Hey Rowsus.

With the injury to Kurt Tippett, do you think that Callum Sinclair presents a viable R/F swinging option àla Max Gawn of 2015. Feel free to wait a couple of weeks to gather information if you need to.

Wow, there was some foresight in these comments! The decision would have made a good or bad weekend, although, not with the person Slammer thought.

Fortunately also went Rocky this week, meh score, however still on the park. Many will not jump on him this week however his BE will be super low. a decent score and he will jump out of reach for many, poor score or injury and it will be a wasted trade in.
Yep .. Lucky I went Rocky.. Thanks Rowsus.. Hutchings/BKen was a line ball decision. Ended up trading BKen

Hey Mate love your thoughts on who would be better to bring in as of next week -
Gunston - JJK or any other premo fwds you would recommend
Im looking to bolster my fwd line for rnd13

current fwd line is - Dusty, Buddy, Hall, Stringer, Kerridge, Petracca, Mcgovern, Redman FD
Plan to unload Stringer to Lids in rnd 14 (was hoping Stringer would have had better value but oh well)

Or should i be looking at the Zmerret/Zorko types ? already having Buddy as KPF
Interested in the answer to this too now that Dahl is out - I had brought him for his non R13 bye - but is Lids a better long term option?

Hi Rowsus

Dahl and Tippett have stuffed my bye set ups and I need to trade in at least one Fwd who will play Rd 13. I will probably move Dahl to the mid and trade him to a premium but Tippett is the problem. Not interested in Zorko at his price and B/E, boat has sailed on Wells and already traded Barlow out. Current fwd line is

Dusty, Zerret, Dahl, Tippett, T Greene and Tippa with Uber and Sumner on the bench.

It might seem left field but I am considering Motlop. His best scores are at Simmonds and he has 4 games there after the byes and only one at his bogy ground the MCG. Geelong in fact have a good run home. I would never pick him for a full season but he seems have good patches of 8 or 9 games often. High risk I know but no risk no gain.

Hey Rowsus,

Which Ruckman do you think has the best ruck draw from here? (ie: based on points each opposition rucks have been conceeding?) [I remember you came up with a useful table in the past and was hoping you could crunch the numbers again :) )
Although I don't have Nic Nat, I think it's quite relevant this week too! I'm mainly asking as I'm pretty keen on bringing in Lycett now that Nic Nat has gone down and was wondering how his draw was like from here on in.

Thanks for your work!

Hi Rowsus,
Hope all is good. Just wondering if you happen to have any stats regarding how the absence of Naitanui has affected Priddis in previous years? I'm contemplating bringing him in this round as i need a rd 14 mid premium and i'm deciding between him and R.Gray.

Hi Rowsus, feeling very down now as I copped a double injury whammy over the weekend to 2 of my premium forwards which sent my overall rankings spiralling downwards and will only be worse off this week being unable to field 18 players.
I will hold and assess Dahlhaus next week but Tippett has to go this week sadly and since my season is already in tatters, I figured I might as well trade in a good KPF for my F6 position.
Tossing up between JJK and Gunston but the choice is very hard. Would love to hear your thoughts on who you think is the better player from here on in.
Or should I just wait for next week and bring in both Montagna/Lids who should average higher?
Toby Greene with his soft upcoming draw and cheapish price is also under consideration for me.
Thank you as usual for your great help.

Hey Rows,

Thanks again for the assistance last week. Took Rocky instead of Dahlhaus.
Turned out pretty good.
Looking at this week I am gonna struggle to get 18 this week.
Only 14 trades left so getting worried.
Thinking JSmith has to go for Trengove to give us another RD13 but from there I am stuck.
Hutchings, Tippa, Davis, Keays, Ruggles are all in my sights to get rid of but apart from Davis they are all likely to play. Davis will not give me enough cash to upgrade to anyone and the rest will not make any change to RD13 players.
Hutchings to ZMerritt or Gunston would be nice but still would leave only 17 rd13 players.
Similiar to others my question is
Do I bring in key position player like Gunston or a mid in ZMerritt this week via Hutchings?
Or just hold with the one trade in Smith to Trengove and see how things pan out next week and cop the low score.

Cheers

I was looking at next weeks trades earlier and considering Deledio, what do you think he can score from here, or do you think it would be better to avoid him with Richmonds season all but over?
If I was going to bring a forward in, Deledio would be right in the mix. I was hoping for Zorko like scores, where, excluding the last fortnight, Zorko has been a consistent 110ish player. I brought Deledio in with the hope that he'd be around that area, and that Dustin Martin would be far more volatile. Whilst Martin did drop a 74, I was expecting his high to be around 135ish, and these big scores throw a spanner in predictive works.

I reckon Deledio will average around 107 from now.on - but he has the potential to go way up into the 110's. Whilst he used to be extremely durable, there are question marks over his ability to stay on the park.

Therefore, ask yourself:

Am I prepared to bring in a player with a seemingly heightened risk of missing a or more game(s)?

If you have the trades, the structure, or the backup, I'd seriously consider him. He's a pretty good POD option, and he does have the pedigree.

Of course, freak things happen to anyone, like Dahlhaus shows.

If you have decent options to come on in the event of a one-week layoff, like a Kerridge type, or if you have plenty of DPP links to effectively give you extra coverage, then I reckon the risk is worthwhile.

Big fan of Ward and would have brought him in if Rocky didn't come in.

Difficulty is cannot see the pattern of where he scores well or poorly. seems to be mixed against good and poor teams and win/losses. Poor scores against Gold Coast, Adelaide (contested side) and Saints (fairly contested), good scores vs Bulldogs (won) and Geelong (lost) who also contested sides. Was considering from a league POV.

Anything standout to you Rowsus on what drives his pattern of scoring? Whilst mids now complete, Rocky is one of those mids and always need to know who is the back up plan if injured.
I can't put my finger on anything specific, though I'm not sure he is as hard as some Midfielders. In the GC game he looked set for a 120+ score, then a couple of minutes before half time, he copped an elbow in the face. He only gathered 6 more disposals in the 2nd half, and didn't miss the next week. That could lead you to think he doesn't cope with pain/discomfort as well as some Mids. Some Mids thrive on that sort of stuff, and it only makes them go harder. Ward just seems to throw in those 3 or 4 disappointing scores each season. It's about the only thing holding him back, from being a bankable Super Prem, I reckon.

Hey Maso,
Gunston for vanilla consistency, JJK for the rollercoaster. If I was taking one this week, it would be Gunston (I have both, of course). JJK might potentially tear Brisbane a new one, but long term, I want to see if NicNat being out affects JJK's supply or not. It only has to cost him a goal or two each week, and that's a huge difference in his SC score.

Hey Eagling,
Sydney have Melbourne this week (6th toughest team for Rucks to score against), and the Bulldogs (toughest team for Rucks to score against) straight after the bye. I wouldn't suggest anyone grab Sinclair this week, but I also wouldn't judge him on his next two scores either! After that, Sydney's Draw is quite Ruck friendly, with 4 easy Rucking games,3 moderate games, and 1 hard one. He might be an option in that period, but it all depends on how quickly Tippett is recovering. The 3 week wait might give a clearer picture on Tippett's progress.

Even though Kennedy scored well, as did Hutchings, I'm glad you stuck with Hutchings. Sometimes when you make a mistake, it's best just to ride it out, until you get at least something out of it. De Goey as a starter in Rnd 1 fit that description for me. I thought he was a priority to trade out early on, but he repaid me with some good scores a few weeks ago, then I traded him out.
The Eagles Midfield has been labbelled as "fragile" in some media after the Adelaide loss. If they are going to show they can toughen up, it will be hard nuts like Hutchings that might lead the way. You might get another decent score from him this week, regaining your lost money, and leaving him with a very low B/E against Essendon in Round 15!

"Long term...." is the key here. It's really hard to ever recommend Deledio, as you never know when he will go missing again. I'd leave him alone, or get him as the very last thing you do, as long as it shifts a reliable cover to F7.

Hi Man1,
he's certainly a high risk play, but your analysis seems ok. Only 1 MCG game, 2 interstate games, and 7 Simonds and Etihad games to come. It would seem give him the opportunity to get on a bit of a streak. I wouldn't be getting him, but here's the thing. If you want him, you should grab him soon, as it's too late to grab him if he suddenly goes 130 and 140 in consecutive weeks, as the cream is gone then. Tough call, but a gutsy call if you can get him before he lights up. Then you just have to hope he does light up, at some stage!

Hey Rowsus, hope you're well. I'm currently sitting 343 points behind the leader, in 65th place. My question is a 2 pronged one, one relating to strategy, and one relating to players.

First off, am I realistically within striking range? I like to believe that I am. However, I don't know what history can tell us about this, and if Im not, well I think it's better to know now then later I guess. I hope I am though!

My second question is one of players. I have a round 13 mid in mind, however I thought I would ask if there are other, better options. Are there any standout round 13 mids in your opinion?

Cheers in advance!

Hi AiW, all is well with me, and i'm hoping it is likewise for you.
let me answer the easy bit first, even though it's a question you didn't ask. I'm not sure Gray is the answer, if Priddis isn't. I haven't looked at the Priddis numbers yet, but let's look at the Gray numbers first!
Gray's scores in 2015, when Wines didn't play:
DNP, 134, 143, 134, 90, 131, 118, 87, 121 - 8 games at 120
Gray's score in 2015, when Wines did play:
122, 114, 73, 119, 136, 87, 95, 63, 123, 113, 122, 81, 113 - 13 games at 105
Grays average in 2016 so far, after playing every game with Wines - 104!
His scoring is too inconsistent, when Wines plays. He can still hit good scores, but is more likely to hit a bad one with Wines in the side. That's his last 25 games with Wines at a consistent 104-105 average, over 2 seasons!
Priddis
Last 3 seasons 55 games at 111
With NicNat 51 games at 112
Without NicNat 4 games at 97
It's too small of a sample pool to be definitive, but it does give you reason to pause!
