Strategy Round 15: Trades

I frustratingly watched Cripps closely against the Pies. I'm not convinced that there was that much defensive work put into him. I saw him free plenty of times and matched up fairly often against players other than Pendles at stoppages. He was just poor and my assessment of his season is that the Blues don't need to target him as much as they used to with Dow, Setterfield and Walsh types developing.
Neale is at another level this season and I reckon he'll be fresh after the bye. Lions probably will blow away the Pies too, they're not as elite this season.

He had a few different opponents but I saw a lot of Pendles trying to defend him at the clearance in the first 2 and a half quarters, and then it dropped off. I know Neale is on another level but he hasn't really liked getting attention the past two seasons and Collingwood rotated Pendles and Treloar to man him at stoppages in R4 2019, not to completely shut him down but to slow him down, they did a similar thing thing to Macrae in 2018. If that happens he probably scores 90-110, but I see it as a real possibility so I would prefer to avoid him as Captain.

I may, however, be overthinking things, and might just do Titch into Neale. Every club puts some together some sort of defensive effort to stop a player like Neale, I just remember it being a clear and effective strategy that worked last time with it being more attention than a club would normally give him. Treloar/Pendles were concerned with stopping him at many of the stoppages, rather than winning their own ball. It wasn't a hard tag and they didn't tag him away from stoppages, but it worked and like I said they did it to Macrae as well with Pendles a year earlier. Buckley does have a history of tagging a select few of elite players though and Pendles did some amount of tagging at stoppages last week.

Just say I wanted to get Gawn in in the next 2 rounds what would be the best way forward?
Idealy I would love to get a look at Draper tonight, but the problem is that if he spuds it up, the only 'cheaper' rucks I would be interested in in would be Goldstein (bye), O'Brien (plays tonight) and McEvoy (plays tonight).
I'm open to Grundy to Gawn, but would still need a downgrade first to even do that.
Gawn would be ideal in R2, but without trading valuable payers away and valuable trades, maybe he is just not viable?

Far out, just 1 rookie player not being named this week has thrown me completely out. Day plays today and I would be comfortable rolling with it and having something like 20 players. With perhaps 5 rookies.
But Day not being named has me paranoid about the other rookies (who are less well performing and would give me stuff all $ if traded). So now I'm thinking that I have to trade Day out, but there is really no good downgrade target. I can sideways to Quaynor but he has a bye next week (although I'm good for numbers next week), but it seems a waste. Bailey Williams an option? Seems like he'll be gone in a week?

If going ahead with it just barrack hard for McKay and Draper and cheer on the Dees but also hope that Gawn can score below projected.
OR another thought is to bring in Riccardi this week for Cameron who should provide good fwd coverage then go for McInerney and Draper to Gawn and rookie next week. Can then keep McKay as Def cover too.

Approximately expected 30~ points gained per round hereon. Gawn however is a captain threat.
Approximate gains until end of season 30*4 = 120 + value gained from Gawn as a VC/C option

Baz (95)-> A.Brayshaw (105)
Viney (95~) -> M.Crouch (110)
Close -> Rookie
Round 15 gains : Brayshaw takes a rookie off field (55) + 15 = 70
Round 16 onwards 25~
Approximate gains until end of season: 70 + 25*3 = 145
