Quick one, my mate's trying to propose a sidebet with me and wants a 1800 point headstart (75pts per week), any idea what that would work out to be in overall ranking terms? Lets assume i finish 2k for the sake of the exercise
Sorry mate I have no idea. 75 points a week is a big head start.
Negotiate. 1800 points is massive, try to haggle it down to 1000-1200 or something. Even then, if you get am ill timed injury or something you could be up s**t creek for a couple of weeks (Mumford last season comes to mind, where people kept him for weeks while he didn't play).
Alternatively you could go on a weekly basis of a 75 point head start. At the end of the 23 weeks, tally up who has the most weekly wins to determine the winner. I would back you in over the long term to get more weekly wins at -75, but not sure if that would eventuate to an overall 1800 point lead.
Tell him to harden up and take you on head to head. ;)

Yeah i reckon i could take him at 1800 but gee its a massive headstart. He's the most stubborn negotiator in history..we have Anzac day wagers every year and he always starts off at a ridiculous line and we then have to go back and forth for 2 days until we end up at a realistic number lol

Haha tell me about it. Even at 1000 i think that's probably a fair headstart in terms of sidebets but 2000 and now 1800 is still more than im willing to give up. He generally starts with 1 mil in the kitty for upgrades but always runs out but this year he looks like he might be starting with all cash/points on the field.

We haven't got the split round this year to start proceedings either... a lot of cookie cutter teams will make it a log jam at the top end!!!

I can tell you, that the players that finished 1800 points behind you last season finished about 9,500th.
It's a bad bet, don't take it.

@al_superfooty: Nifty new feature just appeared for Herald Sun members + #supercoach Gold users http://t.co/3aobO9ZlSU

I can't post the image, but there is now a function which lets you display the players available during each of the Bye rounds.

Crowley tribunal hearing in May.
I personally think his career is over.
Dumb choice getting a painkiller from outside clubs sources and not being careful to check it will be ok.
He will probably get two years like Saad and not sure of his age but tend to think that will be curtains.

With that much of a head start do u stand to win more? Otherwise I dont see the incentive

Heard the AFL are exploring the idea of implementing the technology of cricket's zing bails in the goalposts to help for goal reviews (e.g. if the ball clips the post the corresponding small section of the post will light up). The technology would only be used when the post was too high for a player to touch so they can avoid having defenders exploiting the system.

Are they implying that defenders would try and cheat the system.

Yep. If the ball was mm away from the post just above their stretching hand the defender could activate the lights to try and fool the goal umpire. Hence very small individual sections would need to be used to reduce the likelihood of this tactic working.

Nah just straight up. He's a 20-50k coach most years and im coming off one good year so it's more just for a bit of interest... we bet against each other on pretty much anything lol

We have an NBA bet going at the moment, who will win more games out of the spurs and cavs...pretty much evens at the mo
