12.41pm: BAD NEWS LIONS
Star Lion Dayne Beams will miss at least half the season with his tendinitis injury, with coach Justin Leppitsch saying he is hopeful he'll play in 2016.

"As a coach you're always taking the pessimistic approach and putting another month or two on where he should be," Leppitsch said.

"My brain's saying "oh well, we'll see him in the second half of the year" and hopefully that happens."

Beams out for half the year. Likes of Zorko/Robbo/Rich very tempting now. I'll resist in SC late.

Bugger, although he took it like a trooper tweeting "And to make matters worse it's the first time in my career I've had donuts (on the field, I eat real ones all the time)"

Swan set to miss months after serious leg injury

STAR Collingwood midfielder Dane Swan looks set for an extended stint on the sidelines after fracturing his right leg in his side's disastrous 80-point loss to the Sydney Swans at the SCG on Saturday night.

After starting the match on the bench, Swan had his right leg bent underneath him awkwardly in a contest in the opening 10 minutes of the match and immediately grabbed his right foot.

The 2010 Brownlow medallist headed straight to the bench, before limping to the Magpies changerooms with two members of the team's medical staff.

Swan played no further part in the game and failed to get a possession for the night.

On top of such a convincing defeat, Magpies coach Nathan Buckley was understandably shattered to lose his gun on baller.

"He's broken the fibula and he's got some fractures in his foot, so it's significant,"
Buckley said post-match.

"I don't know what it's going to mean as far as time out (goes).

"He'll need surgery and once that's done that we'll have a better idea for what it means for him for the rest of the year.

"I presume that (surgery) will take place back in Melbourne and that 'Swanny' will travel back with us tomorrow (Sunday)."

Buckley said the news on Alex Fasolo (neck), Nathan Brown (hamstring) and Marley Williams (knee) was more positive, with all three expected to be fit to face Richmond next Friday night at the MCG.

Crouch hit could be looked at as upper shoulder from behind imo - Waite was just acting for the free - got up for the kick immediately (1 week max could get off). Sidey looks to be more serious and direct I would hope 1 week max - medium contact at best imo.

Sidey chose to go past the ball and hit him in the head and he missed the rest of the game. I would think at least 3 weeks.

My bad mate - thought Hannes just had a bad night (I was watching the other more interesting game) so 3 weeks in that case sounds about right.

Medical report will be looked at, Hanners jogged off and with the game already on ice, Swans may have played it safe. 2 weeks with 1 week for guilt plea - maybe. Side may argue he was running into contest and then braced for impact, will get done but severity is the question. If not 2, then agree 3 weeks, don't think its a 1 week down to no time off with a guilt plea.

Need a better angle on Crouch, difficult to tell if he hit the head or upper body. Tried to side bump a bumbling Waite from a one step bump.....worst case 1 week down to no time off with guilt plea. Thought Matt may have held Brad off centre bounce downs, but Brad had 21 clearances he attend, equal no.2 (highest 26).

Agreed mate - where do you get the clearances attended stat?

I was at the Crows/North game last night so didn't see swans/pies. Anyone able to fill me in on what happened to Hannebery last night. Know he got hit by Sidebottom but no idea when in the game it happened and the impact it had on Hannebery. 100 ok but would have expected him to dominate considering the score.

Mid way through the third copped a full shoulder clean strait to the middle of his face, it was went off for concussion test which I believe he passed but was cotton wooled due to 80 point lead already. Was on track for a 130+ was very disappointed one of the pie lads would do that to my sc team

Happened late in the third qtr and he sat on the bench for the rest of the game. FWIW I thought he was set for 130-140 before that.

I was thinking 2 games when i saw Crouch's hit, wasn't particularly forceful but was still dangerous with Waite bent over like that. He's in my SC side so i'm hoping your 1 week predictions are correct.

Surely, this isn't a week. No high contact at all. But is be happy with 3. Just saying...
