Sunday carnage has stepped up too another level.
T Mac, Dev and a forced (C) on Fyfe due to a late in to Ahearn.
Knew I was due for a bad season, but the last few weeks have been a disaster. (just have to laugh about it now.)

Anyway, onwards and hopefully upwards. Will keep on going and try and make the most of this season.
Fyfe to ?

The Fyfe injury will be very interesting for the coaches in the top 10. Will be intriguing to see who holds and who trades. We should get an idea to see who still has trades to keep going. Best of luck to all the coaches here, who are in with a chance. Will be cheering you home.

Looks like im going to finish with an underwhelming 2243 with Gawn captain. Heeney, Fyfe, Oliver, Smith a few premiums who just haven’t fired this week.

I'm celebrating already, number 1 pick on its way to Ikon Park. Will the Blues trade it for 2 picks?
Maybe the way to go. Haven't had much success on our number one picks over time. Cripps(13) and Curnow (12) have been better selections.

If you buy into the hype that Jack Lukosius kid is meant to be a once in a generation player. Be game to trade that away!
here we go again , all the hype in the world before a kid plays a game

Boyd , Schache , McCartin to name a few in recent seasons to name a few.

From the little bits and pieces he does look very good.

Hamish Ogilvie is probably on the plane right now to Ikon Park working on a deal for the # 1 pick involving Mitch McGovern and/or Rory Sloane.

or just wait a few seasons for a club to develop Lukosius and then lure him back home , by then JJ , Lynch and Tex will be gone so might be Fog , Lukosius and McG.

Carlton would be dangerous with Curnow & Lukosius

Haha, maybe not Sloane, not in our age profile.

Sloane would be part of a 3 club trade.

Carlton need to target some stars now , so Shiel would be number 1 priority.

Cripps needs some help big time.

Think guys like SPS , Fisher , Dow etc etc have shown enough

Hey Herbie looks like you're all over it. You are right, we're into Shiel, similar to Lynch to the Pies, helps when these players grew up barracking for your club. Do you want a recruiting role at Ikon Park?:giggle:

I would love to but would try and convince Crisps and Curnow to the Holden Centre :)

Shiel is the one (and Hopper) , Giants have let players go in the past , depends how highly they regard Taranto , Setterfield , Shipley etc and who is in their academy coming through.

Is the premiership window still open for the Giants and Shiel is the big question.

Geez I hope we can land Lynch and he gets his body right , Lynch and Cox together with de Goey , WHE , Treloar , Stephenson etc etc

Definitely looking promising at pieland. The Giants need to retain their talent, so I'd be surprised if they didn't fight to keep Shiel, Kelly might be on his horse in 2 years to North. Noted De Goey only signed for 2, probably promised $1m after that.

This years draft is pretty strong, so hopefully we can land number 1, maybe a priority pick, just bluffing that we don't want it. We also have a couple of other clubs 2nd rounders.

Don't really think Shiel is worth it, barely a top 25 midfielder in the league. For pick 1 you'd someone like Cripps/Kelly/Bontempelli especially pick 1 of what people call a "super draft".

do you think whoever gets Pick 1 then will bypass Lukosius and pick a mid instead ?

We have a massive 5 weeks coming up which will tell a lot where we are at and where we are heading.

The thing with the Giants is how they have worked out all their contracts and if they are back ended.

Scully was on huge money.

7th season now so you would think Cameron , Coniglio , Davies , Greene , Kelly , Patton , Shiel , Ward etc would all be on $ 500 k + a season easily.

Salary restraints may mean they let some players go like they did in the past.

Ahern , WHE , Pickett were all on $ 300,000.00 and were moved on to free up cash.

Adams , O'Rourke , Treloar , Tyson were all let go as they new what was coming through.

If they want high selections again it would not surprise me if Shiel and/or Hopper left for the right deal.

From the few bits and pieces I have seen, if I was the Blues and didn't want Lukosius as a FWD at pick 1, I certainly wouldn't be trading pick 1 for Shiel. The boy from Geelong, Sam Walsh, is where turning my attention. Shades of Josh Kelly about him.
My view on it is that pick 1 is almost certainly going to be overrated.

Raynor-2017
Mcgrath-2016
Weitering-2015
Mccartin-2014
Boyd-2013
Whitfield-2012
Patton-2011
Swallow-2010

Out of this group, Raynor probably too early to decide, however literally every other pick 1 has been mediocre or worse than expectation. If you were to trade pick 1 for pick 4/5/6 + late first round pick you're almost guaranteed to be better off.

Boyd/Mccartin/Weitering I'm not sure will even be AFL standard
Mcgrath/Swallow B graders, lacks point of difference to excel

On the bright side
Patton-I actually still have strong hopes for
Whitfield-Only 1st pick in the last 8 years that's actually somewhat deserving of the potential opportunity cost.

REGARDLESS, despite having history against him, I'm still leaning towards the belief that if you have pick 1, pick Lukosius. We saw with Brisbane last year that you always pick best available if you have pick 1 or a pick that high even if he doesn't particular fit your needs.

You either keep pick 1 and pick Lukosius, or you trade pick 1 out to a club that needs him at a ridiculously high price.
