Kelly desperate to go home, but not desperate enough to go to the Dockers, and Lachie Neale refusing to play next year if they didn’t trade him, is there something wrong there or what??
Neale apparently listed the players and officials that he was not happy with and told the Dockers honchoes. And you know your club smells when you have player managers (of Kelly in this case) saying "I have had players there before and I don't want him (Kelly) going there." IMO Bell's biggest task will be to give the Dockers administration some credibility and he might just be able to do it as long as he can keep Ross Lying in his box.

I dont know,
I would say that the biggest losers were the Saints: imho Hanneberry is past his best, they were in the hunt for just about all big names like Shiel, Lycett etc, but could not get any.

Freo and Richmond I agree, but I think Essendon paid too much for Shiel, like Hawthorn for Wingard.
Melbourne favorite: as a Nostradamus Lloyd has always been a disaster.

Surely GCS must be wooden spoon favourites for 2019.

Blues axe experienced quartet

Liam Twomey
JON ANDERSON
CARLTON has continued its list re-shaping with today's axing of an experienced quartet in Nick Graham, Sam Kerridge, Jed Lamb and Sam Rowe.
All four were regular faces in 2018, with Lamb playing 18 matches, Rowe 17, Kerridge and Graham 10 each.
They come after Irish recruits Ciaran Byrne and Cillian McDaid decided to return to Ireland last week.
It will leave the Blues with only four players in Ed Curnow, Matthew Kreuzer, Marc Murphy and Kade Simpson to have played with the club prior to 2012.
And it will see them enter 2019 with one of the youngest lists in Carlton's history as they attempt to rebuild following almost two decades of little September action.

That's now almost a third of this year's list that won't be playing AFL next year. That's got to be close to a record wouldn't it?

Tremendous amount of respect for Lecca, not only was he a gun player throughout his career, but he was also a top bloke. About 5 years ago my Aunty was going through Chemotherapy in hospital, and after he was done seeing the kids, he popped into the chemo ward and spent a fair amount of time with everyone there signing autographs, taking photos and just having a chat with everyone including my Aunty and my Mum who was with her. Meant a lot to my Aunty and instantly became a family favourite. What a top bloke.

Congrats on a great career Lecca!!

My wife will be disappointed. Lecras was one of the few players she knew and affectionately called ‘Lecraz’ (she knows how it’s pronounced).

Lids is her other favourite because of his nickname.

I'll never forget the night I headed down to Etihad Stadium, looking forward to a cracking game against the Eagles, then to my dismay watched Heath Hocking of all people head over to line up on the Frenchman.... Genius coaching Matty Knights!! Even smarter coaching leaving Hocking on him as LeCras kicked goal after goal... bloody 12 of them!!!!

Ahhh Matty Knights... I certainly had a few choice words of advice for you that night.....

How would that happen LITS ?

Kelly's current contract will be finished but I thought Delisted Free Agency tends to be used for fringe players rather than topliners.
It likely wouldn't happen that way, but could (and would be nice considering they wouldn't trade this year, lol).

Kelly will be out of contract at the end of next season, then provided he still wants to come home which is a near certainty... the Cats and Eagles would again try to trade. If no deal could be reached I think he would then have to go into the draft. He would set his terms, then make it be known he wants to be at West Coast, like Luke Ball did in 2009 saying he wanted to go to Collingwood only, then it would require all clubs to pass on him.

Freo would be the major hurdle who could draft him ahead of us, but clubs I don't think are in the habit of taking in players in this situation that don't want to be at a club.

The most likely scenario is GEE and WCE trying to do a deal at the end of next season. West Coast's offer will be less than what we where offering this year though. We are usually a very fair club to deal with regarding trades and more often than not we give overs in most deals so I would think something will get done via a trade next season. But it would be nice to see him walk via the Draft after what has happened.
