A big hello to all the SCS NFL Coaches.
My AFL SC Team is struggling, so I will now start looking at NFL and catching up on the news.

My knowledge of NFL is pretty poor, but if I come across any stories that I think will be useful to us, I'll post it here.

Good luck to all this season.
Welcome back, Bermi.
Sounds like a few of us are having tough AFL SC seasons.
I've had so many 1-2 week outs since the byes that I don't think I've fielded a full 22 player team for 6 weeks,
I'm low on trades and it's not worth trading a 1-2 week out. The problem is I've had those types of outs every week.

In draft, I've also had a lot of injuries but I've done surprisingly well.
In SC Draft: I scraped into 8th place and I'm in an eliminator this week. Looking reasonable but it's very tight.
In DT Draft: I need to win this week to make the finals. Also very tight.
I'd be more confident if Cerra, who I have in both of my draft teams, hadn't had a no score second half. With 95SC and 66DT at half time he was looking to go HUGE!

Not to worry. It's just given me more incentive to do my NFL research.

If you haven’t been following it closely this provides a good summation of the off season;

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...eason-recap-signings-coach-hirings-draft-news

Also does anyone here listen to NFL and NFL Fantasy podcasts that they can recommend?

Can highly recommend the GM Shuffle as a great podcast that is always building my knowledge of the game and the NFL landscape.
For ones not specializing in fantasy but still covering many of the issues:
Around the NFL: https://podbay.fm/p/around-the-nfl
Bill Barnwell: https://podbay.fm/p/the-bill-barnwell-show
MMQB [aka Monday Morning QB]: https://podbay.fm/p/the-mmqb-nfl-podcast
The Ringer NFL Show: https://podbay.fm/p/the-ringer-nfl-show
Rotoworld: https://podbay.fm/p/rotoworld-football-podcast

These ones are all pure fantasy focused done by (mostly) guys who make their living from it.
FantasyPros: http://podcast.fantasypros.com/
Fantasy Footballers: https://podbay.fm/p/fantasy-footballers-fantasy-football-podcast
NFL Fantasy: https://podbay.fm/p/nfl-fantasy-football-podcast
ESPN Fantasy Focus: http://www.espn.com/espnradio/podcast/archive?id=2942325
CBS Fantasy Football Today: https://podbay.fm/p/fantasy-football-today-podcast
The Underdog Football Show: https://podbay.fm/p/the-underdog-football-show

A lot of these are available on YouTube as well.
Pre-season I listen to most of these - at least all the ones I have time for.
Later on, not so much. I tend to pick and choose more for relevance,

Lamar Jackson, Odell Beckham Jr Already On The Same Page (msn.com)

Lamar Jackson, Odell Beckham Jr Already On The Same Page
Story by Tzvi Machlin • 4h ago

When the Baltimore Ravens signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a contract, fans rejoiced that the team was finally giving star quarterback Lamar Jackson an elite receiving target.

Based on what we've seen in practice, the dividends are quickly showing themselves.

During today's practice, Beckham managed to get separation from two defenders on a crossing route, allowing Jackson to find him for an easy completion deep in the opposing red zone.

Fans are convinced that Jackson and OBJ are already on the same page and can't wait to see them prove all of their doubters wrong in the regular season...........

...........Jackson is their starting quarterback for the long-term future and 2023 will see him with more weapons than he's ever had.

No contract extension for Taylor.
No trade this season.
So do they run him into the ground? It's been done before.

Mind you. I think RBs are grossly underpaid.
Consider some stat.s from 2022:
CMCs work-load: 244 carries plus 108 targets for 85 catches =- 329 touches. His total yds: 1,139 + 741 = 1,880. His TDs: 8 + 5 = 13
Ekeler's work-load: 204 carries plus 127 targets for 107 catches = 311 touches. His total yds: 905 + 722 - 1,627.His TDs: 13 + 5 = 18
Versus the WRs:
17 WRs had more targets than Ekeler but only 3 WRs had more than his 107 catches.: Jefferson 128, Hill 119 and Diggs 110. Lamb had 107.
No WR had more yds than CMC and only 2 had more yds than Ekeler: Jefferson 1,809 and Hil 1,710. The next best Adams had 1,510.
No WR had as many TDs as Ekeler and only one had more than CMC: Adams 14, Diggs and A J Brown 11 were the next best.

CMC is paid $16m. Ekeler is paid $6.125m
Jefferson is paid $3.28m - still on his rookie contract. Hill $30m; Adams $28m etc etc
In all, there are 19 WRs paid more than CMC and 40 WRs paid more than Ekeler.

Is that just? Are there really 19 WRs more valuable than CMC or 40 WRs more valuable than Ekeler?
The claim is that RBs are inter-changeable, that their success is dependent upon their O-line, upon their blockers.
I beg to differ.
To some extent it is true but the best RBs have that something special: the ability to break tackles, to accelerate through small gaps, etc
A somewhat similar claim could be made about WRs: that their success depends upon their QB.
But everyone recognizes that the best WRs have something special: the ability to run a good route, to get separation, to evade defenders post-catch etc
So why are RBs so poorly paid?

Ekeler needs a new manager.

Not necessarily.
RBs are criminally underrated & underpaid. Doesn’t seem like it’s changing anytime soon either. Manager or no manager. It’s atrocious
True.
But it seems that as long as all club managers underrate and underpay their RBs the situation won't change.
Why pay more when no other manager will?
And the RBs can't/won't strike because the managers will just play their 2nd/3rd string RBs.
If I was a manager - or a star QB, say - I'd be willing to pay over the current odds for the best.

TEs aren't paid too well, either.
Waller $17m; Kittle $15m; Kelce $14.3m; Goedert $14.2m; Andrews $14m
Waller gets the most because the Giants wanted him and paid.

As for Kelce: he's also criminally underpaid.
There are 22 WRs paid more than him. Yet, if he was a WR he would be ranked at least top-10. Arguably top-5.
His 152 targets would have ranked him #6 among WRs.
His 110 catches ranked him equal to the #3 WR Diggs.
His 1,338 total yds would have ranked him #8 among WRs.
His 12 TDs were only beaten by Adams' 14 with A J Brown and Diggs 11 the next best.

More on RBs:
Barkley, Jacobs and Pollard are playing with the franchise tag this year.
i.e. they are unlikely to get another contract with their current teams.
So, if their teams follow a typical practice, they will be run into the ground before being released to seek new contracts next year.

So, is this good for Fantasy points? I mean, I read it that they will be on the field more, to receive more passes, so likely to get more points?
