Ellis out shouldn't really have much impact either way to be honest. One of Butler/Elllis/Nelson was looking like being dropped to make way for Lewis Jetta anyway this week.

Those three where fighting for 2 spots in the 22. So this makes things easier with Nelson now likely to play a bit bigger role.

Despite not training today, I think Gov will definitely play... Didn't look to hampered by it one he came back on the field. he just had a quiet match like Hurn.

If Gov wasn't to get up, We could go several ways either bringing in Barrass who has been really good in the WAFL or just bringing in another mid most likely Hutchings. Yeo could see a few more minutes down back due to his versatility. But as I said I think Gov will just have a light week on track and should play.
Has to be a worry with the gov that he can't seem to get past his injuries. On a positive he can play through them but doesn't really make for great sc scores.

Ellis out good for Hurn?

McGovern IF out, bad for Hurn?

Hopefully Gov gets up to play this weekend, and I wish Ellis a speedy recovery.
As a 2015 Hurn starter I can tell you that the only thing good for Hurn is if he was actually Priddis!

Yeah it is a concern but he was never going to be a risk free pick. I went in with my eyes open knowing he was likely to cop some knocks during the year.

I don't believe his injury impacted his score. I really do think is was just one of those games that didn't suit him.

Hurn played a totally different role last year than in the past or what he is/will be playing this year due to our backline injuries. No use comparing years.

As a Duggan owner I'm happy to hear that ...How safe do you think his spot is with players to return ??

Very safe. He is best 22 and very highly rated by the coaching staff. A run of poor form or injury would be the only thing that would see him not in the team.

Great to hear thanks for the insight. Knew they rated him highly but was a little concerned with JS.

@SENBreakfast: Longmire says Hannebery will be right for Sunday and that Ted Richards "is a chance" to come back in

Nothing official but I have some mail Pendles has a cracked rib... Just for those people considering him as a captain option this week. Keep an eye out if he misses training etc.

Pendles trained yesterday - not sure if he had a cracked rib they would risk him

From the Herald Sun:

MELBOURNE will not consider Christian Petracca for senior selection until his fitness is up to scratch to compete on the big stage.

Petracca made his long-awaited return in Demons match-simulation training last week, but despite glimpses of his best coach Paul Roos wants to give the midfielder time in the VFL.

“We know he can do some special things but fitness is the important thing ... once he’s really fit we can start to judge form,” Roos said.

A decision will be made this week on how much game time Petracca will get in the VFL.

For anyone that has this rookie:

MELBOURNE defender Oscar McDonald is almost certain to miss his side's clash against Essendon on Saturday with an ankle injury, opening the door for veteran Lynden Dunn to return to the team.

Also some news on Clayton Oliver:

Roos also indicated NAB AFL Rising Star nominee Clayton Oliver is likely to be given a spell at some stage throughout the season, despite an impressive 22-disposal effort against the Giants. "You learn from your young guys every year. Last year we probably ran Angus (Brayshaw) into the ground a little bit. "But those young guys you look to rest. There was a game last year where Gussy had the flu and we probably should've pulled him out.
"We learn from that. I certainly wouldn't think [Oliver] will play all games this year."

Or if he actually plays a fantasy friendly role ;)
I know you really want this pick to turn out and for your sake I hope he does but don't get too stuck on him if he doesn't show you something soon (and not just the one big week we all know he is capable of).

The best defenders for SC these days are either the KPP Rance types or those that are actually playing midfield this year (ie, next year's mid only selections). Hurn is in the no-man's land in that he is neither of these.

He's not SC relevant, but not sure if any rookies could come in for him.

@andrewcapel: Bad news for @PAFC Matt White. He will be sidelined until at least Rd 14 with scans showing a complete tear of right pectoral muscle.

Vardy to miss up to six weeks with an ankle sprain will be in moon boot for at least two weeks and then will return to training and eventually geelongs 2's and push for a recall.
Injury occurred when he was laying on the ground and a fellow player fell on his foot. (must of been fairly bad to miss this long you think)
source was on news on the radio at 6pm

Good news for smith owners now just need stanley to get out of the way.

It's largely not been the SC relevant players to date, but it feels like the number of injuries has increased dramatically in the past week. Potentially a further reminder that the NAB is not that representative of what we can expect during the season.

Hamish Hartlett racing the clock to be fit for showdown.
Pulled up tight in the hammy after training today. Watch this space may be named but a late out potentially.
