Forward that has had their bye: Walters or Jack Martin

Have: Petracca, Whitfield, Dusty, BSmith, OMac, XXX

The extra $ with the Martin might be useful in the weeks ahead for direct trades rather than requiring further rookie downgrades, draw looks ok too. Walters "feels" more premium.
I'm bringing Walters in this week, last week he played well but seemed to play a high half-forward role, rather than a mid role. He might be still be able to score okay in that role but I'll be gambling he starts to get more midfield time as he eases back from the hamstring. Was he a forward pocket or a half-forward during those earlier years at Freo?

I can either get:

JPK + J Martin with 4 trades (leaves 3 remaining after next week)

OR

T Mitchell + Wingard with 5 trades (2 remaining)

It seems a little lopsided to me, and logic tells me I should just take the first option. But with best 18 and only 2 rounds left where our full 22 actually count, I just can't go past T Mitchell as the only real "super premo" I don't have

Is there an option for Mitchell and someone else if you want him? 5 trades to get Mitchell and Wingard seems too many, even 4 trades for the first option is not great. Need a bit more info to work this out, as it seems there could be some wasted trades here.

Yeah okay let me show you what I am working with:

1598486986371.png

So realistically the first option only takes 3 trades:

Round 14: Geo > Martin

Round 15: Draper > DEF rookie, Bytel/Wicks > JPK

The reason I would do the fourth is that the 4 trades I would have remaining are probably not much good without some cash in the bank, so would take Mozzie/Riccardi this round just to plump up the cash ITB

Second option takes a few more trades, and leaves no cash:

Round 14: Geo > Mozzie/Riccardi, Draper > DEF rookie, Sturt > T Mitchell (Foot sent FWD)

Round 15: Bytel > Mid Rookie, Wicks > Wingard (or sub $400k fwd)

Leaves no cash ITB and only 2 trades

I guess I am probably trying too hard to do something different...

Option 1 for me based on this, but I'm sure others can possibly suggest a better option for your trades. There's not much value in the sub-400K forward range, I know as that's what I have been looking at this week too.

Thanks mate. Was thinking that as well, will stick to the original plan I think

Bont plus 60k v Macrae
Bont has basically matched Macrae over the last 4 rounds, and I expect they will be much closer priced after this round. If you want one, Macrae is averaging a bit better and any tags go to Bont of the two, so I prefer Macrae without the money consideration. Depends on your plans for the 60K, and if you are at the luxury trade stage or still need to make further upgrades. If the former, Macrae, if the latter, Bont.

Edit: Saw your team in the trades thread, with a few rookies still on field, I prefer Bont.

Goldstein vs Nic Nat? Not worried about Goldy's bye next week, primarily interested in this week and the run home

They play each other R18, up until then NN has Tigers, Bulldogs and Saints, Goldy has Suns, Power and Dockers. Close between the two, Saints and Suns seem the toughest match ups here. I would probably give the edge to Naitanui overall. Only concern is if he is given a rest. I guess it depends on where you are sitting in leagues as to which round you need the points more. If you are in elimination matches this round, take Naitanui otherwise go for Goldstein.

Gut instinct is to get Kelly in and save on the trade. All three are in the top 8 mids (currently), keep the trade to cover "resting" in the lead up to finals. May get a few points less each week, but the saved trade could easily get those points back plus more for you too.

Less chance Neale gets rested after his bye. Melb and Ess players surely running out of steam. Jelly always a chance to miss a game.

Gaff V Whitfield V Fyfe.

Bit of a price difference between the three, going Gaff over Fyfe would give me a better opportunity to get Neale or Oliver over a Pendles/Adams type in a few weeks.

I guess you get what you pay for. More points now, or more points in the future? Take the points now and go for Fyfe.

Would appreciate people's thoughts on who is likely to end the year out of:
Steele + Greenwood OR
Boak + Brayshaw

Playing for leagues so the round 15 bye is unimportant.

I can make arguments either way. First thought was Boak and Brayshaw before checking on the numbers, but it's likely not by as clear a margin as I thought. As a Greenwood owner, he has had a few frustrating scores in the 80-90 range lately which is what puts me off that combo. I do like Steele though.

Option 2 for me.

Thanks for the response mate, do you have any thoughts on whether Steele may be a candidate to get tagged by either Hutchings in Round 17 or De Boer in Round 18? Or do the saints have better options to tag?
Must admit that I haven't seen that many St. Kilda games this year, but have been watching Steele's scores with envy. Would have loved to have both him and Brayshaw in the side but Draper's omission has put a stop to that!
