Have to admit fellow Supercoaches.
That was one mighty long day at work today laying bricks.
Got a little carried away celebrating that mighty Bombers victory. Will have to watch the replay now.
How did you go Philzsay, great day at the G ?
Maso, are you still alive ?
After all the issues, a great day to be a Bomber supporter.

I'm Awesome! Great arvo at the G. Hugged and high fived strangers. I went nuts. Watched the replay when I got home last night with a few beers. :) All round great day.

I could not believe how much we fumbled the ball yesterday, I think we may have underestimated the bombers resolve.

Do Bombers fans expect Jobe to score a bit better in Supercoach now? Have him in my team and he's been a bit disappointing so far. Haven't watched him play yet so don't really know what its been due to, but I'm hoping that now he's gotten a couple of games under his belt and now playing some easier teams he'll go back to some better scores?

I did think his score was a little harsh by CD, 33 possies including 10 contested possessions, 5 clearances, 6 tackles. Thought he would have scored at least 100. He should post some reasonable scores coming up, with hopefully one massive game :)

I was following the live SC scores of that match closely, especially towards the end. I recalled that Watson was on about 115 points half way through the last quarter and his score gradually decline as the match went on, which was surprising as he had a massive game IMO, I have a lot of respect for the man. Hodge was another one that had a decline in his score, went from 99 to 82 during the last quarter. Also notice that in the last 10mins of the game, Hooker (for obvious reason), Lewis, Roughead, Stratten and Lake scores went up quite markedly.

Obviously still very heavy points weighting when the game is tight and players can still go up and down depending on the impact of their involvements.

Ah OK thanks. I only ever look at the quarter scores of Essendon games as I'm too busy watching the game! But now that I think about it Watson gave away the free kick to Rioli in the last minute which given the tightness of the game may have been a heavy penalty SC wise.

Thanks for that guys :) yeah i remember checking his score at one point and seeing him just over 100, then checked at the end and saw he'd dropped back to the 90's and was a bit dissapointed. Thought his stats didn't look too bad and that maybe he just didn't have much influence. Sounds like he may have actually been playing a little bit better then I'd originally thought, hopefully translates into some better Supercoach scores soon :)

Glad I did not know that when watching game on tv. I had Watson captain and Hodge in my backline. To know that at one stage Watson was on 115 and ended on 94 as my risky captain choice would have been cruel to know then. As it is, I did not think he had a major impact in the bits I saw so 94 whilst a let down I thought he needed to be in play more in tight finish to get the score I would have liked. Hodge only saw a couple of times in last quarter. Lewis seemed to be everywhere. Only watched last quarter but was a good finish. Was hoping Bombers would win it for Chappy...lol
Hawks without Sam Mitchell, Gibson and Frawley came back to the pack a bit.

Just some casual observations for today...

1. With Rockliff and now Ablett scenario, most teams are gravitating towards very similar structure & players. Those who chose not to start with Ablett or Rockliff or BOTH are definitely ahead by 1/2 trades.
2. Ruck strategy: Set & Forget v Midpricer v Cheap. Too early to call yet, however, long term effects of the new ruck scoring system and no doubt injury will have a significant impact.
3. Due to the shallow nature of this year rookies, most if not all will have all of the usual suspects to start with. When and who we trade them for will separate us from hereon.
4. Those 50/50 decisions becomes even more critical to get the percentage in your favour. Newnes, Lumumba, Docherty, Hannebery, Wines, Neale, Bontempelli, Bennell, Adams to name a few.

All in all, I think it makes for a challenging set of circumstance and I say 'Bring it on'!

Having a trading plan plus a bit of luck on the injury front, will be imperative to your success this year. Those astute SC'ers who knows when to 'Sell & Buy' and have a plan in place will stand out from the crowd, like separating the wheat from the chaff.

Good luck all and enjoy the journey.

Agree with all of that. The other thing I feel is that we are going to see a number of injuries and players rested throughout the year. Especially since there is only one bye per team this year. The ability to survive carnage at the back end of the year will be cricial.

Yep.

30 feels like so many trades to have. Now!!

As much as I hate some of my keepers at the moment, if they keep playing they will stay in my team.

Just had another thought whilst lunching today...

Is it possible that we have may have a TIE at the end of the SC season, and dare I say it, between SCS members !!! Unlikely but not totally out of the realm of possibility, there's a saying which goes something like '...great minds thinks alike...'

Looks to be about the most generic supercoach season in memory. Ablett being traded out provides the cash boost for everyone to bring in the same bolters. Shame my pre-season pod bolter Bontempelli showed his colours too early and is the flavour of the month trade in, although I can forsee a little flat spot for the next couple of weeks that will have the masses whinging.
Just makes the decision as to which rookie to field and captaincy choices all that more important to distinguish your side from the pack.

I was thinking exactly the same thing today, come the end of RD3, teams at top will almost be mirror image of each other. Can't help but think that the SC season has reset itself at the beginning of RD3, those who have put their research into successfully identifying a potential breakout candidate have been cancelled by those who went in with either Ablett or Rockliff or both, the only difference may be 1 or 2 trades. Most teams are running 2 on-field rookies down back, 2-3 up forward, and depending on their initial Ruck strategy (which I think is the only differentiator between teams), will be fielding 2-4 on-field rookies in the midfield. It will be an interesting exercise to do a standard deviation on the scores of the top say 1,000 ranked team for RD3, I'd be surprised if the spread is more than 200 points.

This is where I think the decision we make from hereon is vital to the success of our team.
* Do we follow the crowd and trade in 'flavour of the week' type players?
* Do we have a trading plan up until the MBRs?
* Where are we prioritising our premium upgrades and when?
* Do we target 'Fallen Premiums' or go for the performing ones?
* Do we employ a FD agent to maximise our rookies scoring?

Our answers to these questions will determine our SC journey this year, success or otherwise. Of course, the 'general soreness' will make an appearance at some stage as well.

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, this set of circumstances makes for an exciting challenge to each one of us, as to how we differentiate our team from the ever growing pack.

Game on...
