Not saying I agree, just posting the article.

There was a quote in the segment about they would make them mandatory if evidence shows it helps prevent injury - I don't think that exists.

Not directed at you and a rhetorical question taking the mickey out of how moronic they are, and I will continue do so whenever an opportunity presents to help dispel the myth. The mouthguard development on the other hand is one implementation that will actually be beneficial.

Just saw the footage. Is that the same doctor that allowed Jonas and Butters to play on last year? What a joke. Totally agree with independent doctors provided by the AFL for this type of assessment. Club doctors have too much of a conflict of interest.

Yeah helmets are great at stopping skull fractures and facial injuries, but only provide minimal protection against concussion. Plus when a player wears a helmet, they generally put their head into more dangerous situations since they feel they have a level of protection. That's why in the NFL you see tacklers leading with their helmet when tackling, something you don't see in rugby or AFL since you would be much more likely to injure yourself tackling like that.

Not like Zorko is a model citizen when it comes to behind the play indiscretions.

“It’s interesting, you’re allowed to grab the groin region now and squeeze it and do whatever you want to it,” Zorko said on SENQ Breakfast.
“So that’s an interesting rule that’s been cleared by the AFL.
“It’s quite interesting that (he) got off. We had really good evidence to support the case.
“I tell you what, my groin region is quite bruised at the moment. It’s funny how that all happens.”
SENQ Breakfast’s Pat Welsh asked: “And they took no action?”
The former Lions skipper replied: “Clearly not, it must have been an accident.
“It’s an accident when they get up and smile and laugh about it, isn’t it.”
Welsh’s co-host Ian Healy quipped: “Well, get into it for the rest of the season then.”
“They’ve set the precedent now,” Zorko laughed.
