I always find this one of the most useful threads of the pre-season - seeing who is totally confident in certain players... there's always a fair bit of discrepancy amongst the forum.

For what it's worth, I define a Lock as someone who is guaranteed to be in your side come round one (assuming fully fit), regardless of what transpires between now and then.

I was just about to start a thread of this kind. Great minds think alike Zagbag!
But I was wondering if we could add thoughts on the "fear of missing out" and the "fear of going pear shaped".
My only locks at this point are Lockity Lock Whitfield and Danger.

FOMO: Blakely in the Freo midfield could go 110.
Dunkley in the Bulldogs midfield could go 110.
Whitfield in the GWS midfield could go 110.
Grundy just keeps going.

FOGPS: Laird might have to share more with Brodie Smith and Wayne Milera and average 90.
Danger might suffer the 12th season decline and start missing several games.
Lloyd moves to a wing and averages 85.

………...FOGPS: Laird might have to share more with Brodie Smith and Wayne Milera and average 90.......…….
I had to 'google' FOGPS to see what that meant and 'google', as usual, cleared that up for me.
FOGPS stands for "Friends of Greenmeadow Primary School" o_O :D

Don’t think these 4 will leave my team at any stage. Whitfield a close 5th.

Titch
Grundy
Danger, Heeney

Birchall and Bennell if named rd 1 as well.

Laird
D Martin
Dangerfield and Heeney

Still shattered about Docherty as he was a clear top 5 pick for my team.

Can't see not picking those four if they play round 1. I'm keen on Merrett but if he had any sort of concussion issue again pre-season then I will avoid him.

Whitfield is locked.
Neale is locked. Sloane and Zerret are nearly locked, cos I love a "value" premo.
Grundy and Gawn are anti-locked (!), I definitely won't be starting either of them.
Danger is locked. Heeney almost.

I'm with you, Leroy.
There's no way I'll be starting either of Grundy or Gawn, if it can at all be avoided. At this stage I'll be starting Mummy at R3, and hoping to find 2 stepping stone types, or Goldstein, at R1/2.

Locked:
Whitfield (Burton - nearly)
(Neale - nearly)
(Mumford - nearly)
Dangerfield, Heeney.

Sloane is great value and on paper a great chance to bounce back but he has consistently scored poorly in the past two years when tagged and I still feel they’ll always tag him knowing the Crouch brothers do about half the damage that he does.

I’m also locking Neale, Heeney, Danger, Merrett and Whitfield. I agree on Gawn but not on Grundy. He’s the only player in my initial team who I feel hasn’t properly justified his price but I think it’s likely he stays within distance of this years average.

Do you have any data to confirm this assertion?
