225 minimum

Bairstow or Roy first over or 2 (or both)

game on
From here, they should be looking at another 25 minimum. 2 boundaries in the last 3 overs and a run a ball the rest of the deliveries gets us 24 minimum.

EDIT: Buttler the Guptill of this match, serious throw that.

EDIT 2: Surprised Lyon wasn't sent out over Behrendorff, he's good at hitting the ball to weird parts of the field.

EDIT 3: Doesn't matter anyway, Lyon in without Behrendorff facing a ball..

Extremely disappointing innings and well below par. Apart from the new ball period, it didn’t look too difficult to bat out there. Can only hope England don’t shy away from their game plan and go hard early, giving us opportunities for wickets. If they play it smart and see out the new ball, they win. They could be 1-15 from 10 and they’d be on their way to Lords.

It's definitely not as tough a wicket as Manchester, but I think there's enough in this pitch to exploit. Whilst new ball wickets from Starc and Behrendorff will be vital, we need Cummins and Lyon to pick up 3-4 wickets between them to win it.

Also 10 more runs on the board than the infamous tie 20 years ago, can we see some headless running again from the old foe?

Was curious to see Starc's ODI record with the stick as he can hit them alright and was really surprised to see he only has 1 score over 30 and that was a 52* six years ago. Only has 4 scores over 20 as well which is astounding.
Yes, he's poor as an ODI batsman. He should be able to do much better.

10 good balls will do it (or some bad shots or luck)

2-3 in the 1st PowerPlay

Not much movement in the air for Starc that first over. Bit of a worrying sign of things to come. Hopefully they find a way to dismiss Bairstow, he's the key to England's innings.

Barely any movement for our bowlers. Their openers doing the smart and percentage play by seeing out the new ball. Will give it a couple more overs and then I’m calling it and heading to bed. Should be a relatively easy chase for the UN.

Thank **** I no longer live over there, as it’s unbearable enough copping this loss living back home. Seems like just over a week ago when England were on the ropes looking like being kicked out of the group stage. Now they’re in pole position to win it all. With us, the complete polar opposite.

Said yesterday that the toss might be a good one to lose and looks like it was the case. The idea of batting first was the right one at the time, but with the beauty of hindsight we saw moisture in the pitch early on with the ball seaming all over the shop. It then dried up significantly and we had no such luck having those conditions when we attempted to defend our modest total.

If I had to pick one out of the Ashes or the World Cup for us to win, I’d pick the Ashes, so hopefully the English have a bit of a hangover when they pull on the whites.

Seriously reckon the likes of Maxwell and Stoinis have played their last games for Australia. There is absolutely no point in giving them games anymore as we may as well look forward and begin the next World Cup cycle immediately. And on that note, it’s time for Australia to **** off the fast bowling allrounder dream that they’ve been trying pull off ever since Freddie flintoff terrorised us. Stop playing one for the sake of it *** when they’re quite clearly not up to standard. Play a specialist bat or bowler, not a bloke who is a fkn shambles at both.

Turn our attention to the Ashes now. Absolutely can’t wait, we’re in for a ripper of a series. Here’s the squad I go with for the tour:

Warner
Burns
Khawaja
Smith
Head
Patterson
Paine
Pattinson
Cummins
Hazlewood
Lyon

Starc
Richardson (siddle If richo isn’t fit)
Holland
Patterson
Wade
