PC|05 WEEK XIV REVIEW
doc ron

The week's AFL results just didn't quite pan out the way @doc ron had envisioned so no fireworks to end PC|05.

Our default BCDE multi saluted once again (despite leg B being voided) to the tune of $91.77 thanks largely to Jelly match winning goal.

World Cup of Pool starts tonight and noticed some selections for tournament winner which represent great value.

Spain @ $15.25
2019 Semi Finalists (no tournament in 2020) and unfortunately are on the tougher half of the draw which consists of USA, Great Britain A and the Philippines but would not face any of those teams until the Semi Finals.

Austria @ $9.20
The pairing of Ouschan and He return once again aiming to make their 4th consecutive World Cup of Pool final after winning in 2017 and 2019.

Wouldn't you know it, both have suffered 1st round exits. :ROFLMAO:

As there's no other betting topic, thought I'd post here, as it was this topic which inspired it.

You might remember a couple of times I put $5 on a 3 leg multi at odds of $100+ hoping for an unlikely big win for the club. I decided to try out if that's a good system or not by picking one multi per day at $100+ odds, which I started on 1st of June. I'm not putting on real cash yet, want to get an idea what my success rate is first. I'm not usually a punter, I just found these bets the most fun out of those I put on and figured if I ever was to start, this would be what I'd try - if there was any realistic chance of success (there's plenty of other things I'd rather donate $5 a day to).

First 3 days were a massive failure (1 of 9 total legs got up), the last two have been much better. Friday's bet was Australia in the soccer ($1.28), Bailey 3+ goals ($14) and a random try scorer for Penrith, Fisher-Harris ($6) - first two legs got up, Penrith were awful.

Today I decided to focus on World Cup qualifiers and picked Brazil ($1.22), Guatemala v SVG 5.5+ goals ($5.50) and Barbados to win 1-0 ($15). Again the first two legs got up (Guatemala won 10-0), the third failed with Barbados conceding an equaliser in the 93rd minute (Barbados were pretty big underdogs to win).

Probably nobody cares, I'm sure you all have your own big betting wins etc, just thought I'd post here as it was this punters club which got me even slightly interested in it. Still undecided if I'll give this a crack with real money or not, I'll give it a couple more weeks to see if these two results were a fluke as I expect they were, but $5 a day for a bit of fun is not exactly going to send me broke if I do. Get the feeling any luck I do have when I'm not spending real cash would go away pretty quickly!

PDC World Matchplay begins this weekend and I have found a future bet which might be of some interest:

Quarter 2 Winner- Rob Cross @ $6:
From following article (https://oche180.com/world-matchplay-darts-fitzdares-betting-preview/)
Former champion Cross is defending the £150,000 that he won when capturing this event in 2019 and, whilst the intervening two years have been extremely disappointing, there have been some hints that Voltage is returning to something like the form of old. His 2021 average (96.05) is more than two and a half points higher than his average across 2020 (93.50) and he is also winning more legs (55.13% compared to 51.49%). Whilst Cross’ Premier League campaign ultimately led to early elimination, he was competitive and recorded comprehensive victories against James Wade and the in-form Jonny Clayton. He followed that up with some solid Super Series results, including a run to a semi-final last month that included victories over Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright. Cross really could not have asked for a better draw here, potentially playing two debutants en route to the quarter-final.

Surprisingly, only three seeded players were eliminated in the first round, with two of them (J Wade and G Durrant) coming from this quarter of the draw, meaning Cross is now favourite to win this quarter and has moved into $3.10.

Unfortunately, Cross was unsuccessful in his second round matchup against Rydz. An astonishing 78.57% (11/14) on the doubles was the difference maker as Cross only went at 33.33% (8/24). In addition, Rydz also went at 100% on bull finishes (4/4) including the first 170 of the tournament.

If you have a spare hour today, then I highly recommend watching the Van den Bergh VS Chisnall match, which is currently the match of the tournament. Reigning champion Van den Bergh recorded a tournament record for the second round of 14 180’s and missed 20 darts at double to record the highest average of the tournament so far.

That is until the Semi Final this morning featuring two previous world champions and was worth waking up at approx. 5:00 to see live. 110+ average by Wright and wired a nine dart attempt (see below).

As for the final tomorrow morning against reigning Matchplay champion D Van den Bergh, a few bets I like:
Total Legs (Over 31.5+): $2
Only 5 finals since the inaugural staging in 1994 have went 32 or greater, largely due to the dominance of Phil Taylor winning 16 between 1995 and 2017. Since his retirement, the finals length has been 40, 31 and 28. Format is best of 35 legs and player must win by 2 clear legs. Sudden death leg (41st) if tied 20-20.

P Wright to win 18-15 at $13
Both have been the form players of the tournament and Dimitri has yet to lose at the Winter Gardens (debuted at tournament last year). Should not be one sided, as I think it will be at least 28 legs at the fewest, with Peter to have the ascendancy thanks to his form on the doubles recently.

Both to have a checkout of 120+ = $2.50
Expecting it be a tight match and will be necessary to take out a or multiple of these checkouts to hold throw with the opponent waiting on a double.

Opening or match winning double to be either Double 8 or Double 10: $7 (for D8) and $8 (for D10)

Although, I expect a lot of 180's to be hit, none of the related markets are of any interest.

Just flicking around on Fox Sports and noticed they are currently airing the repeat of the World Pool Championship final. This was the only major tournament over the past 6 months where I forgot to recommend betting on Albin Ouschan to win and wouldn’t you know it, he won his second world championship.

For those not familiar with the sport, I would highly recommend watching some of the available action on Kayo, as their cue skills and positioning is a sight to behold. Also, the commentary team are brilliant for both newcomers or regular viewers alike largely thanks to ex player Alex Lely, who is vying with John Part as the best expert commentator in any sport that I have seen.
