Ablett will miss remainder of 2015 season with high grade medial lig tear- no surgery required
Bit more info -

Knee injury rules Suns skipper Gary Ablett out for season

GOLD Coast captain Gary Ablett won't play again this season with scans revealing he suffered a medial ligament tear against Adelaide.

Ablett was substituted out of Saturday's game in the first quarter with the Suns initially believing the injury to his left knee involved meniscus or cartilage damage and would sideline him for three to four weeks.

But leading sports medico Dr Peter Larkins told AFL.com.au on Monday morning it had since been confirmed that the two-time Brownlow medallist had torn his medial ligament.

"Gary has suffered a medial ligament tear which doesn't require surgery," Larkins said.

"It would have been a six-week injury at any time and they're not going to rush him back this home and away season."

Two years in a row people have wasted their last trade on Ablett, either getting him in or getting him out and being left with $200k in the bank they can't use. Brutal

Did something like this last year and in 2013, brought in Ibbotson and I think from memory, Scott Thompson when they were flying, using my last two trades about 4-5 weeks out. Both were out a week or two later for the season. Carried 2-3 donuts to the end.
Hence my vow to self, which I am boring you stupid with, am keeping what I can till the need presents.

lol... Last year I had one trade left when Ablett went down, so I was stuck with about $200k in the bank after I "downgraded" him to another premium. I have two trades reseved this year for LTI's (and am currently carrying Beams boo).

It's a cruel mistress our Supercoach. I didn't trade for the opening 4 rounds and have still managed to run out. So many forced (and stupid) trades!

It truly is amazing how we always manage to run out. At the start of every year i say that 30 trades is too many...and every year at this stage of the year, we run out. Maybe 30 isn't too many?

Why is 30 too many?
If we had 2 trades for every round then that's too many

I think 30's too many because it makes it too easy to get a fully upgraded team. Albeit my POS team doesn't really look fully upgraded lol but i think i would find SC alot more enjoyable if we saw final teams with a couple of mid pricers. Not sure less trades = more midpricers but i'm pretty sure it would lead to more PODs at a minimum.

Number of trades just changes how the game is played. If you only had 15 in a year, you hold onto Sloanes/Rockys/Deledios and perhaps end up with more Saad/Oxley types in your team.

Anyway, when are we expecting to hear the Beams news? Pretty sure they said a decision would be made today.

He's certainly not SC relevant in his current form
