There is some suggestion that Chelsea will play 5 at the back (3 CBs including Colwill), with James tucking in at RB and Chilwell bombing forward. Chilly was Chelsea's most advanced player during pre-season. I have Colwill in DT and monitoring for now in FPL. Own Chilly in both
Will probably be a 'horses for courses' formation. Same goes with Villa. I've gone off Colwill and Pau for those reasons.
I got Chilly in both too. Always felt he was better than James. Problem is, they both are softer than an ARS player. But I'll keep him for as long as he stays fit.

Bleedin' injuries and uncertainty at starting has left me with something like this.
Not much wiggle room. If the fillers don't come good, might have to sell a big gun to fund other moves.

With Neves and Raul leaving, Sarabia might be on PKs. If he's a starter and playing AM or AMR, worth a punt.
Don't really have a choice actually. $20k short of Tonali.
But at least WOL play last so can look at other options like Anderson or Downes.

Thanks, didn't realise the loop option.

Good solid picks, looks like the money you have saved on a goalkeeper allows you to obtain an extra forward gun - Salah. Like it!
It's got me thinking

After GW1, I'll be think, "was I thinking?". LOL
Nah, this year there seems to be lots of good outs, so I've gone hard on premiums.
Would be nice to get a few rookies correct and save some trades. They'll be handy in the last few weeks.
You are highlighting where I am really struggling to come up with a strategy. Haaland is in unique territory where he is currently in 62.9% of teams and is C or VC in 60.3% of teams - I am still trying to get my head around why someone wouldn’t at least VC him if he was in their team. These are figures that would normally tempt me to go against the grain. However, that opening fixture scares me too much, so I feel that I need to follow the crowd.

Therefore that brings me to my next conundrum. He is that good that everyone is picking him. So, if he is that good, why do we need more than one more premium in our team as a backup C option as he is likely to always be VC or C? Surely we can search for a bigger pool of strong, but not elite, talent without needing to punt on cheap contenders or risking massive price drops. We can then just correct the midpricers down, which feels like it would be easier than correcting a poor basement price choice.

I don’t have an answer, and am just trying to think this through!

How essential is a loop? Most teams I see around here have a loop, but wondering if I should prioritise cash gen or not.

Was thinking of going Ederson and Flekken, with the idea of trading Ederson around GW8 before a run of Arsenal, Brighton and Man United.
Without double checking, I am pretty sure I have went with a two promoted/cheap GK setup on the past few occasions and forgone a starting loop. A loop is eventually brought in ideally after a goalie makes it past 5.5 million and helps off-set any poor rookies, although the cash is minimal in comparison to the money making ability of similarly priced players on other lines. This I feel has also led to me using too many trades (maybe 3 or more) on the position over a season to trade the starters, then find a season long premium, to then cover an injury to said premium, etc.

The tough part is that I am considering Haaland as a starter this season and with what could be a nice opening fixture across the first seven rounds (bar Newcastle in RD2), then I don’t mind captaining him straight up on most occasions given the initial outlay. Issue then becomes the high ownership and likely high VC/C percentage which means I wouldn’t be able to take advantage if he blanks early in the round, etc. If that would be the case, then I would prefer to take him on again to start the season but I cannot find a mix I am confident on and thus not game to go ahead with that.

Playing around and quite like the following structure:
View attachment 60151

The key drawback is the excessive amount of remaining salary. :ROFLMAO:
Structure has remained the same with a few names changing.

Pedro, Tonali, Eze, Foden and Torres are the players that keep changing. Hard to move away from the Haaland and Salah structure up front as I am having trouble deciding between which two of Pedro, Richarlison and Mudryk, if I was to switch. Optiong for the highest priced option should give the most flexibility and I can switch to the best breakeven come RD3 if necessary. Not confident of putting the cash to good use in the mid/def if I go for two of the aforementioned.

Still unsure about a few Positions.

Walker, he is just to cheap to pass on, great early fitures and hope he can get full games early on in the season, Torres the option.?

Havitz, with Jesus injured early i think he takes this position over Nkeyiah. Man crush on Foden but expecting pep to use him as sub every 2 or 3 weeks. But still tempted to take a chance. No Saka, Arsenal have a lot of options through the midfield and a busy schedule this year, so at this time i will take the chance and wait and cross the fingers Havitz can keep pace during the first 7-8 weeks

Looking Forward to a great season of footy.

It's all about risk / reward. When a guy can score 5 goals in a game, you don't want to miss out, especially when most will VC / C him.
You have to follow the herd with the biggest gun. It's not the place to look for differentials.
If he had a tough early run, the risk would be less, but City actually have one of the easiest runs.
Without European games (other than the Super Cup), he should see lots of time over the next 7 GWs.

I'm also able to fit in 4 big guns with his big price tag, and the others aren't that enticing given what we're seen in pre-season.
Kane could be going, so not interested in him yet.
KDB isn't 100%, so no interest in him either.
Odegaard could be nice, but no one is really onto him, so he won't hurt me too much.
TAA and Trippier have tough fixtures, not really shown they can keep a clean sheet, and TAA will likely have less set pieces with Szoboszlai coming in.

So for now, I think I'll just follow the herd. If people don't have a loop, then if he fails, that could be my differential.

Saka keeps getting better every season. He is a must for me.

Pau, Colwill and Timber could be used in different formations, so not sure if they'll be nailed starters every game. I prefer to wait and see.

Rumours that Dias won't travel with the team. Might have to set the alarm and see the lineup.
Don't want a bad start to the season with an MIA on the field and you have to get the worst score off the bench.

Liverpool spending 110m on Moises Caicedo… who does that help / hurt from their side?
Could hurt Gakpo as he might have been in a MID spot, rather than attack. With only Salah nailed, Darwin, Gakpo, Diaz & Jota will likely fight for the other two attacking spots.
MacAlister and Szoboszlai nailed in MID, so Moses will likely free MacAlister to be more attacking, rather than have been the no.6.
For me, doesn't really change LIV attacking options for FPL or DT.
Hopefully it sures up our defence though. But I won't be rushing to get any Pool DEF soon either.

Does it also impact Brighton’s defensive performance?
Given his time on pitch last season, you'd have to think so. My guess is they will have to trust Gilmour in that position long term.

I don't have BRI in DT cos their fixtures change in GW4 and I can't see more than one chance at a price rise.
In FPL, you could have Mitoma & Estupinan for 2-3 weeks, then look to switch to Maddison & Udogie for GW3-4.
But now it seems there's less chance for Estupinan to CS, and you're relying on attacking returns.

I think I've settled on these teams too. Feel like this is the best balance i can achieve for my DT. Ideally id have enough $ to get Diaby too but the only moves id be willing to complete would be Chilwell > Colwill & Tonali > Diaby but i am not convinced Colwill will keep his spot in the medium-long term, maybe not even short term. Walker & Pedro are my new-ish recruits. I think both are becoming popular and for good reason. I like Foden but i am worried he doesnt start every round and/or is subbed early.

Pretty standard Fantasy team. Jackson is on the bench for round 1 against Liverpool but after that the schedule becomes favourable so he will be an asset for the rounds to come. Its a matter of playing Diaby or Jackson and i think im happy to give Diaby a run.

Turner in for Areola and you're good to go.
