@Ironhawk

Lloyd + 7

Neale , Oliver , Kelly , Fyfe , Laird * , Cripps , Rowell + 4

Gawn , Grundy / Treacy

Marshall , Heeney , Z/D/I + 3

If the defensive rookies appear and all hold up for the first 6-8 rounds could be winner , winner chicken dinner

Laird in the mids , Chugg/Laurie offer 2 possible short term corrective trades in Round 3.
Strong midfield there.

Not a structure I have considered starting this season, I might add it to my list of possibilities...

There's usually a few must have mids you will be missing and with only two spots available, could hurt you longer term. As you said, it could pay off though if you can get your picks right, and enough rookies on field.

Does look alright that midfield.

If and when Fyfe & Kelly breaks that opens up 2 extra spots.

Who knows how Rowell performs.

Lots of different starting structures.

Some of these $ 450k guys like Duggan , Heeney , Taranto , Williams are probably affordable down the track if they go bang from the start.

Depends on the rookies , hopefully we have lots of clubs announcing their debut before the first game.

Fyfe did kick a lazy 5 the other day, not too shabby.

Thinking of not starting Marshall

Gives me 9 + 4 + Z/D/I + 6

Lloyd , Laird , Z Williams , Duggan , DGB + 3

Oliver , J Kelly , Fyfe , Cripps , Rowell , Taranto , Phillips , Campbell + 3

Gawn , Grundy /Treacy

Heeney , Ziebell , Daniher , Impey + 4

Upgrade the rookies Round 7-11

Upgrade Daniher , Impey , Ziebell during the Byes.

Reassess Williams , Duggan , Rowell , Taranto at the Byes.
nice mate, I think Heeney potentially joins that last group as well, I think that is why the concern over Marshall. Perhaps a Taranto into a $300-350k player would allow the upgrade: think Harmes, Hibbard, Caldwell types. There is not 30ppg difference between Taranto and those guys, so it's not a value for money upgrade, you'll make more cash and Caldwell/Harmes are an outside chance of keeper level as much as Taranto is, anyway.

He did but the most relevant part for me is that he spent so much of the game playing as a forward.

Quite clear to me that Longmuir is going to give the young guys in Brayshaw/Cerra/Serong much time in the guts with Fyfe spending more time fwd than previous years - makes sense to me, Fyfe is such a dangerous fwd/ Freo have publicly stated they want to improve their goal scoring power this season. Playing Fyfe more fwd will certainly help that.

If their is another onfield mid rookie that looks viable I would probably go Taranto down (have read the discussions to and for the starting him).

Harmes (Milera) might be too risky with Williams & Duggan as well.

Heppell would be the one as he has proven scoring history but their is still conflicting reports on whether he will play Round 1 or not.

Just wonder how long his foot lasts with the intensity of games if their are still concerns now.

Can't see Caldwell becoming close to a keeper , leaves the Giants because of lack of opportunity yet goes to a club with even more mid options , strange decision.

May be used as a run with role as the Giants used to anyway.

Not sure about Hately , Crows have so many options outside of their main mid group.

Green maybe

Sier probably not

Brodie no one has mentioned.

Caddy has had reasonable numbers in the past.

Tucker was showing signs last season.

Sholl could be of interest.

Connor Blakely is $ 295k , surely this is his year.

Atkins could be a M6 anchor.

Jordan Clark , Paddy Dow , Lachie Young.

I guess with all those $ 300-350k players , if you don't start them and they do get off to a flyer , their price shouldn't rise too much in the first 4-6 rounds and still be gettable.

Green maybe (I wish, love watching him play)

Sier probably not (He clearly did something to buck's ex, can't get a spot on the team)

Brodie no one has mentioned. (I won't either)

Caddy has had reasonable numbers in the past. (Middling at best)

Tucker was showing signs last season. (I have not considered, perhaps to my detriment)

Sholl could be of interest. (agreed)

Connor Blakely is $ 295k , surely this is his year. (about bloody time if it comes off, but young uns' gunna get the role I feel)

Atkins could be a M6 anchor. (perhaps, but awks price)

Jordan Clark , Paddy Dow , Lachie Young. (are they 15-20 ppg better at a minimum, risky business).

Fine, all those other options suck, start Buddy! I just listed my pick across each of the non-full lines. Actually rookies with cash in the bank for a rnd 4 upgrade, nice! I know you consider broadly, so FWIW my comments on those listed above in brackets.

Only $ 312k as well 😀

Rucks first , rookies next , then premiums

I am sure their will be plenty of early season bolters between $ 250-400k that no one had even mentioned.

Just found one myself that is priced similar to Rozee and has been promised more mid time , whether he can be a keeper or not , I have no idea but sure would be one hell of a ride if he were to become a keeper.

Heppell could work out of the mids.

Harmes with more mid time.

Milera if he can actually stay on the park.

If I pick Buddy , can I pick Tom Tom as well ?

Might just go 3-5-2-2 + Z/D/I if the rookies are selected and then jump on the early season bolters.

Wait until the pre season games and we will have flavour of the week picks as well.

Father or son ? 😀

Have read a lot of positivity about him preseason but whether that translates into a large increase in SC points I have no idea to be honest.

I don't know enough about his disposals , CP , tackles etc etc on how that translates to SC scoring and which areas he needs to improve/increase to become a viable player in SC.

I am sure others here have that information.

Certainly has the credentials to become a very special player.

Priced at $ 442,200.00 so is in that price range where many feel he needs to go 105+ to be a successful pick.

Still would surprise me that teams have completed mids all scoring 110+ (even then you could be missing those on a hot streak at the end of the season outscoring those based on seasons averages).

Taranto , Prestia , Daicos , Cunnington , LDU , Shedda etc certainly have the potential to get off to a flyer.

I like @Dimmawit idea of using Taranto as then potentially being a "easier" avenue to a $ 625-650k mid so maybe Daicos could be used similarly.

After careful consideration & slight tinkering, decided to pick the top 4 midfielders (price-wise) due to their performance/average/reliability/stability last year, especially with question marks around Fyfe, Jelly, Titch (injury/longevity wise), and settled with Grawndy in rucks (no Preuss)

Decided Rowell & any midpricers (bar Williams if he even counts as one) wasn't worth the risk.

I figured going the Risk Averse option may give a better outcome than trying to pick any of the 10 odd midpricers thrown up in DEF/MID/RUCK/FWD lines and selecting the wrong one(s).

Appreciate any feedback!

Can't fault your premiums but with 13 players $ 117,300.00 or under and $ 13,700.00 in the Bank doubt it even gets close to happening 😀
