Damien Barrett's weekly AFL article is a bit slow Rowsus.

If there's one thing we love ... ... then it is a player emerging from absolutely nowhere. Aaron Young, keep riding that wave.

Hi Bones,
the point of the FD is, he should play late in the round, so that you can swap him about easily, but not cost too much.

Francis (Ess - Draw factor 7.4) is clearly the best from this point of view, but is too expensive at $198,300
Hewett (Port - Draw factor 4.9) isn't great for playing late, but only costs $102,400.
Adamson (WC - Draw factor 5.3) is a little better Draw wise, but costs $117,300.
Clayton (Bris - Draw factor 6.0) might be the best compromise at $123,900.
Love your work Row, thanks

IF Damien Barrett had any understanding of the concept of Sliding Doors...
THEN he would realise his articles are are complete load of garbage just like the rest of his work.

Good morning Rowsus

Some help with choosing a defender would be much appreciated. Most have picked up McVeigh as a value pickup but I'm considering skipping him and getting Suckling instead. Scores of 110, 96, 17 (inj) 122, 92 in his last 5 starts seems much better than McVeigh's 79, 116, 70, 68, 91 and he's also about $60k cheaper. I can only reach him with one trade by using Tippa which means Brown will remain to stink up my defence. Actually he'll probably have to go forward to cover Hall, urghhhhhhh... Anyway do you think of the Suckling trade. PS i have $86k in the bank.

Thanks
Afternoon minidee. :)
I don't like the Suckling trade. I believe leopard's don't change their spots. Suckling had many seasons and opportunities at Hawthorn, to show us what he has, and in SC terms, it fell short. If there is a Hawthorn like team in the League at the moment, it is the Bulldogs. I can't see him maintaining his recent form, and he will fall back to being the same old Suckling we have always known. ie. good scores here and there, but largely averaging less than you'd like.

Thanks for the input Rowsus. I guess it's back to the drawing board. With so many non-playing players ( Brand, AMT, McPherson, Grimley, Hall and Menadue) I'm struggling to avoid a donut this week. Not looking forward to the byes either.

Hey Rowsus,

You came highly recommended from a friend who's in the top 1000. Clearly, I need help and I'll love you for it.

Trades: 17 Salary: 8.8k

Current team:
Back:
Shaw, Adams, Dempsey, Brown, S. Collins, Tucker, (Tippungwutti, K Collins)

Mid:
Danger, Ablett, Shiel, Parker, Libba, Zaharakis, M. Crouch, Jansen, (Parish, Mills, Keays)

Ruck:
Goldstein, Gawn, (Cox)

Forward:
Zorko, D. Martin, Montagna, Wells, Hogan, Kerridge, (Petracca, Papley)

This week, I was hoping to trade Brown and Parish or Mills out for Laird and Trengrove but I'm 10k short! An alternative mid rookie that I can afford is Kade Stewart, although it's a bit risky because Hawks like to rotate their rookies.

Thanks, would seriously appreciate your thoughts.
Hey TopGrizzly,
welcome aboard.
Do me a favour, and please tell me who gave me such a glowing recommendation. (their username on SCS)
I would love to take the time to look at your team in depth, and work out what might be your best moves in the coming weeks.
Even though you have given me a very detailed account of your team, could you tell me your team name as well?
Cheers
Rowsus
Thanks for the response.

My friend's username is Stringer2dogs. He hasn't posted anything, but lurks in the background and just gets your advice to other people and applies it to his own team. Link to his team: http://supercoach.heraldsun.com.au/afl/classic/other_teams/?tid=144196

Thanks again.
I do have a reputation of responding to every question put to me. :)

Your team has way too many Midpricers, and not enough solid Keepers. It's likely you won't be able to complete a solid team of Keepers from here. let's look at the break up of your team.

10 Keepers, 6 Midpricers, and you already have all the current downgrade targets!
I do have to ask, how and why did you bench M Crouch last week, but still fielded both Parish and Keays?
Your Midpricers need to be played before your Rookies, or you need to trade those Midpricers out!
Your Forward line, Ruck and Midfield will do for the moment, but your Def line needs an awful lot of work!
Normally I'd say trade out Papley, but there are no downgrade targets. So you need to trade out Parish, probably to Trengove, and then upgrade Brown in your Defence. You're going to need some value picks along the way, if you are going to get anywhere near a full team. You also have no Round 13 Defenders at all on your list, and will have bye problems coming up. With that in mind, I suggest you get Rance.

Good luck, let's see if we can get this team climbing the Rankings!

Hey Rowsus,

Resisted temptation to trade last week as I was just not sure which way to go.
Snuck home in my league match which was great anyway.
With overall out of the equation (ranked around 11k) and only 16 trades it's getting tough.
With no trades last week it means I still have BKen, Hewett, Keays, Ruggles, T.Cole and my mistake Hutchings
Now what I guess is my question. Still short for round 13 players but just have to cop it.
Do I keep BKen and Hutchings? BKen has potential to score better than Hutchings but his JS could now be shaky compared to Hutchings. However hearing he injured his ankle in warm up two weeks ago and he starred in VFL last week I am leaning towards keeping BKen for now.
Both will drop in price and with Hall out aswell my fwd line looks bare.

My thinking was I have a couple of options:
1. Hewett to Collins and Hutchings to Dahl via Hall/Tippa DPP which reopens M/F link
2. Hewett/Hutchings out for Collins/Rocky via Tippa (no m/f link)
3. Hutchings/BKen out (both gonna lose cash) to Collins/Dahlhaus + $74 cash
4. Hutchings/Hall out to Collins/Dalhhaus +162 cash

Any thoughts appreciated
Hey Slammer,
both BenKen and Hutchings will drop in price next time they play, but I think Hutchings has more potential to go on a little hot streak than BenKen. Hutchings scores were pretty stable, outside of that 42, which drops out of his pricing after this week. BenKen's 29 is at the front of his pricing, so is there for two more weeks. Add in that Hutchings went: 106, 89, 121, 58, 110, 110, 96 at the end of last season, something I don't think BenKen will manage this season, and probably why you got Hutchings in the first place, and I'd hold Hutchings, and trade Kennedy. Your M/F link will return, and it's too early to be basing your Trading on re-eatablishing it now. Halls an interesting one. With his bye next week, I'd hold him this week, and get more info, before trading him out.
I'm not sure where BenKen sits right now, Mid or Fwd, so it's hard to know what your options are. But I think if possible, trade him, and hold Hutchings.

We might have to give Aaron Young the "Harry Belafonte" Award!

Belafonte famously said: "It took me 20 years to become an overnight success!"

We might have to pull Damian Barrett's coat, and tell him to get on this site! He might find "scoops" like that 2 or 3 years quicker! ;)

Thanks Rows,

BKen sits in my fwd line but can swing Tippa there if needed
Guess it then is a decision between Rocky in mids or Dalhhaus in FWD line opening up m/f link
Thinking of taking risk with Rocky as Dalhhaus has fairly high BE ... ??

Happy to help, Slammer.
Rocky is a risk, but has way more upside than Dahl, if he can produce his usual end of season form.

Thanks mate.. Tough call ... I hate these last minute decisions. You either have a good weekend or a bad one.
Knowing my luck I will go with Rocky and he will get injured.

Hey Rowsus,

I seem to have stuffed up my structure, I've got a full mid without DPP and a full FWD line without DPP. My mid is full premo (except for Wines) while I have BKen and Menadue sitting on my forward bench. Is it worth downgrading say BKen to a floating donut at this point of time in the year, or is it too early for that?

Cheers :)

Hey dyii,
If your team is "bye safe", and you can fit a FD in, then no problem. Otherwise, you need to wait until after the byes.

Hi Rowsus - first question for you of the season :)

Just wondering if you had an opinion on who might be the best Giants mid to trade in post byes?

Hi PC,
first of all, let me say well done on your Round 12 so far! I hope you can really bring it home, and nail a huge one! :)
I don't like Vanilla answers, but I think it has to be Ward.
Figures include Round 12 scores and Price for upcoming round 13.

Ward $530,400 - 142, 97, 109, 137, 90, 132, 116, 88, 124, 72, 125, 101 - ave 111.1
Shiel $547,200 - 102, 98, 101, 108, 92, 114, 92, 120, 109, 118, 115, 88 - ave 104.8
Coniglio $527,800 - DNP, 78, 96, 126, 127, 117, 110, 118, 135, 95, 66, 108 - ave 106.9

Shiel probably has the consistency this season, but Ward has the better ceiling (this season). Coniglio has been given run with roles in some games, and that probably rules him out. Ward has the bonus of being cheaper than Shiel, too.

Thanks Rowsus - appreciated! Your Rd12 score is looking pretty nice as well :)

I figured I needed a Giants mid to finish my mid line off, especially considering their draw post byes! FTB is probably not the answer as I have Shaw, but a nice strongly scoring mid could be the go.

The fly in the ointment will be getting enough players on the field during the byes though, which may mean the M8 spot I have saved for a Giant is filled by someone else (maybe Hanners).

Wow, there was some foresight in these comments! The decision would have made a good or bad weekend, although, not with the person Slammer thought.

Fortunately also went Rocky this week, meh score, however still on the park. Many will not jump on him this week however his BE will be super low. a decent score and he will jump out of reach for many, poor score or injury and it will be a wasted trade in.

Big fan of Ward and would have brought him in if Rocky didn't come in.

Difficulty is cannot see the pattern of where he scores well or poorly. seems to be mixed against good and poor teams and win/losses. Poor scores against Gold Coast, Adelaide (contested side) and Saints (fairly contested), good scores vs Bulldogs (won) and Geelong (lost) who also contested sides. Was considering from a league POV.

Anything standout to you Rowsus on what drives his pattern of scoring? Whilst mids now complete, Rocky is one of those mids and always need to know who is the back up plan if injured.

Hey Mate love your thoughts on who would be better to bring in as of next week -
Gunston - JJK or any other premo fwds you would recommend
Im looking to bolster my fwd line for rnd13

current fwd line is - Dusty, Buddy, Hall, Stringer, Kerridge, Petracca, Mcgovern, Redman FD
Plan to unload Stringer to Lids in rnd 14 (was hoping Stringer would have had better value but oh well)

Or should i be looking at the Zmerret/Zorko types ? already having Buddy as KPF
