At the moment of the expensive players you mention I am only starting Laird and Danger and Laird is no good thing to stay top two. While Grawndy could well remain the top two rucks the question is probably one of how far above the third and fourth rucks will they be. If it is 20-25 points then the money they do/do not lose is probably a non issue. If it is 5-10 points then that is much more of an issue I think. Currently I have neither o_O but that could change ten times before Rd 1...
I've looked at and it depends where the cash goes ... not a lot of certainties in the midfield, top end defenders are fully priced, not much value in the forwards and a low scoring line.

I think the forward line might get a bit of bump in scoring this year. I'm pretty bullish on many of the premo forwards from Wingard up. I think 100+ is a cut-off for #6+ish no worries, whereas some years its like 93ish for #9...

I'm not so sure ... only see an injury free Paddy as a realistic chance. A few other contenders that could get close but as for a season ave don't see them as making it.

Danger, Heeney, Smith (better 2nd half), Menegola, Kelly, Gray, Dunkley (risky), Wingard. I'm struggling to split them beyond Heeney. Buddy (might actually train this season), Tom 'hands-in-back rule lover' Hawkins, and does the Hoff play loose... they could improve? Does Gresham, Mclean, Wallis or another KPF, Darling perhaps, get there? Can't predict it, but if Hawks lose defenders again jump on Gunston, otherwise avoid. Does Luke Breust roll through a few more centre clearances. Plenty of opportunity from the options this year, feels stronger than most years to me.

Got them all on my list but think a season 100 ave is being too unrealistic. 90+ yep .. no real issues with that ...

for all the people saying grawndy will drop in price are they forgetting the new ruck rules which CLEARLY favour both of them?

or are they taking that into effect and think it won't make much if any difference?

Most are taking Grundy it feels. It is the Pruess factor warning people off Gawn.

Talk on radio this morning that Sandi may not be travelling that well at Freo. Will be interested to see if that story has any substance and JLT could be a guide. If Sandi is out of action anyone interested in Darcy at $361k?

If he had DPP status he could have solved my F 3/4 conundrum ..

Not as confident on ZClarke any more unfortunately. Not mentioned in match sim reports on bomberblitz.

Draper played ruck against TBC and apparently kicked 3 goals. McKernan also kicked at least 2.

Barely seen in the highlights video but he played.
@Bomber18 you're basically my canary in the coal mine for ZClarke mate. If Sandi is a bad as it sounds (must be a decent strain for Ross to reference it publically) then Darcy suddenly comes right into R2 calcs for me.

I did take a look at Darcy's price but at $361k, it's probably too high for me to consider. I'd probably rather take a punt on Kreuzer at $440k at that range.

I think Z.Clarke didn't have that great a game at the match sim on Friday, still the JLT to come which I think he can play in (although it's odd that Gibbons apparently can't play in the JLT). Not ruled out yet but not as confident on ZClarke after a poor match sim display and guys like Draper and McKernan having better games. Probably realistically needs an injury to McKernan to become a solid choice.

Hopefully Fort looks really dominant in the JLT and can take that No.1 ruck spot for the first few weeks. I was considering whether I would consider something like Fort R2, Bines R3 - not sure as yet, but it could work as long as Fort plays early. .

$360k is a gross price but Darcy looks capable of a 90+ av to me. Would need Sandi ruled out for 10weeks or something otherwise I think I would rather go the Fort Bines route. I'm with you that is this looks viable I will be strongly tempted. Again, needs a couple of solid performances in the JLT. Abbot also ruled out for a few weeks is probably needed. I thought he looked good last year.

If Fort could string 4 weeks together and we got a view at a fit Mumford for 2 rounds an early upgrade fort to Mummy would be on the cards for me.

Would you start with the cash to bring Mumford in ?

If you had a Fort, Bines R/F set up, you could possibly upgrade a forward rookie to Mumford as well or even a mid or defence rookie with the right DPP set up.

Given he had a shot at solo ruck last year and averaged 74 is there something I'm missing in the assessment?
Or is he just finally maturing as a player and is ready to make the jump?

……….Dual All Australian Max Gawn and newcomer Braydon Preuss went head-to-head in the ruck throughout the scratch match in what was a pretty even battle.
Worth noting was how regularly Gawn pushed deep into attack after playing an intercepting role in the second half of last year after Lever's season-ending knee injury...……..

Did his PCL very early on last season and I think from memory was semi-rushed back into the senior side coz Sandi broke down...so maybe came back underdone...

Has dropped a lot of weight, puppy fat into muscle, training the house down, all that good stuff yadayada....still not 21 so there'll be volatility and i'd expect to see him fade as the season goes on...but I think he can probably put a string of worthwhile scores together early if given the chance....just whether he gets that chance is the 360k question
