After my 2 trades this week of Logue/Answerth - Whitfield/Birchall i guess i can post in this thread

Just 2 trades and 55k left

DEF - Lloyd, Hurn. Z.Williams, Stewart, Laird (Birchall, Naish)
MIDS - Neale, Macrae, Fyfe, Cripps, Bontempelli, Oliver, Merrett, M.Crouch (D.Clarke, Hately, B.Scott)
RUCS - Grundy, Gawn (Schlensog)
FWDS - Dangerfield, Dunkley, Boak, T.Kelly, Lycett, Heeney (Setterfield, Chol)

Quite happy with where my team sits, especially with adequate bench cover to cover late outs and 1-2 week suspensions/injuries. Obvious omissions are Hurn and Marshall. Regretting taking Lycett over Marshall 2 weeks ago, hopefully his ruck cover comes in handy atleast once and saves a trade. Weaknesses are Heeney and Sic but not alone there and perhaps Merrett and M.Crouch instead of Sloane and Treloar or J.Kelly when he returns

Is Hurn in or out?

So I'm reasonably happy as this attempt of guns and rookies. I was 80% on target with my rookies which helped, a couple of stray trades along the way means I've got 1 left and $18k. My error of purchasing a more expensive Mundy over Boak is coming home most weeks. Should have a full premo onfield team come week 1 of finals... barring any mishaps this weekend (Rocky on Jelly obviously).

Great scoring ceiling for the onfielders, really potent (y)

Very nice side, well done.

Can I ask (1) whether you consciously used a more GnR approach this year (presumably after a more midpriced approach didn’t work for you) and (2) how you’re ranked?

Not Ideal with Birch at D6 and Dunks in mids, but it is what it is. 1 trade and 600 bucks left.

Thanks everyone, good luck for the finals.

Q2... ranked 1,251. Would be significantly better had I not done 3 or 4 things, ROB to soldo, mundy over boak, and started Wilkie over B McKay, selling Heeney. Mostly clear mistakes in hindsight, Heeney TBC.

Q1.Yes, normally I'm a 6ish mid priced type starting around 17 non rookies. This year I started a lot less, 14, with a focus on Guns and Rookies, but as you can see, old habbits die hard. I thought Rocky, Brouch and Libba were genuinely the best value mid pricers. Sold libba at peak, and then Brouch 2 weeks ago. I counted D. Moore as a rookie because he was under $250k. I sold Dusty and Heeney, probably didn't need to do the latter... I sold Goldy and brought ROB after his first price rise (I thought Grundy might have had a toe issue....bahahah, only toe issue he's had is tripping over SC points as he runs around). I missed Williams (thought the 3 selected mid pricers would be better, looked that way early)...se la vie.

Two trades to do this week and for better or worse my team is 'done'...

B: Lloyd, Williams, Stewart, Rich, Ryan, Smith, (Answerth, Gardner)
M: Macrae, Fyfe, Neale, Oliver, Cripps, Duncan, Zerrett, (Clarke, Hill, Hind)
R: Grundy, Gawn, (ROB)
F: Danger, Heeney, Kelly, Zieball, Cameron, Gunston, (Lewis, Young)

Backs are reasonable, missing Whitfield and Hurn (but so is he atm). Mids are ok, took me a while to complete though. Rucks are great! Fwds are meh, missing Dunkley, Boak, Marshall :(

Cover on all the lines, $4k in the bank and 3 trades left.

Finally Completed (ish)

Def: Lloyd, Williams, Whitfield, Hurn, Laird, Sicily (Quaynor, Gardner)

Ruck: Grundy, Gawn (Bines)
Forward: Danger, Marshall, Boak, Billings, Telly, J.Cameron (Setters, R.Young)

7K cash & 4 trades left. Wish I got Dunkley instead of J.Cameron

Great colour, thanks ... I will likely do something similar next year. Logically I think the arguments for a selection of mid pricers are very solid, but I might try to limit it to 1 or 2 with low downside (more the Williams type) and potentially sideways to any bolters I kiss ahead of round three. Might be easier than guessing which ones will be must haves in advance.

Nice work on your ranking, hopefully it keeps improving.

I remember the quote someone on here said, 'I don't like the 3 mid-pricers, I think you'll end up holding them longer than you expect'. Came kinda true. I kind of hoped I would though and Brouch and Rocky would be $550k+ alas two weeks ago neither had reached said level and it was time to start saying goodbye $100 + Brouch > Treloar. Moral being I'm not even sure 14 is the right number. It might even be 13. I was 14 plus Walsh and Moore as expensive rookies. I think starting Sloane or Merrett over Dusty would have been a win (both, trades and points), but I really think that dialing it down to 13 would allow a bit more best of the best... e.g. Libba out, Goldy>Grundy or Dusty>Neale... Yep, 0, 1 or 2 mid pricers is probably right. 3 was probably a bridge to far. Couldn't have known Marshall would go 110, so yeah, maybe one or two 'obvious' ones like Williams. But I'll be starting from a position of none until I run out of money :)

Final team for now. Potentially may strengthen mids depending on trades used for other injuries. Hoping I can push Robbie Gray off field.

B: Whitfield, Lloyd, Hurn, Williams, Ryan, Sicily, (Logue, Gardner)
M: Macrae, Fyfe, Neale, Oliver, Cripps, JKelly, MCrouch, R Gray, (Clarke, I.Hill, KDunkley)
R: Grundy, Gawn, (Bines)
F: Danger, TKelly, Marshall, Boak, Dunkley, Heeney (Chol, Young)

That forward line is a thing of beauty! Solid team, with trades in hand by the sounds. Great work.

That's a fine specimen of a team, esp with COGs out. It would have taken a big pair rnd 3 to go Worpel > Marshall and bank $60k...
