What about this:

Scenario:
- 25k in bank
- 9 trades left
- through to PF in main league
- not playing for overall

R15:
Grundy > Balta.
Serong > Haynes, via Ruscoe
Close > J Cameron

Team would be:
Lloyd, Stewart, Haynes, Ridley, Crisp, Doc (B Williams, Cottrell)

Neale, Macrae, Oliver, Mitchell, Lyons, J Kelly, Danger, Whitfield (Wicks, Bytel, Ruscoe)

Gawn, Draper (Comben)

Petracca, Hawkins, B Smith, Simpkin, Balta, J Cameron (Riccardi, Mosquito), 56k in bank, 6 trades left.

Would be over-exposed to Giants but they have everything to play for. Should have 18 available for R15 (Jelly out), more if some of my rooks get named but not playing for overall anyway. Light on DEF bench.

Maybe Jelly and Bytel to Steele plus cheap rook before R16. Four trades left. Then after R16 try to get Grundy back in for PF by trading out some combination of Draper, Riccardi and Balta (if prices allow that is). Two trades left.

My Blakey experiment looks a fail so thinking:
Blakey, Jelly and Draper out
Rookie, JPK and Gawn in
Would prefer to hold Jelly if it's only 1 week but I need to find the $150k somewhere to get Draper to Gawn.
That will leave me with 0 trades and Riccardi as my F6. Not ideal but so be it.
Undoubtedly not saving any trades will end badly for me but will kinda be happy to not have to think about SC anymore this season
Think I'm probably better off holding Blakey and Jelly and bringing in ROB instead of Gawn.
Would still require the 3 trades but would be trading out Close and Bytel to rookies instead to fund Draper to ROB.
Would appreciate anyone's thoughts.
Would mean my final team ends up:
Def: Lloyd, Laird, Maynard, Stewart, Z Williams, Docherty/ Rookie (Gould or Butts), Ling
Mid: Neale, Steele, Titch, Fyfe, Jelly, Duncan, Cripps, Walters/ Wicks, Rivers, Rookie (Dow)
Rucks: Grundy, R O'Brien, B Williams
Fwds: Petracca, Dusty, Greenwood, Whitfield, Simpkin, Blakey, Riccardi, Reid

Time to get Serong off the field for a 'prem' mid. Noting anyone I trade in seems to go to crap this season. Thinking MCrouch could be the go...not that Adelaide needs any help being crap.

Then 4 trades to get Draper of field, although he does have a Williams guard on the bench. Maybe I get rid of Wingard. Yes, Wingard to a 0 and play a donut for the rest of the season, far less frustration

Really struggling to come up with any trades that can move me up the rankings and separate me from the pack. I am 27th overall at the moment and feel that I might just creep up a few spots and end up 15 to 20th. Great result that I would have taken at the start of the year but when you are within touching distance you really want to go for it.

I have 6 trades and 148K in the bank. I know some people prefer to keep trades a secret but if anyone is basing their trades on what I am doing they are nuts.

Would love for anyone to throw some suggestions at me. I love a POD so will consider anything. Sometimes it is good to get other views to start you thinking in another direction.

I am 99% certain that I am trading Kelly (for the second time this year). Other than that I am open minded

I think you should look at a Goldy to Gawn trade this round. Another trade I would consider is Cameron up to Brayshaw in the forward line.

Slingshot Simpkin to Andy Brayshaw or Close/Cameron to Daniher for a spike score?

Or wait a week and take Draper to Ryder (POD) or Greenwood (solid)?

Mainly seems like F6 is where you need half an upgrade.

Great post, and something I've been contemplating too. For me - it's not about being different for differents sake - it's about finding those biggest scorers until the end of the season.
I think you should look at a Goldy to Gawn trade this round. Another trade I would consider is Cameron up to Brayshaw in the forward line.
Both those trades will separate you fron those in front, although I suspect that most will go nic nat to gawn. He seems like a negative POD if you don't get him (disclaimer - im planning on getting him next round) so he should be on the list.

Freoshaw is another good POD. Maybe JCameron as well?

Id also try yo get Neale in this round (again - i am) for Jelly or Cripps (again, same)

Then you can save trades for injuries and whichever mids are playing Adelaide or Sydney.

Congrats on the high ranking, and to have done it without Neale all year is an outstanding effort.

I don't know if I should be offering any views as I'm a 2nd year player and currently ranked 15k, but anyway here goes.

Looks like you'll be fielding 18 players this round with Cameron, Draper and Rivers scores all to count, obviously not ideal and probably is on top of your agenda to sort.

The upgrade of F6 can wait until the best of 18 rounds finish.

The same could probably be said for your rucks although a flick of Grundy > Gawn for round 16 might separate you from the pack (hopefully not in a negative way) although that gets problematical over rounds 17 + 18.

So I guess you've got to concentrate on getting the most amount of premos playing for round 15 as that's probably your best chance of making up ground over the last 4 rounds. I don't know what the makeup is of say the top 10 teams but they should give you an idea of what the 26 in front of you look like. Depends a lot on how many trades they have left as to what they can do to maximise their round 15 premos.

In short for this round....
Stewart > Laird, who's been getting used as a mid over the last 3 rounds or so
Boak > Neale/Zorko/Lyons, I might be wrong but I think the Lions have a reasonable run home. Merrett could be worth a look too.
Simpkin > A Brayshaw/Greenwood.
Hold Kelly for his ceiling.
By my count I think that gives you 18 premos playing

No trades for round 16

Upgrade F6 round 17

1 trade left for the inevitable injury in rounds 17 & 18

Just my 2c and I might be completely off the mark, but good luck with whatever you choose to do. I'll be watching with interest.

2 trades for me

B Smith > Mitchell
Mahoney > FD, probably O'Connor

Gonna keep Riccardi at F6 as I only have 2 trades left to hopefully upgrade Draper at R2 at round 17

If you want a POD for your forward line their is no bigger than Big Charlie , could be boom or bust but suspect most of the teams around you already have the usual Brayshaw , Greenwood , Martin , Petracca , Simpkin , Smith , Walters , Whitfield etc etc

Dare to be different ?

Mind you , I probably have no idea what I am talking about either 😀

Good luck

Wingard to Daniher because why not? Ranked 10k and have been thereabouts for 12 weeks so not much is changing as I keep plugging along.

Macrae to JPK. Crazy but there's only 3 games left after this week so the damage hopefully won't be too bad.

The cash lets me go Draper to Gawn next week and then have one trade/half upgrade left for kicks.

Holding Jelly for the moment, he'll miss this week but if it's -only- concussion he could play the last 3 games
