I don’t understand the confusion and argument of lack of consistency with contact with umpires rulings.
The tribunal is independent of the AFL. Hawkins worked a deal with the AFL QC before the tribunal hearing to plead guilty and recommend a 1 week suspension, if he didn’t plead guilty AFL QC would have pushed for 2. We don’t know what the outcome would have been if it ran the normal course.
This weeks incidents were referred direct, argued, given fines & challenged by the AFL.
I think the media is confusing the public by suggesting that the AFL is challenging itself. The MRO is AFL, not the tribunal.

Fyfe tested out his knee in running exercises at Cockburn on Thursday, but the Dockers expect the skipper to play.
Walters trained with the main group after dealing with an injury to a ligament that supports his kneecap since the round six Western Derby, and Wilson is set to return from back soreness.
"Stephen Hill won't play, Walters and Wilson (we are) really optimistic on, if they get through training, which we think they will, they'll play," Lyon said......

Interesting to see how both teams perform after the Showdown , huge emotional game and physical toll.
CEY and Greenwood have been good for you guys this season , Gibbs has dropped off.
Wonder if Fog has the tank at this stage.
Be curious to see if you go smaller up forward with Tex and McG both out.
