For even the biggest Heeney tragic in me, there was some comments at the end of that article that have me looking elsewhere as well now

Heeney, who finished 5th in last year’s best and fairest after finishing 4th in 2018, expects to play predominantly as a forward in 2020, after playing all over the ground in 2019 where he averaged 20 disposals and kicked 26 goals from 22 appearances.
“(I will) probably a little bit more forward this year,” he said.
“Last year was a bit of a mix, I was thrown everywhere.
I grew up as a midfielder and still believe I’ve got a bit to offer in the midfield, but at the moment we’ve got a decent midfield who are working really well together. The better they go the more opportunity I’ll have down forward.

“I love kicking goals – it is pretty hard to not love kicking goals. I’ll play my heart out wherever Horse wants to play me. It is hard to pick where I like playing more, forward and midfield.”
RE: …….but at the moment we’ve got a decent midfield who are working really well together. The better they go the more opportunity I’ll have down forward...…….

It's hard to make a case for Heeney if he says himself that he will play more forward. He doesn't say how much more then in the midfield.

I wasn't impressed with Sydney's midfield last season. Kennedy is probably their best midfielder, 32yo, and Parker does well there, but not much else. Lots of youngsters. I don't think SYD has worked out it's best midfield structure yet, still experimenting, so Heeney might play midfield more then he thinks. I think he could be a very good midfielder given a decent chance.

What I think is irrelevant, as I don't have inside info, but if the midfield is not functioning properly, then changes likely be made.
Because I am not sure, that's why Heeney is just 'For Consideration' with me at the moment.

Heeney is in better physical shape this year. Last year Heeney had knee surgery preseason, this year it's only his thumb. Fitness wise, he should be ok, but playing more forward is not good.

Isaac Heeney will undergo surgery and looks set to miss the Marsh Community Series after fracturing his thumb at training...…..Scans confirmed a fracture in his thumb," Swans football manager Charlie Gardiner said.
"Isaac is obviously disappointed but he should be back running in a matter of days and we're confident he will be available for the start of the season."

and you can throw another youngster in rookie Dylan Stephens, outside mid who will play through the midfield. Not sure his productivity (SC) warrants his price, despite excellent reports on him and quality kick. Think he average 83 in NAB U18.

Stephens just turned 19yo, but played in the SANFL last year, which is encouraging. He is a highly regarded running machine and was the Swans top pick (No. 5 overall) at the draft. I expect he will get play games this year.

It's the lack of strong bodies in the midfield that is a problem with SYD. SYD are now the second youngest list and 2 of their best players (Franklin and Kennedy) are over 30yo. Kennedy needs help in the middle and if the young players are not up to it, then I can see SYD trying other more experienced players in there.

The Dockers said Sean Darcy would not be sent for scans but would be monitored, appearing confident the important big man would not be sidelined with a serious injury.

Darcy, who has played 26 games in three seasons, is set to take the No.1 ruck mantle from Aaron Sandilands this season, allowing Rory Lobb to play extended periods as a marking forward.

Why would they not get scans? Are they too expensive?

Geelong midfielder Nakia Cockatoo has once again succumbed to injury.
The 23-year-old suffered a minor hamstring which has kept him out of full training, according to the Geelong Advertiser.
He reportedly felt it tighten up at training, with the Cats not taking any risks with the injury prone midfielder.

Cockatoo has not played since Round 3 of 2018 and has only managed 34 games since being taken at pick 10 in the 2014 National Draft.

Geelong has a growing list of injury concerns, with Joel Selwood, Mitch Duncan, Jack Steven, Tom Stewart, Jordan Clark and Jake Kolodjashnij among the players to have issues.
