McAsey seems to have better JS, think Guthrie could be the one to go out once Steven is available. Not expecting a lot from McAsey. Might be worth going Guthrie if the season gets suspended early, as he looks like the better scorer?
Steven is injured so probably not him that comes in. Zuthrie was selected over Parfitt which seems to be a contentious decision. Could be rectified early if Zuthrie has a quiet game.

sicily vs laird

pbviously been discussed before

but have a feeling the shorter games will help Sicily as he doesn't need as many possessions to score high

laird will be as consistent but may drop 5-10 points due to time

I’m thinking of cutting Fyfe for Bont to give me a bit of a cash buffer going into next week. Leaves me with Kelly at M1 and Oliver M5 but robs me of a Fyfe C if Grundy falls on his backside.
Did you end up with Bont....? Pretty disappointing start. I feel a bit sucked in as I was off Bont for most of the preseason. The postive was that he had a good SC/DT ratio but had a shocking game.

I think both will be benefitted from the shorter games which seem to favour players which intercept more (at least early season anyway, may change later). I'd take Sicily here as I think he's slightly underpriced. FWIW I have both.

Thanks. Couldn't remember whose spot he had taken in the team, but point still stands his JS may not be great.

Sicily was one of my first selected initially. He did drop out for a while, then remembered why I liked him - underpriced and one of the best at taking intercepts in the comp.

Laird is also a good choice, but prefer Sicily out of the two. Would have liked to squeeze both in with my team reshuffle after last night's match, but could only fit one - went for Sicily.

Whitfield + Jacobs VS Brayshaw + NicNat

I originally picked Whitfield (for obvious reasons) and Jacobs as a value player.
I have always wanted to fit Brayshaw into my team and I can do that by downgrading Whitfield and Upgrading Jacobs.
Looking at the first two games, I think NicNat would be really suited to the shorter quarters. He is also a player who performs in bursts (like Grundy said in his post-match interview).

Not sure if I'm over-tinkering my team, but I would be effectively switching 1 Super Premo and midpricer for 2 midpricers.
My gut says yes, my brain says no.

Go with your brain. I ignore mine way too often which is why I am terrible at SC.

Bailey J Williams (D8) + Jelly v McAsey + Oliver?
The way intercept defenders have been scoring albeit 2 games McAsey sounds like the best option and could be a great option to jump to Doedee if he goes out for him and by then hopefully he has made that 90k difference.

Yeah I did end up with him, not an ideal start but he’s probably played his worst game for the season which is a bit of silver lining. I’m actually heavily debating the possibility of removing him next week for another defender. Will depend a lot on how Brander goes this week, if he looks playable I think I’ll pull the trigger.

These intercept players are going at ridiculous levels so far. Making me debate the Naismith pick too, flashbacks of Gawn sitting in the hole gobbling up errant kicks is making me very uncomfortable.

Good point re Gawn..... He does get a lot of intercept marks....

I think I will give the Bont one more game, unfortunately his price changes after the end of next round though.

We’re 2 games in and yet to see a monster score from 4 mids who regularly pumped them out last year. If we get through this round without any real big ones from the big mids, especially Fyfe against your boys, I think I’ll try and get ahead of the curve and have a bit of a reshuffle.

Good season to try these out of the box things after all.

Fyfe against the Bombers last year scored 2 x 101 so he might not be a good gauge if he doesn’t go huge.

The rucks were pretty poor game 1 last year too.............other years were have seen pre season momentum players start off well then fizzer.

Potentially we have seen two weak fwd sides cough up the ball to two of the best defences.

Midfielders scoring could be a factor of a faster pace, however, with 60 HO per game so far compared to a few sample games of 70 last year, it looks similar on stoppages.

re rucks, have we have seen any insights yet. Grundy was 10% ahead of his average for last three games against English of 162. Yes, English has grown size, however, Grundy dominated him both in HTA and looked ahead on possessions. If stoppages in line and we didn't see a spike in marks for rucks (best ruckman so far is English with 4), TOG in line, not sure what inferences we draw. Carlton game worse where Kruezer went down, so Soldo massive score vs TOG and Nankervis was terrible.

Maybe a chance that ruckman are taking possessions off mids, as all seemed to have high possession counts (English just off Bont!). Is the game intensity up, mids running above normal speeds and entry into 50 is poor helping defenders...........maybe, just not convinced yet.

Excellent point, though I’m unsure if he was tagged by Clarke in those games who doesn’t appear to have been selected.

Yeah it’s definitely not black and white yet. I feel like Cripps was underscored fairly heavily Friday and it’s hard to take much out of last nights game other than the ruck performance:scoring ratio seeming to be consistent with previous years.
