I understand why people have been jumping off Grundy (I did too) but I’ve been surprised at how popular Gawn has become, including from those who have Grundy (so Gawn isn’t just being brought in as the best Grundy replacement from a thin bunch).

My understanding is that Preuss is listed as a test for this week, so it’s not exactly an LTI that takes him out of the picture.
I’ve selected him but am expecting he may get rested in a few (easier) games with Preuss a capable substitute.

What do we do with Clarke? Currently on my bench and obviously not playing. Do I keep and hope he plays in the next week or so? Or do I offload and bring in a Bines?
Currently do not have a R/F in fwd line though so Bines would just warm the bench like Clarke.

I don't think we will see Clarke until either Bellchambers or McKernan injure themselves, or need a rest; or if McKernan does nothing for the first couple of weeks.

Even if McKernan played bad a few weeks in a row, might not Stewart be just as likely to come in as Clarke?
Not seen Stewart for some time. Is he injured or just way back in pecking order now?

Hurt his groin a few days ago putting him out of action for a few weeks.

He has fallen down the pecking order, and he is a bit of a confidence player in my opinion. Will need a couple of very good weeks in the VFL to put his name into contention again, and hopefully by the time that happens Daniher will be back up and running by then.

Brilliant ruckman Max Gawn played one of his poorest games in recent memory, being worked over by Port's duo of Paddy Ryder and Scott Lycett, while also copping plenty of physical attention.

Goodwin indicated he would look at bringing recruit Braydon Preuss into the side.

"It's something that we're used to. ‘Gawny’ gets targeted most weeks. Max will continue to get better," Goodwin said.

"He probably didn't play his best game today. We'll look to how we potentially support him better. We'll continually look at that as a match committee.

Can anyone quickly find or point me in the direction of the stoppage numbers for rd1? To compare against 2018 avg.

Thanks in advance..

Geez annoying for Gawn owners.

Have a bad feeling I should be a lot more concerned as a Gawn owner than a Grundy owner right now.

As bad as this sounds for those with Gawn in their team (me included), having been at the game on Saturday, I must admit I totally agree.

To me it seems the physical targeting of Gawn was the main contrbuting factor for his poor game, plus the fact it was a very hot day.

Given the hot day and the fact that Pt Adelaide played 2 rucks, I personally think Gawn needs the support too for the benefit of the team.

There aren't many sides that play 2 genuine rucks. Port & Eagles being the only 2 that spring to mind.

Dees looked slow as anything on the weekend and I don't think bringing in a 120 odd kilogram Preuss will go a long way towards fixing that.

At this stage I'm more concerned about Grundy, looked like the 2016 version of himself on Friday. He's got 1 more week to prove himself, another 80 odd score would see him bleed about 7 million dollars on the first price change which I just can't stomach this early in the year.

It's not inconceivable that there could be a 300k swing between him and the highest averaging premium or best performing mid priced ruck over the first 6 weeks, more than justifying the 2 trades used to move him out and back in if he looks to turn the corner at a later date.

I hope he bangs out 110 this week and saves the 80 for R3 ;)
There's gotta be some sick reward for having to watch Tim English every week and seeing Grundy drop 100k might be it.

In the absence of a good mid-price bolter I think this is just too risky. Phillips is the only one that fits the bill right now and he probably gets dropped when Kreuzer is fit.

I got Pierce and goldy in

If you told me pierce would have got with 50 points of Grundy / gawn, I'd taken it every day of the week

Well, McKermam did nothing and Belly is injury prone, hold...Wish I had of had the money for him on my bench, he will be a juicy advantage when he starts earning.

As a Gawn and Oliver owner I’m happy to see this. Assuming Gawn’s contest get back to 2018 levels then both he and Oliver will improve.
