Hey all.

With the NBA season only a few weeks away, I was looking at creating a cash league for an NBA fantasy draft. I remember a few here being keen on the NBA so thought I'd try garner some interest. For those who aren't familiar with draft, I highly recommend it and I personally find it a lot more enjoyable than the Dreamteam format.

I was hoping to create a 10-man league minimum to ensure a solid cash pool and greater depth of players to choose from. I can get to the specifics later on but I just thought I'd put the feelers out to see if I could find enough people who would be interested. I was thinking of around a $30 entry minimum but can determine that with those interested. It will also be a head2head points league.

So let me know if you're interested and if we can get 10 people, we will organise the specifics of the draft. Thanks.

Never done a draft league before but am willing to give it a go so you can probably count me in depending on the site used ...

Hey mate. I use ESPN Fantasy as the app is really convenient and easy to follow. Couldn’t imagine you’d have many problems with it. Can also do mock drafts through it which can help give you an idea of how you may draft from different positions.

I will be tracking scores in RDT and doubt I would also do so in ESPN ... but would still probably play anyway if we had the numbers because I do know the scoring differences .... just a different strategy to be employed ....

I personally have no trouble alternating between the two apps/sites. It’s probably even easier to do a draft league on a different platform so you can keep your RDT logged in on Sports Deck. Like I said, the app is easy to use and your scores will be there as soon as you open the app.
The draft league is also customised scoring. I keep it the same as RDT except players don’t lose points for missed field goals and they get 5 points for double-doubles and an extra 10 points for a triple-doubles.
So you don’t have to worry about field-goal percentage and instead might target players that are more likely to get DDs or TDs.
The strategy in draft is completely different to RDT as you might want to target strong players in certain positions and have to consider what players other people will take. It’s also nice being the only person to have your players and makes the competition more fun in my opinion.

Yep .. knew about the DD, TD and non points deducted for missed shots considerations ... total different pool of players to consider ... but I'll give it a go as I sort of have a pretty good idea of what players I'd be targeting ... would probably just be a learning curve donation though :)

The app has mock drafts so you can get plenty of practice in. By no means would it be a donation, if you know your players then you will be fine. The site’s rankings give you enough of a guide anyway so even an auto-picked team would be competitive. It even gives stat projections for each player, which you wouldn’t find on RDT, which is another good feature. But don’t feel obliged to participate as I understand it’s not too responsible to throw away $30 haha.

But that being said, we’ll need about 6 or 7 people on here to fill a league (I have a couple friends who can join if we can’t get 10).
So if there’s anyone you know on here who might be interested, feel free to spread the word!

Not interested in "mock drafts" etc as I see a changing of scenarios this year with all the player movements coupled with the amount of games the "prems" want to play .... 60 v 80 games before play o*** as I believe Leonard and Embiid sort of set a new precedence. ~60+ games for proven "Prems" and 70+ for next next set of wannabes ...depending on team depth ....

Edit: just count me in and let me know the draft details once sorted ...

Yes, I agree. The race is a lot more open this year so many stars will be looking to rest up late in the season to prepare for playo***. Definitely something to consider when drafting.

And just to clarify, by mock drafts I mean that it’s a simulator that you enter and can practise drafting against other people and computers. So it’s actually practising doing the draft that you’d do for the league and you can draft according to whatever scenarios you envisage happening. I recommend you download the app and try it. It’s good fun.

And thanks for showing interest! Hopefully 5 or so others on here are keen and we can put a league together.
