Adelaide Midfielders Brad Crouch and Rory Atkins have been dropped to the SANFL for disciplinary reasons. (Drinking at the Clipsal 500)

The club say the players "failed to meet the elite standards required in regards to their preparation."

Crows Senior Coach Don Pyke said the decision followed a recommendation from the Senior Leadership Group.

"Our players have established a trademark and standards which govern their behaviour both on and off the field,” Pyke said.

“In this instance, Brad and Rory did not meet those standards when the playing group had a break from training over the weekend.”

The Crows play Gold Coast in their final NAB Challenge match on Friday night.

All signs are pointing to Crouch as being a bad pick.

Has been out of my side for a very long time now.

I agree a risky SC pick but still really due to injury status rather than this incident. Apparently just a few beers nothing drastic but Pyke going in hard to set standards. (I remember Tex doing somthing similar at the SANFL when he was young). I don't think there are ongoing behavioural issues

McVeigh due to be back Round 2 or 3 according to Swans twitter.
I had considered starting him if he was only going to miss one or two. His coaching role sounded quite bearish though.

West Coast defender Sharrod Wellingham to miss Round 1 because of knock to his knee

WEST Coast defender Sharrod Wellingham is set to miss the start of the AFL season after taking longer than expected to overcome a knock to his knee.

“He’s got a knock on his knee that he’s had before. Normally it’s come and gone, but it just hasn’t gone this time,” Eagles coach Adam Simpson said.

“He probably won’t play round one.”

Scans have cleared star forward Shane Edwards of serious damage to his collarbone following fears he may have broken it against the Power.

The 27-year-old had to leave the ground in the first quarter after hurting his left shoulder and didn’t return, sporting a sling.

But it has been confirmed that Edwards has only suffered severe bruising and some nerve swelling.

“Shane should recover quickly from the bruising, we’ll assess it further early next week, but at this stage we’re confident his preparation for Round 1 won’t be interrupted,” Richmond football manager Dan Richardson said.

But the news wasn’t as good for Reece Conca who will be sidelined for at least eight weeks with a hamstring injury.

“It’s disappointing for Reece, he’s had a great pre-season thus far, but we’ll go through a thorough rehab process with him, and look forward to him making a contribution for us later in the season,” Richardson said.

Of the other Tigers who injured themselves on Thursdsay night, Shaun Grigg will miss the first 3-4 weeks of the season due to a fractured thumb but Jacob Townsend (concussion) is expected to be available for the first game of the year against Carlton on March 24.

Jeremy Cameron faces an anxious wait after being reported in Greater Western Sydney's 39-point NAB Challenge win over Brisbane Lions on the Gold Coast on Sunday.

And Lions vice-captain Dayne Zorko's AFL round one hopes also lie with the match review panel after being booked for striking.

Cameron had his number taken midway in the third term for a late bump on Rhys Mathieson in the 1.17.11 (122) to 2.9.11 (83) win in front of just 1,504 fans.

The young Lion was forced from the field with a suspected cheekbone fracture.

Instead of fretting, Cameron cut loose from impressive defender Daniel McStay after the incident, finishing with four goals.

SCANS have revealed that Rhys Mathieson has fractured his right cheekbone after a receiving a high bump in the Brisbane Lions’ final NAB Challenge game against the GIANTS.

Mathieson will see a surgeon later today to investigate whether or not he will need surgery.

In other injury news, Jaden McGrath has been cleared of a fracture in his left shoulder after leaving yesterday’s game to receive an X-Ray.

Lions medical staff will assess him, once the injury starts to settle.

Keep an eye on lions.com.au tomorrow for another update in the Lions Health Report.

TIGERS INJURY UPDATES

Richmond endured a horror final NAB Challenge hitout with Shane Edwards (shoulder), Reece Conca (hamstring) and Shaun Grigg (thumb) expected to miss weeks with various injuries.

Edwards was initially feared to be the worst of the trio after holding his arm in a sling, however X-rays on the 27-year-old revealed no fracture.

“Shane should recover quickly from the bruising, we’ll assess it further early next week, but at this stage we’re confident his preparation for Round 1 won’t be interrupted."

Meanwhile, Conca will miss eight weeks after injuring his hamstring, although the 23-year-old won’t require surgery. Teammate Grigg will miss 3-4 weeks with a fractured thumb.

Even the new recruits weren’t spared, with Jacob Townsend concussed in a tackling contest in the third quarter of Thursday night’s match. However unlike Grigg and Conca, the 22-year-old is expected to be available for selection ahead of Richmond’s season opener against Carlton.

Anyone got news on Bartel??

Heard he got concussed on the weekend and didn't take any further part in the game. Has he pulled up alright, still right for round 1??
Sorta wish he got another preseason game or two under his belt.

Think he passed the concussion test, but they just didn't risk him. Should be fine for Round 1.
