Welcome to the site.

Certainly no expert , but good to see some different players in Ryan , Maynard and Nic Nat @ R2 is very different.

Plenty of $$$ and high priced rookies to allow adjustments , once the rookies are confirmed for Round 1 which ultimately will decide all of our final sides/structures.

Just joining all that together - I think Nic Nat is still under an injury cloud, so there is some doubt he will be fully fit for the season proper.
Probably need to look elsewhere for another premium R2.

This is my current set up. Mostly watching Harmes, Green, Hately and Heppell in the preseason,

I'm a bit worried about midfield rookie depth, but if another fwd/def rookie pops up then can swing Dunkley/Laird to mids and add rookie,

A bit iffy on McDonald and Short, with McDonald unsure of how Noble wants him to play in def and Short only has the one corona season scraping as a premo, but did average 101 without Houli and new rules may favour him.

Probably will go without Neale, will need some patience and calming pills probably.
Have a plan to get Phillips and or Campbell if warranted.

Happy with this for now. Simpkin was a coin toss over Rowell. Wanted a team that can fit Danger and Whitfield incase they make round 1.
Think I have a good spread of high and low end rookies. Thoughts welcome. Cheers.

Looks a good structure and team to me.
I'm not playing Neale myself with his minor calf issue but it might come back to bite me.
Not having Zieball may burn you if he averages 85.

This team has no structure since I replaced Marshall with Oliver:

Lloyd, Daniel, Williams, Witherden, DGB, Bianco, Highmore, Gould.

Neale, Oliver, Merrett, Laird, Cripps, T Kelly, Hollands, Powell, Meade, Durdin, A Fyfe.

Gawn, Grundy, Treacy.

Dunkley, Ziebell, F Macrae, Cockatoo, Smith, Cook, Rioli, Chugg.

Playing around with a forward line featuring J Caldwell at F1.

I really like your defence/ruck/forward lines - very similar to my current structure.

Think your midfield needs tinkering - Not sold on Dunkley at all, my reservations with him getting enough mid time only increased after their practice game. Sloane I feel is on the decline as a fantasy relevant player, so many injuries last few years. Taranto I understand the appeal at his price/ great preseason but he is a real conundrum in that his ball use has been so poor (about 40% efficiency last year I believe) that I think he is going to be more suited to DT. Maybe consider Rowell at 495K (pending how he looks in the suns practice game) for example. Cockatoo with a hamstring injury, guy seems so injury prone I am inclined to leave him out myself.

I like the forward line and 3 weeks out it is probably the approach I am going to take.

However, and this is probably semantics and just a general observation, but what I don't understand, and maybe I am missing something because I have seen a few people do it, is if Dunkley is in your midfield and you have an existing M/F link already (Campbell), isn't he technically your F1? He is a forward, just put him in the forward line? I can understand if people want to start a premium Mid/forward in the mids because they see them as value and there are better rookies in the forward line who aren't DPP who they want to pick initially. Then swing the premium forward when the non-DPP forward rookie has maxed out.

But in this example Dunkley being in the mids seems unnecessary? Feels like its overcomplicating things. Just swap him with Campbell and put him in the forward line where he belongs/will eventually end up? Does any of that make sense?? :)

Correct. Was swung into the midfield from previous trades to get to the current structure and have not played around long enough to see how to replace Dunkley with Oliver/etc without sacrificing too many.

Dunkley- Solid floor thanks to his historically high tackle averages. Positional splits should not have much influence on his scoring as he finished last season 4th for Tackles Per Game and 4th for Tackles Inside 50 Per Game which means he can still be very productive in a forward role.

Taranto- Averaged 6+ tackles in his 2nd (9th total) and 3rd (9th per game) season. Room for improvement regarding disposal efficiency as well as possibly returning back to that 6+ tackle range.

Sloane- High ceiling, capable of a fast start and the opening draw does not look too scary (Geel, Syd, GC, Nth, Freo and Haw). Surprised by his current ownership and how quick coaches are to disregard him. Shorter quarters didn't suit his game style.

Certainly interesting.

If the forward eligible rookies look better than the mid rookies you could nearly start all of Caldwell , Dow & Campbell as mids.

Could get you a premium D5 & D6.

Lots of time to play around

Very nice side. It’s heavier down forward (more balanced?) than most, but that could work well if the Daniher and Impey types don’t perform.

Can I ask whether you are avoiding Doc and/or Williams because you don’t like them as picks?

Or just crowded out by other defs you prefer/bye considerations or the like?

I'd really love to see you just pick a cookie cutter guns and rookie team for once. You seem like a smart guy that loves supercoach but loves a risky pick even more. You could have a really high ranking if you just played it a bit safer at the start and used your analytical skills to trade to success.

If you enjoy the way you play then ignore this. I'd just love to see you have a really high ranking for once!

Love the Simpkin pick. I am backing him in for a 110 average this year (y)
Yeh its a risk reward pic. I can free up more cash to upgrade him but I think he can match anyone under 600k, so unless I drop a daniher and a Phillips type to get Steele (which I'm not willing to do) he's my m5. Happy with the pic
