hahaha , case of have too , apart from GI and Smith , I don't know any other NRL players at all.
I’m right there beside you. I am going to be really annoyed if I do better in this than AFL. If I do it will prove I play with too much emotion!

this is my fear too , I said the same to Pookus about his AFL SC , maybe the less knowledge and thought is better (I spend hours and hours on the AFL and it gets me know where).

I did ok in the NFL because I had good starting rookies (and great advice from the forum) so my thinking here is if you get the right NRL rookies to start with then wait for the $$$ , look at averages , weekly scores etc etc and you might be competitive at least.

My best Big Bash season occured while I was overseas for 8 weeks and spent 5 minutes before Happy Hour each day.

Less might be best

One of my big NRL man-crushes and stalwart of my current side Victor Radley only played 50 minutes at lock in a World Club Challenge game yesterday. The Roosters were not at their complete fittest roster, but it is still a worry for him as a pick. He really wants to see 60 mins in the middle of the park. He probably could still rise a little in value since he is priced so low, but might not be the cut-price gun I was hoping. I am looking around at other mid-rangers who might potentially earn more cash, but it will hurt me dearly to have to trade him out. Will keep an eye on his minutes in upcoming trials and report

Yeah most of these picks are looking pretty good. Obviously those rookies will change with teams lists, but very few main picks to watch out for.
-Mann has to go if he doesn't get the hooker spot at the Knights, I actually think he will miss out to Levi. Trial games should tell.
-Radley I have mentioned above. Could still be a good pick yet though!
-Abbey will be on the wing, and would need some lucky tries to be a viable option. But even when he played fullback he was a massive trap. Absolute fantasy garbage, even famously so. He averaged 12 points and once scored a -6, still a record to this day! I assume you have equivilent AFL players who are legendarily bad as fantasy picks. Take him out immediately.

So much money in the bank! I am not necessarily saying this is a bad thing, just rarely see quite that much in reserve.
Do people do this in AFLSC? I never even considered it. Maybe I need to go back and play with my midfielders some more. This could change everything!

Essentially I have that much money in the bank , because I don't have a clue what I am doing ?

Once Round 1 is closer and I get a better understanding of which rookies are named I can spend it.

Although now it looks like I can upgrade Abbey so I might do that.

Cheers

@Pookus McFly

do you know any cheap hookers ?
Genuine question or entrapment?

Elijah Taylor is quite cheap for a DPP (2nd row and hooker) considering he had a weird sort of year last year with injuries and minutes being chopped at different points. Could be a POD if he goes back to 80 minutes (in the 2nd row) as he racks up tackles for fun. Only downside is that he isn’t a player that racks up attacking stats often.

Brandon Smith is one to look at if they alter the way they use Cameron Smith this year as well. Brandon racks up points quickly when he actually does get on the park, it was just that he’s been behind one of the best hookers in the business the past 2-3 seasons.

As pookus said, Levi is one to watch, but I’m always wary of the knights as they don’t play their hookers for 80 minutes. Generally been a 45/35 or 60/20 minute split.

I’m going to go through my team at some point today so hopefully will post something up by around 5-6pm.

One thing I’ve noticed while quickly checking players available is that Mason Lino has also left the warriors, going to be interesting to see who the warriors name as the replacement for Johnson or whether they snap up someone off the market before the season starts.

I’ve gone pretty heavy on my forwards and look like running out of money so I’m going to have to do some thinking ahead of posting a team here later that will have enough cash cows but punch out enough points round 1.

do you know any cheap hookers ?

Is Wadye Egan a viable alternative to Mann ?
You are in Adelaide arn't you mate? I would check out 'Eden' in Kent town and highly recommend 'iKandy' in Findon.

Haha I can't believe I am at home Googling Adelaide brothels in order to layer my joke with more realistic context. What have I become? :ROFLMAO:

Word is that Coach Cleary wants an 80 minute hooker at the Panthers, and it will be down to Egan or Sione Katoa. I suspect the 80 mins is the long term plan and he will at least carry the other on bench to start the year. If Egan gets the starting role, he could still be worthwhile value even if he plays 60 minutes because he is so cheap. If Katoa starts with Egan on the bench I would look elsewhere.

wow never knew that thought of thing existed in quiet old Adelaide Town , all these years and I have been going horse racing in Hindley Street

the things you learn when playing NRL

I may need to just pay top dollar for my hookers then and get premium service , not much point getting a hooker that doesn't last 60 minutes.

Haha you totally beat me to this joke. Taking too long to research prostitutes has been my downfall yet again!

As you mentioned, ET is an absolute tacklebot. He tackle everything with a pulse but that is pretty much all he can do. And this can be good for fantasy, but I really think he needs the 80 minutes to do it, and he probably needs to be at lock forward as well. At that price if I could be guaranteed he held that position (which he has in years past) he would be straight in my team, but word around Tigers camp is that Madge wants a bigger body in the 13 jersey (And watch out for Twal who would make a great pick if he gets the nod). Even if ET starts at lock I would be very surprised if he got the 80 minutes he needs. With fewer interchanges, the game is changing and we see very few men play that long in the middle anymore. Usually you want a big body going hard for 60 rather than an athletic tacklebot like ET going 80. The only Lock forwards who still play 80 minutes are Jake Trbojevic and occassionally Nathan Brown.

Word is that it will be Keighran taking it slightly nudging out Harris-Tavita.
But whoever gets that spot will be a good pick, you dont want to miss out on the chance of a bottom dollar cash cow as a run on half.
Both that player and Dylan Brown from the Eels should be in just about every team

I suspect you are a XXXX or Bundy man , but is Drinkwater viable points and $$$ option , or just stick with Turbo & Teddy ?
He is in competition with Hughes for the fullback spot at the Storm. I suspect Hughes will get it.
Drinkwater has only played one game, but if he gets the nod over Hughes he will be in my team. His stats in lower grades are absolutely incredible. He cost $583k in NRL Fantasy because of their different pricing rules to SC (they take it from his points in his one game), and even at that price I will probably run with him. In Supercoach he would be a no brainer.

PS- Nailed it with the Bundy Rum, but though I do enjoy a XXXX on a hot day my taste often wanders to expensive German beer, for I am a fancy man! :p

Never thought of fancy and Pookus in the same sentence

mmmm German beer , Oktoberfest , fraulines , Pookus in Lederhosen (good grief) , hunchen , schnapps

oh the memories

German or Dutch beer , although I did also enjoy a Kroneburg 1664

I better pay close attention then to these starting lineups , Drinkwater would be nice

I try not to advertise how white collar I am, lest all the other NRL fans find out and come at me with torches and pitchforks :p
I really should be following the AFL instead, just another one of those "fans" who goes to every game to drink and socialize and not watch the game.

Alas, I didn't have the gall to wear the Lederhosen at Oktoberfests. And I have legitimately always regretted that fact, heavily considering another trip just to rectify this. I am a huge sucker for a frauline in a dirndl though. I spend plenty of time in the Netherlands too so I would never turn down a Heineken, but that's cheating at beer- it's about as meaningful as someone saying they like chocolate!

I think they were charging $ 800 AUD for the Lederhosen and Steins were $4 , so when you were there for a week it was a easy choice to meet.

Can't believe they had little cans of Heineken in the beer vending machines for a $1 I think , and I always thought Heineken was a luxury beer.

So many drunken nights trying to steal vending machines

Yeah but I bet the beer taste better when you are wearing the lederhosen, just a hunch.

On the NRLSC front- not quite a cheap hooker, but a mid-ranger who might be worth a shout is Mahoney. If he gets the Eels gig and there is no backup on the bench he could be a steal at 374k
