ok taken some feedback onboard and enlightened reading a couple of pages of @Rowsus thread. I've gone some expensive rookies forward, possibly as placeholders. Don't want to risk everything in the forwards, anyway Danger and Macrae come in and can eventually switch Danger forward when upgrading my mids. Hoping Bailey Williams gets games and shares the load with Nic Nat. Back to longer quarters, so I can see he will require a chop out at some stage.

This looks really good @Professor!

I'd almost forgotten Dow as another 200k "veteran" rookie. Do you think he breaks back into the best 22 consistently this year after being dropped end of 2020? His scoring to date has not been much: passing 80 only once with his best a string of 60s and 70s.

I guess if we are short of rookies he could put up some solid if not amazing numbers to allow that 1-premo forward line.

Thanks Leroy. Not sure how he fits in best 22 atm, by reports he's bigger and stronger and has worked on his weaknesses. I'd say he'd be part of the midfield rotations, but, I'd like to see at least one game. The lack of preseason games, doesn't help us assess who might be in for a good season.

This is where I'm at right now:

Laird, Docherty, Williams, Milera, DGB, Jones (Gould, Highmore)
Neale, Oliver, Macrae, Cripps, Green, Heppell, Phillips, Campbell (Valente, Downie, Rioli)
Gawn, Grundy (Cyclone)
Marshall, Heeney, Ziebell, Daniher, Impey, Hutchings (Macrae, Cockatoo)

Only 11 keepers (Laird, Docherty, Williams, Neale, Oliver, Macrae, Cripps, Grundy, Gawn, Marshall, Heeney), but if the rookies come the structure can change somewhat to get Green/Ziebell maybe up to another.

Happy with structure, names may change , maybe too 'stock standard' but that can be addressed later.

Would love your thoughts on my team community..... I’m not sold on Duggan and Taranto but they are in atm. Otherwise pretty happy with the team.

Could always go Martin down to Heeney if you are worried about Martin starting slow. Would allow Taranto up if u wanted. Could well work out to be 2 keepers and able to target Martin after his slow patch.
Yes I could go down to Heeney. And that could give me Fyfe back. But Heeney is boring....

take two. got it working this time. would love your thoughts on my team.
Some good, "safe" picks in there.. I'm big on the Gawn/Grundy/Neale combo so reckon that'll keep you sorted for C options. My only concern is you have 5 players in the $400-$500k range which feels quite risky.. even if 2-3 work out you'll have some issues with those that don't.. but also there is a real danger of clogging your team with D6/M8/F6 types.

I like Duggan, Williams and Butters.. less sold on Taranto or Rowell.. but I would probably look to take out at least 2 of these out and go with a rookie (cash gen) and a solid premium. Cripps at M3 feels light, so would either target a mid premium if you can find one you like - if there are none you like, possible look at Laird to the mids, or starting someone like Martin (not my preferred options but something you could look at).

Might get rid of those two and bring in Merrett/jelly and go a mid price in Heppell/Milera....

Love it. It's so similar to my team it's scary. Yours is the Gawndy version, mine the Greuss version. I think Taranto but also, Rowell and Butters is a little sketchy banking on them all to be keepers. But bloody good shot at 14 keeper side (which mine is not!)

Like the others suggest in various ways, a $300k stepping stone: Harmes, Heppell, Preuss, Caldwell type will allow bit more certainty on your 12th/13th selection(s).

Thinking of not starting Marshall

Gives me 9 + 4 + Z/D/I + 6

Lloyd , Laird , Z Williams , Duggan , DGB + 3

Oliver , J Kelly , Fyfe , Cripps , Rowell , Taranto , Phillips , Campbell + 3

Gawn , Grundy /Treacy

Heeney , Ziebell , Daniher , Impey + 4

Upgrade the rookies Round 7-11

Upgrade Daniher , Impey , Ziebell during the Byes.

Reassess Williams , Duggan , Rowell , Taranto at the Byes.

Just on Hutchings, he is injured & will miss the start of the season.

Nice side overall (y)

Why are you thinking of not starting Marshall?

To me he is the most solid fwd premium option, so many question marks over all the other starting fwd premium options in my opinion & with Treacy in your team as a fwd/ruck, he provides the perfect link with Marshall to provide cover if Gawn/Grundy miss games.

Just was looking at his historical averages (yes we need to go more indepth season by season)

92.3 v GWS
83.3 v Melbourne
103.7 v Essendon

could start slow and be available cheaper

agree about the other premiums

F7 & F8 actually provide the ruck cover , will they still be playing if and when it is required ?

St Kilda play b4 Melbourne in Round 3 so can't cover Gawn if a late out

Round 4 they play b4 both Collingwood & Melbourne

Round 5 the Saints play the first game

Round 7 - > start to upgrade

Treacy may even be in the mix for early games with Darcy & Taberner injured

I guess if we know in advance if Gawn/Grundy is injured and how many games they may miss I need to make a decision.

Just looking at options , probably both Duggan & Williams could become Stewart + rookie so that then could turn a Rowell/Taranto into Marshall

not sure yet , seems Phillips & Campbell are viable mids lot of names being thrown around for bench spots who may or not play.

@Ironhawk

Lloyd + 7

Neale , Oliver , Kelly , Fyfe , Laird * , Cripps , Rowell + 4

Gawn , Grundy / Treacy

Marshall , Heeney , Z/D/I + 3

If the defensive rookies appear and all hold up for the first 6-8 rounds could be winner , winner chicken dinner

Laird in the mids , Chugg/Laurie/Worrell (if selected) forward offer 2 possible short term corrective trades in Round 3 if needed.
