I do strongly believe it’s the wrong decision to start with a loop this year, especially with bye rounds to start the year and we’ll have at least 1 playing rookie ruck.
Most likely someone will turn into a loop by the end of the byes anyway.

I agree, you’ll have a loops across the byes and then you’ll probably have someone out of the team that can fill that role. Worst case scenario your first downgrade can be a loop to make the stretch to the next byes easier.
Not sure I get the last comment, you’re only getting 1 player for the exact price that they performed last year? You’ll only get burned if they outperform that, or in Gawn/Bont’s case maybe doing what they did + captain scores. Bit like picking GAJ priced at 130, you knew him going 130 again was a big win because you could just C him every week.
But yeah on the whole I agree, you think you’re missing out on a game, but when Daicos outdoes Brayshaw by 50 points in round one, then you’ve already unwound what was lost.

I do still have him in my team, but was considering dropping him even before the injury (more as I think I needed a restructure). I've put a self imposed ban on making any changes to my team until after these pre-season games are all done though.
