Started planning some of my future trades and the affordability and thanks to the performances on the weekend this will likely be my upcoming trades bar this round.

Out:
M Sivo
C Waddell
P Haas
C Harris-Tavita
J Okunbor

In:
V Kikau (via B Nikora)
J Taumalolo
S Burgess
T Dearden
B Ferguson

With Sivo's low breakeven he should be able to reach 500,000 which should mean anywhere from a 50,000 to 100,000 difference between he and Kikau.

The difference between Taumalolo and Waddell should be approximately 100,000 dependent on their upcoming performance as a very large or very low score might seriously hamper the possibility.

P Hass to S Burgess should roughly be in the vicinity of 100,000 to 150,0000.

CHT to Dearden will free up roughly 160,000 to 180,000.

J Okunbor to B Ferguson should cost roughly 100,000 to 150,000.

Therefore 50,000+100,000+150,000+150,000= 450,000 potentially worst case.
Subtract 180,00= 270,000.

Current remaining salary is 276,500 with the planned trade of B Smith to W Egan increasing that to 341,000. But I need to replace Friend and have sufficient cash for 1 of the following trio this week- R Farah, C Smith or D Cook.
R Farah=326,200 left
C Smith= 250,200 left
D Cook= 145,500 left

Xerri and Allan are the other non keepers who with the trade of 1 should comfortably allow all of the following trades on each of the hooker options.

Therefore I'd greatly appreciate some advice on which hooker to replace Friend.
A. R Farah- elevated price in comparison to next week but cheapest of the trio and leftover money could be used down the track to turn Egan into C Smith/D Cook or C Allan to T Turbo.

B. C Smith- Should be sufficient funds to execute future trade plans without trading Xerri/Allan and can be paired later on with D Cook/R Farah.

C. D Cook- most expensive but highest ceiling and means potentially forgoing selecting him later and cheaper but could play RD12 dependent on Origin duties.

Score: 1,207
Round Rank: 2,478
Season Rank: 17,753

No idea what I’m doing, but whatever it is, it is working much better than my AFL SC side. I think the key is no emotional baggage!

Team below. Do I need to trade this week or conserve some trades?

An option could be Garner to Waddell due to his low breakeven and a score greater than 42 in both matches in the next fortnight should see him rise 100,000. This only frees up 20,000 increasing your remaining salary to approximately 60,000 which could allow Aubusson to be traded to W Blake or B Cartwright (via B Nikora)/etc this week or even downgrade Aubo to P Herbert from NZW freeing 230,000 which next week could be used to trade CHT to Dearden thus increasing that to 390,000+ possibly allowing A Keighran to be traded to K Ponga.

Struggling for trades this round so any advice would be appreciated. Was pretty keen on CHN because of his BE and he plays round 12, but I feel like my CTW doesn't need any extra work at this stage. Thinking of downgrading Capewell to Lomax for now.

An option could be K Capewell to C Waddell (via J Okunbor) freeing up approximately 165,000 increasing your remaining salary to 260,000. This could be used to trade Okunbor, Burr, etc to the likes of Taumalolo, Burgess, Kikau and Ferguson or you could continue saving and trade CHT to Dearden in the coming rounds possibly allowing D Brown to T Trbojevic via K Ponga once he returns from injury.

@KLo30 and @7/11 would greatly appreciate advice on Friend's replacement between C Smith and D Cook. I'm currently leaning towards C Smith.

100% Smith. When origin is done you can grab Cook as well. I mainly brought Cook in a few weeks back because his price had dipped and it paid off. Might be a bit of a risk with origin looming though.

Unfortunately Fainu hasn’t received the role I was hoping for so I’ve opted out of that trade. Just going to go garner to Waddell this week for the cash grab.

Half tempted to upgrade Morgan but there’s no option that screams pick me at the moment.

Thanks. Grabbing Egan as well this round and hopefully post Origin can turn him into Cook/Farah. C Smith was extremely unlucky not to receive a starting spot in my side as Friend just pipped him for it but great to finally have a Storm player now and one of the only current players I was aware of before starting this competition.

Up to 4185 and still don't know much. Thinking maybe Capewell to Waddel but would appreciate any advice.
Capewell to Waddell this week could possibly allow 2 upgrades next week of
Out: B Smith, T Kamikamica
In: R Farah, B Ferguson
But this is heavily dependant on the rookies outscoring their break-evens whilst the premiums scoring sub 60's which might not eventuate but should still allow you to grab the one you prefer.

Or you could downgrade B Smith to W Egan this week as well pushing your remaining salary then to 440,000 which could be used in the coming rounds to trade Kamikamica, Waddel/Xerri/Okunbor to 2 or more of B Ferguson/J Taumalolo/S Burgess/etc.

Is Waddell really that great? yes he's had some good scores but he is still a bench forward who has seen a lot of attacking stats recently. I'm also concerned that unless he gets a starting role or somehow continues to get these kinds of attacking stats every week, he's probably only going to see a small increase in money by the end of round 12 which is when you'd be looking to sell him. Would like to know if anyone disagrees with this though.

I was lucky to grab him last week but the main reason I've been recommending him is that he only needs to score above 40 in both games in the next fortnight to rise 100,000+. This allows coaches to get rid of a poor cash generator at a similar price or downgrade a Capewell etc to upgrade another position.

If he continues this form then he could be held for RD12 otherwise once Taumalolo plays 2 games I'll look to offload C Waddell to him hopefully for a difference of 50,000 to 150,000.

I think you've done well if you already have him in your team, I'm more asking is it worth grabbing him at this point and then having to run the risk of using 2 trades before round 12 to cash in before he drops again.

I'm new to the format but this year's bunch of rookies seems to be performing very well and being extremely beneficial to cash generation and affording the top end premiums. I'm not sure of the prevalence of injuries/rests/ suspensions that occur to some of the key players but apart from constantly trading premiums/midpricers during/after origin it's difficult to see how to improve our teams in the latter half of the season. As most of us are newcomers we are implementing different strategies that we are not accustom to in other formats as well as less interest/treating this more as a fun format in comparison to the others then it's a bit more enjoyable executing these types of moves in the hopes they can pay off (eg grabbing a Taumalolo for only 100,000 difference).

It's dependent on your current structure/selections but I think his selection could be pivotal in enhancing your 17 if the intention is to turn him into a premium. If you're content with your 17 and others then it might not be necessary.

Yeah the only reason I'm putting so much emphasis on trades is because in previous seasons its gotten to the last couple of weeks and we have run out of trades and then all of a sudden injuries occur to key players in most people's sides. But yes I do agree that there seems to be a lot of rookies doing well which means you have decent cover if this scenario were to happen, so trades are maybe not so important this season compared to others, but even if that's the case it's still very scary getting to that point of the season with no trades left and something to be mindful of when you are making your trades during the season.
