Yeah but I bet the beer taste better when you are wearing the lederhosen, just a hunch.

On the NRLSC front- not quite a cheap hooker, but a mid-ranger who might be worth a shout is Mahoney. If he gets the Eels gig and there is no backup on the bench he could be a steal at 374k
Cheers , I might do some more reading and researching and pretend to myself I can unravel the mysteries of NRL SC hahaha

From my dabbling in AFLSC so far, I actually think it makes NRLSC look pretty easy.

1. Find which forwards play big minutes and like to tackle
2. Find which backs rack up the attacking plays
3. Congratulations, you have solved NRL Supercoach.

AFL SC just has so much more intricacies to why a pick could be a good or bad one.

Well well well kents. Look what we have here - another supercoach comp that i’ll probably dominate #goat. I can hear you all furiously clicking your mouses as you race to make the trades to replicate this sexy team.

I’ve put the cookie cut out where it belongs - in the fkn kitchen utensil draw kents. Notable omissions from my side being Teddy, Fatfita, Ponga, Widdop, Cook etc.

Smith picks himself. Egan as my back up only if selected as Penrith’s starting hooker.

Taupau an automatic selection. Burgess in at front row. Went backwards last year but will thrive this year being moved out to an edge playing off Reynolds. Has great base stats already but expecting his attacking stats to dramatically improve now that he’s on an edge. Paulo as a POD. Change of clubs will do him a world of good. Banking on him to recapture his form from the start of last year. He becomes Twal if he is named as a starter for the tigers.

Pretty generic starting second row so no need to delve into that. Have loaded up the bench with absolute guns. Gillet is an absolute steal at 430K.

Moving onto my POD halves that gives a rush of blood to my nether regions whenever I look at it :devilish:
Taylor is in for a huge year. Has trained the house down shedding 6kg’s this off season. I expect titans to be big improvers this year and that’ll be off the back of a Taylor masterclass. Moses likewise. He is far better suited playing in a side where he steers the ship. Is an absolute bargain and fully expect this year to be a career best. Could potentially push for an origin spot as we know Freddy loves him from his time coaching Lebanon.

Gone with the Marsters + rookies combo’s for wings/centres. Marsters scores exceptionally well last season considering he scored bugger all tries. Centre/wing is the most volatile position in SC however you can put your house on Marsters being the top pick come seasons end.

Moylan at fullback which is his rightful position. My memories of him at the back for Penrith are what has forced me to pick him. Will hugely benefit him if Shaun Johnson is moved on from cronulla before the start of the season too.

Will change umpteen times in the next 3 weeks, but this is the first draft.

Cook, (Granville)
Taupau, S.Burgess, (Napa, Kerr)
J.Trbojevic, Arrow, Hess, (B.Smith, Carrigan, Magoulias)
Cleary (D.Brown)
Keighran, (Flanagan)
Nofoaluma, Marsters, Addo-Carr, Aubusson (Lomax, Milne, Xerri)
Tedesco (French)

I’m sure the cheapies will change from now and the last team I trot out. Will need some more information from the next two weeks of trials and such before I make any more changes.

Looking forward to the first teamlist Tuesday in exactly 3 weeks!

French and Aubusson are the worst player's in SC downgrade them to Drinkwater and CNK. Granville will get his minutes taken by TMM/Clifford.

regarding S Drinkwater:

"Scott Drinkwater has been rewarded for a huge off-season with first crack at Billy Slater’s vacant Melbourne Storm fullback jersey. Drinkwater will start at No.1 in the Storm’s first pre-season trial against the Warriors in Geelong on Friday night, beating off challenges from Jahrome Hughes and Ryan Papenhuyzen. The 21-year-old got a taste of NRL action late last year and decided he would go all-out to replace the retired superstar. “I’ve had a few pre-seasons down here and the majority I’ve just been learning but this pre-season I’ve seen a big spot vacant and I made it a goal of mine to do as best I can to get the No.1 jersey for round one,” Drinkwater said. The former Australian schoolboys representative has spent most of his young career in the halves but switched to fullback last season in the Storm’s feeder team in the Queensland Cup. Drinkwater said he felt it was an ideal fit, and he was the Storm’s best player as he filled in for Slater in that round 25 loss to Penrith, even scoring a try. “I’m enjoying fullback - it’s new and exciting and the best thing about it is that I can roam both sides of the field,” said Drinkwater, whose older brother Josh is a halfback with Super League club Hull Kingston Rovers. “I’m not stuck on one side like a normal half these days.”"

Granville was more of a placeholder rather than a serious pick. Will be using his cash more wisely when teamlists come about.

Not touching Drinkwater unless he is named fullback for round 1 with Jahrome Hughes on the wing or otherwise dropped.

Aubusson is one I seem to get sucked into every year. He seems more likely to play 2nd row exclusively this year with extra backline recruits for the roosters. If he’s named in the centres again, or coming off the bench I’ll just grab a ctw cheapie instead though.

French also more of a placeholder but one to watch with a new half for the Eels. Lack of Corey Norman could mean more or less involvement for French, who is seriously underpriced if he does see more ball.

Will have to look at where CNK fits in though, as he wasn’t one I’d considered yet having not paid too much attention to trials.

Thomas Flegler stars, Tevita Pangai Jr hurt, Jack Bird unscathed in Broncos trial v Wynnum-Manly

Update: Tevita Pangai Jr felt his hamstring “pop” as the Broncos suffered another engine room blow in Saturday night’s 26-12 trial win against Wynnum-Manly.
Pangai Jr was forced from Kougari Oval after only 18 minutes after suffering a recurrence to the chronic hamstring problem which has plagued his 54-game NRL career.
Pangai Jr’s injury overshadowed a barnstorming performance by teenage prop Thomas Flegler, who threw his hand up to replaced suspended rising star Payne Haas.
With Haas to miss the first four games of the NRL season, an injury to explosive lock Pangai Jr was the last thing new coach Anthony Seibold needed ahead of his first season at the helm of the Broncos.
Pangai Jr will undergo scans on Sunday, but the Tongan powerhouse admitted he faced a fight to be ready for the opening to the NRL season.
“I felt it pop,” Pangai Jr said.
“I’m pretty disappointed. I worked hard on my hamstrings all pre-season.
“I don’t know what to say. I’ll be all right, it’s early days and we’ve got a long season ahead.

“Hopefully I’m good for round one. Hopefully I can get back on the horse, get my preparation right and be right for round one against the Storm.
“We’ve got a lot of depth and the young boys played well. If I’m out for round one I’m pretty sure we can cover it.”
Flegler ran all over the Seagulls to bolt into favouritism to secure an NRL debut in the Broncos’ season opener against Melbourne on March 14.
The 19-year-old has been likened to Broncos legend Shane Webcke and his steaming carries against the Seagulls proved the comparisons are warranted.
With Haas suspended this week following an NRL integrity unit investigation, Seibold is on the lookout for a new bench prop.
A four-way tussle is underway including rookies Flegler and Pat Carrigan, veteran Shaun Fensom and Patrick Mago.
Fensom was reliable in his Broncos debut, Mago did little wrong and Carrigan was impressive from the bench, but it was Flegler that caught the eye.
At 190cm and 108kg, Flegler is an imposing specimen and showed a full arsenal of weapons with line-busting carries, offloads and crunching defence.
He scored Brisbane’s first try in the fourth minute with a determined carry close to the line and returned in the second half with another solid stint.
While Flegler’s performance gave Seibold food for thought, the new Broncos coach would have been relieved to see Jack Bird emerge from the trial unscathed.
It was the former NSW Origin star’s first game in 288 days after his debut season at Red Hill was crippled by shoulder and sternum injuries.
Bird, 23, only managed eight underwhelming appearances for the Broncos last season before succumbing to a painful chest injury which required surgery.
On a contract worth about $800,000 this season, a flying Bird is crucial to Brisbane’s NRL premiership campaign because he is being paid too much to not be an influential player.
Bird played the opening 30 minutes of the trial and warmed into the contest after a quiet start.
While his attacking opportunities were limited, Bird was aggressive in defence, something he was unable to do last year due to his injury struggles.
The Intrust Super Cup’s Seagulls seemed stunned initially but lifted to give the Broncos a quality hit-out ahead of their final trial against the Gold Coast Titans on Saturday.
Roosters recruit Sean O’Sullivan produced a polished left-foot kicking game in his first match in Broncos colours at five-eighth and combined well with teenage halfback Tom Dearden.
The Broncos’ reserve playmakers Tanah Boyd and Cory Paix were also impressive from the bench.
Broncos forward Jaydn Su’A had a short hit-out in his return from a broken ankle while Richie Kennar, Kotoni Staggs, David Fifita and Paix scored for Brisbane.
FIVE THINGS WE LEARNED FROM BRONCOS v WYNNUM-MANLY
1. Another rookie puts his hand up

Payne Haas may be suspended but the Broncos have another exciting front row prospect in Thomas Flegler. Flegler scored a try, skittled his opponents and was crunching in defence to bolt into favouritism for a Round 1 NRL debut.
2. Promising signs from Bird
Jack Bird could get back to his best in 2019. The Broncos centre looked sharp with opportunities in his first game in 288 days after finally overcoming a raft of injuries. The Broncos need Bird firing this year.
3. Refereeing history made
There was a slice of history made at Kougari Oval last night as referee Belinda Sleeman took control in the middle. Sleeman became the first woman to referee a match including an NRL team and while it was on a trial she has taken a step towards blowing the whistle in a first grade fixture.
4. Broncos’ plethora of playmakers
Broncos coach Anthony Seibold is spoilt for choice with young playmakers. While Kodi Nikorima and Anthony Milford were rested, the Broncos’ other four playmakers presented their claims. Sean O’Sullivan, Tom Dearden, Cory Paix and Tanah Boyd all showed glimpses of brilliance.
5. Keep an eye out for Fifita
5. Young Broncos forward David Fifita is on track to have a remarkable NRL season. Fifita scored a try with blistering pace for a man of his size and is still only 18.

With a week and a bit to go before RD1 I thought I'd post my updated team and I'd greatly appreciate some feedback from @Pookus McFly or others that have played NRL SC before.

Current team:
HK: C Smith, (K Holland)
FR: A Fifita, M Taupau, (S Burgess, J Kerr)
2RF: J Trbojevic, J Arrow, C Murray, (J Stimson, P Carrigan, B Nikora)
HFB: N Cleary, (A Keighran)
5/8: M Morgan, (D Brown)
CTW: E Marsters, C Gutherson, J Bateman, C Nicoll-Clokstad, (Z Lomax, R Garrick, B Xerri)
FB: M Moylan, (C Allan)

Remaining salary: 16,000

My playing 17 will involve the 13 on field as well as K Holland, S Burgess, J Stimson and one of the rookie priced players eg-Z Lomax, C Allan, etc.

The majority of the team is locked in but I'm strongly considering replacing the 2 Storm players (C Smith and J Stimson) with J Friend and A Tolman.

Xerri doesn’t look like he’ll start round one yet despite a lot of people hoping he will (myself included). Make sure you watch the teamlists when they come out so you know whether to include him or not.

A few cheapies for those who haven’t been looking too much into it:

Jacob Host looks a decent starting prospect after de Belin’s recent disciplinary issues. He’s pretty cheap and available in both 2rf and Frf. Output of points doesn’t look overly high, but it’s hard to do a lot when you get limited minutes (stats from 2018).

Luke Garner also potentially picks up the spot Chris Lawrence has left vacant after his jaw injury. He’s a touch more expensive but should make some bank for us assuming he starts as his output seems a little better.

Another is Royce Hunt who plays for Canberra. He’s potentially picking up a starting spot in the front row so that would also make life easier. Also DPP so that will be handy for those looking to fill either 2rf or Frf.

EDIT: For those that are interested in points per minute from last year, you can calculate it by looking at the players summary + use the below website which has the minutes played for every player for each round last season. I stumbled upon it today when I was trying to figure out some of the players who were touch and go.

Generally Tuesdays. The first round of the year it may be Monday, possibly Sunday if we're lucky.

It looks alright. Hard to pick it apart too much given we don't know exact round 1 teams yet. Cam Smith is a safe pick, but I'm more inclined to avoid him should his minutes be reduced. If the Storm are going gangbusters against any team, he generally comes off the park to avoid injury. Holland is a really good pick, as his end to last season was huge. Once he was playing 80 minutes he averaged over 60 his last 10 games. Great mid-priced player for either hooker or CTW.

Taupau and Fifita are safe picks, their input will vary week to week depending on how many attacking stats they can get. When both are on top of their game, it's fun to see the points roll in. Sam Burgess is a tough one as I've always liked him, but he has a tendency to give away a lot of penalties which hurts his score.

Trbojevic is always a good pick, big motor and on the end of attacking plays here and there. Arrow is a frustrating one (lots of injury worries last season), but he has a high ceiling so risk vs reward there. Cam Murray should see plenty more minutes this season with no Crichton you would think, but you never know with Souths' pack. Would avoid Stimson and Carrigan, better cheapies/mid price players out there.

Cleary not too bad a pick, but I'm opting for Johnson over him at this point, simply because the defence of the Sharks is better than the Panthers, which means less missed tackles for Johnson (in theory).

Morgan's a tough one, as I don't know how much more he will be involved with Thurston gone. He is a very good attacking player, but I don't know if he'll do the bulk of the kicking or leave it to the other half/hooker. A risky pick in my eyes.

Masters and Gutherson solid picks. If Bateman doesn't start, it's a bit risky putting him in over other solid CTW options.

Moylan looks like he's ready for a big year, and with Johnson there, they could link up a lot. I'm probably going to take the punt on him as well.
