Team A easily for me.

Cunnington had one massive SC score but otherwise hasn't been SC relevant scoring wise (great player though) & Rowell looks a young gun (I am a big fan like most) however Gawn is a proven SC gun that has the "golden ticket" in that he scores so ridiculously high in every game & is such a viable capt choice every week/ has a great early draw v teams that he has amazing records against & (along with Grundy) is one of the only 2 proven super premiums on his line.

I highly doubt that any team that doesn't have Gawn in their team by the early part of the season will be in the top echelon of the rankings this year.
@stephen

4 onfield rookies with Flynn , would have preferred Gawn to Grundy

D: Laird , Stewart , Docherty , Williams , Duggan + Rookie

M: Merrett , Jelly , Fyfe , Boak , Walsh , Cripps , Heppell + Rookie

R: Grundy , FLYNN / Treacy *

F: Lobb * , Heeney , Ziebell , Daniher , Impey + Rookie

Whats the flynn back up plan? If plays 1 or 2 games?

Never posted a rate my team before, as I feel I change a lot before the season starts, but here is my current team as it stands, would appreciate some feedback from some high ranking players around here. Cheers in advance 👍

An option could be:
Out: J Lloyd, S May and S Sidebottom
In: R Laird, T Stewart and C Oliver (via Dangerfield)

Other than that, a very solid side and nice to see N Anderson in the midfield. I would also start looking at structures where def rookies start at D5 instead of D4, in case they do not appear in RD1.

Jake Lloyd and Rory Laird have to be the first two picked in defence.

Sidebottom is the biggest trap of 2021 and I will die on this hill. Take him out, swap Dangerfield forward, and get Laird in.

Disclaimer: I am not a high ranked player.

Yes. Hence the difficulty in filling the forward line.
Easy solution is to abolish the rule. All well and good to be cautious about selecting players when entering the twilight of their careers but I do not see the benefit in applying it to players from all positions thus decreasing the player pool you are selecting from.

Enright and Simpson are prime examples of players averaging 95-100+ well into their mid thirties as well as being two of the most durable players. Seems nonsensical to apply it defenders and outside midfielders as rucks and the contested midfielders or the players most likely to suffer once they reach this age bracket.

Everyone will have a view around players, some like an anderson, some will not.

Out of your premiums, May is one of the question marks. With less rotations and longer quarters, scoring levels should be up as defense midfield falls away. Defenders at risk of scoring less, particularly interceptors and spoilers.may has long history as last year higher than normal.

Sidey has one big score that inflates his price, May benefit from Treloar not there.

For me, you look to have 11 premiums and three heavy mid pricers. On the bell curve, 11 will be low.

Most will have 12 and some may try for 13 if the rookies arrive.

If going with 11, you probably want rock solid selections which may mean paying a little overs. Also hope atleast one midpricer becomes a keeper, otherwise others will have that spot potentially making $150k.

I had the rule last season and it got me my best ever finish. Dangerfield and Dusty are the two players who'll tempt me the most to break it, but through my own history it's definitely a good thing to eliminate the risks of picking up players that will most likely decline as a rule.

I wouldn't advise it as a sound strategy for others, but for myself the results speak for themselves.

Probably would need to find out what the ruck plan is likely to be at the Giants : -

will they play Flynn as # 1 ?
is Mummy playing in the picture ?
will they use Finlayson/Keeffe ?
how far away is Briggs ?

etc etc

but I guess if he played only 1-2 games you would then need to have a F/R backup plan in place

Treacy may (or may not) play from the start and provide cover.

I guess you need to consider all/every rookie selected for Round 1 and how best they fit into our 30 or onfield 22.

who do you think the Giants will use as their # 1 ruck ?

I'm seeing blue atm, ball being delivered seamlessly from defence to attack. Top 6 here we come. I'm not worried about the byes just yet. 😜

Sorry Professor I missed this yesterday.

See you are definitely heading towards a all Carlton team by Round 1.

Haven't considered Saad or McKay myself but everyone else I certainly have.

Only 4 onfield rookies

11 potential keepers

Looks good

Opinions are like buttholes - everyone has one. If people didn't want a wide range of views they shouldn't post on a forum. No one is perfect or always offers the best advice.

Also @Herbie66 - a broken clock is correct twice a day ;)
correct

Or we can have 2 threads , one for the higher ranked coaches to offer advise and the other for the rest 😀

I wonder if clocks are still popular these days or even watches ?

Might have gone the same way as the newspaper.

In all seriousness though I personally would love to see more advice/tips from a lot of the great (consistently highly ranked) coaches on here , when they do post and you see their rankings over a 5-10 year period , they are extraordinary.

They may have a lot of information that could/would help a lot of people.

I know I'm hesitant to offer advice because I hardly watch any football or spend hours making spread sheets and analysing the data. I go with my gut and how I think teams will set up, then check if Rowsus or Bomber18 have said anything opposite what I'm thinking. Im happy to talk about my thought processes, but at the end of the day the coach still needs to make the final call.

If in doubt, I just don't do what @PC does ;)

Happy with this until the rookies are confirmed

D: DOCHERTY , Williams , Duggan , Harmes , Milera

(Harmes + Milera can become Daniel/Stewart + rookie if viable)

M: MERRETT , J KELLY , FYFE , BOAK , LAIRD * , CRIPPS , Heppell

R: GAWN , GRUNDY

F: HEENEY , Ziebell , Daniher , Impey

10 premiums
5 midpricers (probably too many)
Z/D/I
4 onfield rookies

interesting comment I saw somewhere that we probably change 50% of our starting team during the season

probably too many players who could easily break , so if they do hope they stagger it over a few months

sorry I am not a highly enough ranked player to offer advice

Thanks for the feedback guys/gals and never meant offence by saying 'higher ranked players' just meant there are clearly a lot of people here who seem to be Top 1000 most seasons, so appreciate their input. I'm open to all advice for what it's worth..
