Our lives and world has been turned on its head with the COVID-19 pandemic, including our love of AFL SC fantasy. With that says, it's a very small sacrifice in the overall scheme of things. Hopefully these recent drastic, but necessary measures from our federal & state governments will help to put a halt to the alarming escalation of the spread of the virus.

Social communications will become increasingly important as the lockdown period continues and people are confined to their homes. SCS is an extension of that social communication network for you to continue your engagement with your fellow coaches.

The intention of this thread is for us all to share our thoughts and ideas on how we can best help one another to pass time over the ensuing months whilst in lockdown.

Any recommendation on movies, dramas, books, games, activities, etc. for example.

Lastly, I want to encourage everyone to please keep an eye out for your families & friends and continue to support and communicate socially with them through this phase. If we all do our bit, then the quicker we can get the spread of the virus under control and get some normality back into our daily lives.

I hear that the 1996 film White Squall (staring Jeff Bridges and directed by Ridley Scott) is pretty good. I haven't seen it, but might try to find the time in the coming weeks.

Summary - "Captain Christopher Sheldon takes a bunch of teenage boys on an ill-fated sailing voyage where they must use all the skills they have learnt so far to survive a white squall".

I'm going to go on a star wars marathon at some point
Then maybe a marvel marathon
Here, then, is the chronological viewing order of the Marvel movies:
  • Captain America: The First Avenger (takes place during WWII)
  • Captain Marvel (takes place in 1995)
  • Iron Man (takes place in 2010)
  • Iron Man 2 (takes place after Iron Man)
  • The Incredible Hulk (time unspecified, pre-Avengers)
  • Thor (time unspecified, pre-Avengers)
  • The Avengers (takes place in 2012)
  • Iron Man 3 (takes place six months after The Avengers)
  • Thor: Dark World (post-Avengers, pre-Ultron)
  • Captain America: Winter Soldier (post-Avengers, pre-Ultron)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (sometime in 2014)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (after Guardians)
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (takes place in 2015)
  • Ant-Man (takes place in 2015)
  • Captain America: Civil War (post-Ultron, pre-Infinity War)
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming (post-Civil War, pre-Infinity War)
  • Doctor Strange (takes place in 2016)
  • Black Panther (takes place in 2017)
  • Thor: Ragnarok (post-Ultron, pre-Infinity War)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (takes place in 2017)
  • Ant-Man and The Wasp (ambiguous, but fits nicely between IW and Endgame)
  • Avengers: Endgame (starts in 2017, finishes in 2022)
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home (post-Endgame)

I think people are beginning to see that the Corona virus is the least of the worlds problems.
It's looking more and more like an influenza type virus has been given a catchy name and pumped up using media by governments to buy time to start putting in place the measures they are going to need to keep social order. We are in unchartered waters here, as most of us have not lived through a depression, let alone a world wide one. They are predicting millions to be unemployed by Christmas, I personally know people who have already lost their jobs and have mortgages to pay.

It's been a pleasure playing SC with you fellas and at times like these we all need to remind ourselves that life is full of ups and downs and that while we are entering a down period for the foreseeable future that there is always an up waiting just over the horizon.

Best of luck and take care out there.

Just found out it's my final week at work, after that I will be working from home. Good news for my boss is at least there won't be any sport to distract me...

I know I'm still one of the lucky ones and I do have ongoing work. Hopefully everyone here comes through this OK.

Nice words @THCLT

We have sold our bar and settlement was due today. The guys taking it on have 5 other venues that have shut down including this one with 85 employees out of a job. They are still committed to taking my joint on, but the ramifications of holding places for an extended period of time have (and will) put a huge strain on their cash reserves, so we are working through ways of being creative about how to complete the process.

I have committed to buying a housebout and mooring with the intention of going completely off grid, hopefully the guys that I'm dealing with can wait for funds to become available eventually.

Personally, I have very little in cash reserves and will struggle to meet my commitments. I have however paid all of my staff (10 of em) even though I might end up on the street.

Centrelink is an absolute abortion. For example there is a statement on their contact page that they do not provide email access!!!. It's impossible to phone them and the only way to register with them is to have a customer reference number (CRN) which can only be obtained by fronting up in person. The Social Services minister has advised that a CRN is not needed but I need to call Centrelink to do my ID over the phone. That can't be done because they aren't accepting calls.

I am only one of a million or more people that need support right now. After 8 hours of roadblocks today I'm at my wits end. There's a crapload of people in the same boat and my heart felt sympathy goes out to them.

SC was my way of escaping the dramas.....

I had been wondering how your settlement would go, hopefully you can work out a path that works for you both. It’s good to see people thinking that way.

Less positively, it seems Centrelink hasn’t improved a bit since I had repeated terrible experiences with them about 15 years ago. Incredibly bureaucratic, almost always inconsistent, and they seemed to suspect everyone was trying to steal from them, even when there was good evidence to the contrary.

Some other government agencies (especially in NSW, where I live) are actually excellent to deal with now. Pretty disgraceful that Centrelink seemingly hasn’t improved from such a low base after such a long period.

@THCLT, great idea for a thread ?

@OnTopBar and all those others out there that are going through a tough period, I know they are only words and I know it's probably easy for me to say, but all I can do is wish you the best of luck and hope you get through this tough period as best you can.

Hopefully as a nation and SC community we can get through this as best as we can and come out the other end better and stronger.

At the end of the day SC comes second in times like this and I hope all out there that are going through tough times and able to get though and we can eventually get back some footy and SC.
