Discussion 2024/25 EPL Dream Team Discussion: GW13 starts 30th Nov @ 6am AEST [BRI v STH]

Without double checking, I am pretty sure I have went with a two promoted/cheap GK setup on the past few occasions and forgone a starting loop. A loop is eventually brought in ideally after a goalie makes it past 5.5 million and helps off-set any poor rookies, although the cash is minimal in comparison to the money making ability of similarly priced players on other lines. This I feel has also led to me using too many trades (maybe 3 or more) on the position over a season to trade the starters, then find a season long premium, to then cover an injury to said premium, etc.

The tough part is that I am considering Haaland as a starter this season and with what could be a nice opening fixture across the first seven rounds (bar Newcastle in RD2), then I don’t mind captaining him straight up on most occasions given the initial outlay. Issue then becomes the high ownership and likely high VC/C percentage which means I wouldn’t be able to take advantage if he blanks early in the round, etc. If that would be the case, then I would prefer to take him on again to start the season but I cannot find a mix I am confident on and thus not game to go ahead with that.

Opted for a loop to start this season to change it up. 2/49 after banking Haaland.

Did the same. I used a loop pretty well for A-league RDT. Living in Queensland, the timing of the EPL games is obviously more of an issue but i think my body clock is pretty attuned to waking up early so i hope i can use the loop to advantage. Im 3(c)/55 with Walker and Foden alongside Haaland

What is with all these things I am reading on Twitter, or whatever it’s called now days, about Gabriel? What is the supposed injury and is any of it credible? At least it’s the early game tonight, so I might work on a plan B just in case.

I thought it was a rumour only. Problem is, as you would know, it gets hard to tell when everyone re-tweets and at that point, who knows if its legitimate. I have Chilwell as my backup in fantasy and dont own Gabriel in RDT so doesnt affect me that much but honestly i have no idea if there is any truth to the rumours.

I don't think it's an injury. It could turn out to be a plain benching.

First time playing EPL RDT. This is the team I've settled on for the moment - very heavily influenced by comments on this thread. Thanks to everyone for your comments and obviously far superior knowledge of players, teams etc.

Any thoughts, comments etc on any aspect of my team will be gratefully accepted - players, cash in bank, team formation etc. Also particularly interested in thoughts re using loop. Is it worthwhile (I'm leaning towards yes) and, if so, thoughts on my present GK loop choice (Gillespie) - will he play, are there better options etc? Many thanks and good luck to all!

Gillespie is 3rd/4th choice so should be fine.

Thought I'd try FPL this year, but not sure I can/will commit to it fully - EPL timings are not great and I know in the past I've missed the lock out of game weeks multiple times. Still a bit to get my head around, as I expected a bit higher scoring from the City players based on DT scoring.

Decided to not C Haaland due to the numbers on him, that didn't work too well. Hoping Luton do poorly, but they probably won't be bad enough.

Yeah the fixed lockout in addition to the timings make FPL hard to love sometimes. In addition, squad leaks just prior to lockout are particularly frustrating... Stones last night as a prime example

I was awake luckily, won't be usually. Stones was one I considered but didn't end up choosing once I heard he was a likely non starter. I only put my team together late yesterday, it was a bit of a last minute thing.

Always seems to be a problem when MC play first.
GW6 the next time but that is a lockout 1030pm aest Saturday..
Next 3 weeks the deadline early Saturday morning does not feature many big hitters.

So what’s the go with Gabriel? Went to bed about 15 minutes before lockout and just missed the rumours. Is he injured, going to be benched? Is the source reliable?
