Score: 681
Rd Rank: 186
Overall Rank: 1 (from 2)

Very happy to moved into 1st spot which I was pleasantly surprised with given I only ended up with 1 DGW (Shami) due to the injury to Rahul and the cancellation of the game involving Patel and new recruit Captain De Villiers. Hopefully my decision not to opt for multiple loops early in the season will now come in handy given the bench depth I have established.

Ideally I would have liked to have grabbed Ali and Samson this round but with the recent developments that is looking unlikely.

Team before trades:

Shami to Krunal is likely 1 trade sorted but have yet to decide on the remaining and will likely leave it as long as possible unless I decide to grab more Mumbai players given they do not face CSK. 2 of Rahul, Shaw, Narine and Yadav will be traded as I would prefer to keep both Faf and Jadeja for future rounds.
Congratulations on winning the competition 😀

I think it is $ 250.00 for winning , $ 150.00 for second and $ 100.00 for third.

What a debacle.

It would be interesting to see how many overseas players would return if they did find a window later this year. It sounds like a few would feel a lot more comfortable in the UAE.
Just add a few more $$$ on their pay cheque if they have doubts will probably tempt them to return.

I suspect it will for some but not others.

I guess it depends on the level of perceived risk, financial position, other earning opportunities etc.

I think the level of perceived risk (actually contracting Covid / getting stuck overseas without a pathway home) is probably a fair bit higher than it was a few months ago.

I wonder how many of those exiting due to “bubble fatigue” earlier in the tournament were using that as a bit of a cover for broader concerns. Could be totally wrong though ... bubble fatigue is a legitimate reason in itself.

Good article on CricInfo outlining how the IPL "bubbles" failed into comparison to the UAE "bubbles".

Surely if they move the T20 World Cup to the UAE they will try and complete the IPL their beforehand.

Reading Cummins comments he certainly didn't realise the borders could be closed if they had to get home quickly , sounds like the 8 English guys flew commercially back to the UK so not sure why the Aussies could not have got on that flight.

Certainly right though about people catching it in a supposedly secure bubble would make it a lot more real/serious in people's thoughts.

I guess the players from CSK , DC , KKR & SRH are in a week long quarantine so can't mix with others from the other 4 teams until they complete that quarantine.

Sounds like their is going to be a charter flight to the Maldives until they can return to Australia , quarantine here for 14 days then head to the WI sometime in June for the ODI/T20 series , then I gather some are off to the UK for the 💯 so will be bubble/quarantine continuously.

I think a lot of people won't realise the competition has restarted and will cop a lot of donuts early on. Probably good news for those near the top who do remember - should help them get a better rank, as I expect a few of the other top teams will not turn up for the second part of the season.

Good point!

Unfortunately not a lot of upside for @Connoisseur, but hopefully he can defend the position!

Is there anyone in our league who might need a reminder that we are back on in a couple of weeks?

Very happy that I decided against selecting multiple loopholes early in the season instead prioritising cash generation. Quick browse of the top 100 and only yourself and 2-3 sides possess a higher team value (exclusive of remaining salary).

Good point, I hadn’t thought of that aspect - I do recall that I was doing well on that metric now that you mention it.

I feel it injects a significant degree of additional luck into it - eg it sounds like I may have an edge over 90-odd of the top 100 of it’s a full reset of sides - but hopefully we can position ourselves well to take advantage of whatever comes our way.
