Mate, please give a it a bit of consideration if you are going to mouth off about someone, in this case my complaining. Which fair cop, I do at times. The fact is my whinge is understandable given my context is four years of it. It's called venting. I'm not whining about this year in isolation as a singular year of bad buck will tend to happen from time to time and I'm sure plenty have felt that this year. My experience is four years long. If you are going to knock a guy when he is down, rather than support, then least get it accurate of the bleeding is about four years, not one bloody year. Enough with kicking people when they are down. A bit of empathy and understanding would be more helpful or just leave it alone altogether. Walk in some one's shoes for fours years before hanging **** on them. Not happy Jan! Rant over!
lol... I think my point is that everyone has problems, every year. You are putting together a list of 30 players and constantly bringing people in and out so it is inevitable. Moreover there are certain players who EVERYONE worth their salt would have. It might feel like YOU SPECIFICALLY have copped more than your fair whack but given the popularity of the big names who have gone down this year, and even your "POD's" like Bennell / Watson / Docherty you can bet your behind that the majority of people here are in the same boat.

Sure, it's frustrating. It's frustrating for everyone, every year. You aren't alone. Last year I wasted 8 trades on long term ruck injuries. I had Kreuzer who I traded to Mumford, who I was forced to trade for McEvoy. McEvoy got injured so I traded him back to Mumford. Mumford was a late withdrawal with KNEE SURGERY and was out for weeks. I brought in Dean Cox. Dean Cox retired after playing 2 games for me. etc etc etc. That's trades wasted purely on ONE ruck position.

Am I really unlucky, or is everyone faced with similar challenges every single year. Don't take it as a whack, I'm just saying everyone is in the same boat.

Everyone has bad luck with injuries. Lots of them. Every year. If anyone here went a season without one, they'd probably win the thing.

But nobody else whinges and rants as if they're the only one affected by it. Dry your eyes and look ahead, rather than complaining about things you can't change.

My opinion on being LUCKY or UNLUCKY in SC is

1. If you start with 2 or more floating donuts & get injuries to your team it isn't unlucky.

2. If you focus on DPP players & leave out durable players because they are single position players then its not unlucky

3. If you trade 1 game players before they are named for their 3rd game then its not unlucky

4. If you play the VC game & then get late outs on a Sunday then its not unlucky

I have this season & in seasons past done all of the above, some of my mates have done all 4 at once & cry UNLUCKY. My point is SC gives us a salary cap & 30 players to select, those who want to select FD, DPP Loophole etc do so knowing the risk.

I like Oz's character. Every pub needs that bloke in the corner who tells you he "coulda been a contender".

Don't change Oz. Don't change.

Is everyone being good?

Have to try to grow my law practice so I can't watch this SCS thread; so be good everyone.

However, the other MODs are watching ready to pounce.. 'Float Like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee'

I haven't read this thread, but I assume everyone is being respectful to each other.

Its is a fine art when helping someone out to provide empathy versus trying to help them out with either what you perceive is the "hard truth" or by providing solutions.

Unfortunately, as much as we believe we have rules, who isnt considering bringing in Rocky or Ablett. They have both burnt us both this year most likely, we all just were burnt again (or first time) with Sloane and we will all be kicking ourselves if they injure themselves again. Dont think you are playing it safe by waiting 1-2 games, look at this years repeat offenders in Rocky and Sloane.

The nature of this game is once you have an injury or two (whether repeat offenders or just unlucky) by nature you will feel the need to double down and take risk, which just compounds the issue. Part of it I am sure is due to it being a season only game and you know that if you fail trying, you can try again next year.

Gray is the perfect example of someone who broke the risk trend. Higgins another one this year.

If Higgins broke down, it would be a very different season for a lot of coaches at the top.

It's a long season that is far from over yet. Will be shocked if Higgins plays 21+ games.

It's funny, I figured preseason you could only start one of Ablett or Rocky due to the cost, so i started Ablett who promptly turned into Fyfe after round 2. I then bought in Rocky after round 7 when he bottomed out for $447k and have held him through his second injury what it means is that although i'm ranked about 30000 i've now got a full mid compliment (when Rocky gets back), $175k and 7 trades so i'm hoping to climb a bit towards the pointy end when i seems some people are already down to 4 trades or less. If only i hadn't made the ****test defence choices! Two Essendon defenders?? Should've known better!

As for Oz, he's just a cranky old bugger, but wouldn't you be too if you supported Carlton for the last few years :)

Great work Jay - an excellent example of why this website is the 'A' grade of SC sites. Would hate things to get to the stage where members are reluctant to post in fear of having their heads bitten off. Keep up the good work.

Why is Adam Saad injured?
I remember watching last week and he wasn't moving very well at all. Looked very sore.

Not sure but for some reason i'm thinking it was a hammy but don't think it was too serious cos he kept playing.

Rocky and Sloane are ridiculously unique situation (at least from my perspective). I've never heard about player, coming back from a broken bone playing multiple games before rebreaking them. Never did I hear in any of the discussion surrounding their selection in SC squads the issue of them reinjuring their broken bones. It's not like soft tissue injuries where some players naturally are more susceptible.

Has it ever happened before??

So I ask you, are you bringing in Rocky? The thread earlier talked about rules and how they minimise picking up injured players (yes, most likely soft tissue). We know Rocky has broken his ribs already twice this year, Sloane twice his cheek, is that not enough history. Even if you had a rule for this (I did a week ago after dumping sloane), Rocky is unique, his situation is unique and we all will likely bring him in. Rules exist, until they are broken.

So I ask you, punk, do you feel lucky. LOL (said in a John Wayne voice over).

Went off with a groin issue early in the game. Did a few run throughs on the boundary but was ok enough to come back on. When he came back on he looked a bit limited and didn't get near the ball often.

He may have pulled up sore as a result of his groin issue at the end of the game hence why he is under an injury cloud.

Rocky rebroke his ribs 8 weeks after he initially did. I'm not sure how badly he did them the second time. However one would assume that it would be less badly if the time out is less. Especially given how precautious you would think Brisbane doctors would be with the season over and the long term future of Rocky at the centre of their decision making. I would be 95% sure his ribs won't be rebroken (although the first time I would have said 98).

I don't think I'll pick him. I'm most likely be going the safer option with Beams this week. What I'm concerned with Rocky is his mental state of having broke his ribs twice (although it is Rockliff after all) as well as match and general fitness he would have lost. If Ablett doesn't look to becoming his former superpower and a rocky his I'd consider it. However my trade plans allow me to trade in an expensive mid with no real immediate benefit of saving the money.

Will defiantly consider If his tackle number get back up. I've been I think relatively lucky this year so maybe I am feeling lucky PUNK!!

Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry) perhaps :)
