Strategy is different compared to AFL.

You can get 20-22 guns pretty comfortably. Quite often the winners have only had 1-2 trades for the remaining 4-5 rounds - riding depth on the way home.

Trade hard early to first get the cash generators then the underpriced/dropped guns.

I’d only expect to only save a few trades (2-5) over the first 10 rounds to achieve that.

Matto did basically nothing all game and got 67. SC royalty right there. Crichton and Matto will be number 1 and 2 easily. If you trade them out I’d be planning a way back to them very quickly.

Rain is going to mean low scores likely all weekend, so not be worst weekend to be without a gun.
Thanks. Thinking Lodge and J Madden for RJames and Liddle then.

Thinking then if it's a good idea to flip RJames for Daniel Fifita type if he gets more mins/points? - in a couple of weeks.

Possibly moving Cheese and a CTW (Saab/Fusi) next round

Those trades are solid.

Not sure about Madden out, you did start with him as a nuff for a reason. But could be a smart move for cash gen though.

Lodge to Liddle is a nice trade if you can make it work.

If you have no other issues at all I’d consider holding 1. This round is to fix injuries or obvious players you missed for cash gen purposes or had the wrong read on.

Fifita is a great upgrade target but he’s every chance of a big score any game so will depend on timing. Worth monitoring Cook and lolo after dud week 1 scores. May also be worth finding a way to get Walker ASAP.

Already have 2 Walkers 👍
But need all the help I can get

Here's my team
Cheese Watson
Paulo SST Lodge Uto
Crichton Bennett Tino Capewell Riki Fui
Cleary SWalker
CWalker JMadden
Staines Nui Laurie Simonson Fusi Saab Burbo
Teddy LM

JMadden was a placement for this round - I wanted a look at who'll make money. Cheese was the same, I knew I could count on him for 40+. I have $100k.

Between those two I can now bring in two money makers.
So I'm looking at moving Cheese next round

That’s a really strong side. With SWalker as well I think moving Madden on is a great idea.

That CTW is probably going to kill you at some point though. I’d be looking at getting capewell down there or someone more reliable ASAP.

Good start week 1 with 1320.

Have to move lodge, probably to Leniu who looks great and has very good security.

Really thinking both Lam and Averillo are huge mistakes, paired with a totally dominent half they arn't a reliable play. Really don't want to make a second trade but feel I need to go early on one of them to get ready for the big changes next week.

Lam to Brailey is where i am thinking which puts me back the team I was planning to start with week 1!

Started strongly with a 1365.

Biggest problem was Lam, who could have been moved on this week - but have Kelly to deal with.

To’o the obvious replacement. Was keen all pre-season, but need 30k. Momi to Fergo a week earlier than I’d prefer will suffice, can’t see any better trade. Plenty of upside for Fergo and liked what I saw, good draw can hopefully make some good cash or even be a keeper.

Gives me:

Lam Liddle
Paulo TKO Leniu Uto
Matto Fifita capes Riki fui Crichton
Cleary walker
Watson Moylan
To’o Fergo Laurie Staines Niu simo dunster
Teddy Papi

Will need to find cash next week to move on Lam unless he drops a bit score.

Hi guys,
I am cookin' something for NRL ... I will probably put it online in the afternoon/evening ,
but if that can help for now :
current TOP1000 Ownership ( not so relevant as it gives you the list of players who performed in Rd1)
Vs
Hall of Fame Top 100 ownership .

When ordered by the Spread, I guess it gives you a good picture of good surpises and disappointements...

JMadden was my loop, all but a few rounds I could use him as long as he didn't get a game.
I'm actually thinking of holding him, and doing the following
Lodge + Cheese -> Liddle + D Saifiti?

Leaving me $84k ITB
Although I thought
Cheese -> DSa is probably sideways right?
(Storm vs Eels, Warriors vs Knights - which could possibly be very wet)

I was hoping Cheese would be my season backup - he's so passionate and could score in any game he plays.
which was my main reason for locking in Lodge + Madden (tigers 5/8) for James + Liddle ($90k ITB)
But I was disappointed in his lack of points for his work effort.

Imo James is a quick flip in Rd4/5
But I still don't mind the idea of bringing in DSa now...
Paulo, TKO, DSa isn't a bad 3some for FRF, with Uto as back up (although no duals which James does give)

CTW's
Capewell will be moving to CTW swapping with Burbo
I'll wait to see who shines this round before moving any of the others on
If Cheese doesn't look like his price direction changes then he and a CTW could be on their way out.
Possibly for 2 of Mahoney/JBrailey, Fergo, or Mead or someone else.

Scratch the Cheese to DSa idea, I won't have enough $$ for trading next round.

I definitely don’t think cheese is a keeper - he was always a short term play.

AFB is a cheaper option that could compete for a top 3 FRF spot if you still wanted to go down that path. Was looking to offload at every opportunity last week.

Yes, not a keeper, just was going to be a backup.
it works out better $$ wise for me to move him out after this round.

Matterson copped an elbow shortly into 2nd half it seems.
And i dumped R Smith on the pine.
Hurts my Draft team but not so much my Classic. Although grabbing Ferguson for Lodge didn’t really help me this round. Hoping he’ll bounce back in drier weather next week.

Welch and B.Smith combining for over 110 points is good enough. Hopefully see a few more when updates happen.

Brailey on debut

Wish Matterson all the best in his recovery considering his concussion history. For his safety I should avoid selecting him in the future considering the circumstances regarding my inclusion of Matterson mid season last year.
