When presented with 50/50 decisions for non-rookie players, do you choose the:

A. One with the better history?
B. Younger of the two?
C. One which has the better preseason form?
D. One which has the better upside?
E. One who plays for the club you support?

A, B or D. C and E have no impact on their scores (C arguable).

Mixture of B and D for me. EG lynch v Nick Roo, I'd prefer Lynch. Hanners v JPK, I'd prefer Hanners. My only exception (or double standard) is I prefer Pendles over Treloar as Pendles is just super elite.

A. If they are a top premium (Goldy vs Gawn)
B. If they are a non-top premium (T.Mitchell vs S.Mitchell)
C. If they are a rookie
D. If they are a mid pricer (D.Swallow vs Thurlow)
E. If you've applied A-D and can't split them (Treloar vs Parker)

When presented with 50/50 decisions for non-rookie players, do you choose the:

A. One with the better history? Critical input
B. Younger of the two? not always, however, too old can override A
C. One which has the better preseason form? no, unless concern of role change is confirmed
D. One which has the better upside? yes, can be a factor, however, caveats as this can be subjective
E. One who plays for the club you support? no

D Dual Position capability - potn can be a factor

F. Flip the remote

Probably D. - upside, but then it probably wouldn't be a 50/50 for me unless large injury risk is also attached.
So will look at at bye structure, scoring history against upcoming draw, historical slow/fast starts

Agree that bye structure is an important consideration once the main crux of the team takes shape.

Definitely not, IMO. Cash made by the worst rookie not that much, and not required to finish team. Captain's loophole worth heaps.

As a fwd or mid?
Depends on where the other rookies fall but at the moment I see the most important spot to have loophole available is F6, with good cheap bench options like Black and Eddy who I don't really want to rely on them on-field but would like to have available with the E on.

Lets assume player A has 14 cash cows and a donut for loopholes while player B has 15 cash cows and everything else is equal. Both players start upgrading by rnd 6 and use 2 rookies each week to downgrade to a rookie and upgrade to a premium. By rnd 12 both players have traded their first 14 starting rookies. By this time the first downgrade rookie you traded into your team in rnd 6 is now ready to cull. So player B's 15th starting cash cow is surplus to requirements and probably not as good as the cash cow that player A had the opportunity to see in rnd 4 and 5 before trading into their team in rnd 6. Plus Player A has avoided Danger's VC score of 75 in rnd 2 and Pendles VC score of 85 in rnd 5.

Just remember that you don't know who the "worst rookie" is before the season starts; in reality you actually deprive yourself of 1 chance to pick the "best rookie". Maybe only a slight thing but you can't take as a given that the 1 rookie you forego out of the 15 or so you were going to start will be a low scorer. Last year it might have been Papley for example.

Furthermore you are not likely to be without a doughnut for weeks and weeks. Generally it will only be a week or 2 and if not then that is a great problem to have.

Finally the captains loophole is not necessarily a licence to print points particularly if it's absence is only for a week or 2. It is not that uncommon to lock in your VC for 125 and have you alternate C go 150+; or not lock in the 125 and have your alternate C go sub 100.

A gets more than a 50% weighting for me, and that would include both historical average and durability.

Picking proven players has made such a difference.

I think he's saying that the benefit of starting a FD for loophole has merits over an extra cash cow rookie.

Welcome Jeff.

From the SCS home page, at the top left click on forum.

From there, scroll down the page and through the next few pages and you will see threads dedicated to each and every JLT game thats been played so far.

Inside each of these threads, generally on the most recent or second most recent page (higher number), you will find an extremely handy table posted by KLo30, featuring stats and supercoach scores for every player from that match. If you dont see the scores at first, scroll towards the right of the table and you will find them there :)
