Game is open. Won the round with a score of 1,110. Moved back up to 7th overall.
I love how nonchalantly you drop that, after telling me 4th in a round was pretty good haha. Amazing work!

Edit: I said this before checking my results. 1023, 3rd for the round, up to 17th. Only difference between us was you had Bottas for my Russell. If that doesn't speak to the power of accumulating cash early I don't know what does

It looks like making up ground is nearly impossible from here. Full merc/redbull is available. I needed that couple of mil from Russell to get there
Yeah I noticed I was "only" 400 points behind the leader and then tried to figure out how on earth I was going to get there and came up totally blank. I think my only real chance is just to fade Bottas and hope he drops off after the expected demotion coming up.

I've prepared some driver and teams break evens going into round 14 which is this weekend.

Drivers: Russell -21, Vettel -6, Max 1, Gasly 3, Gio 7, Kimi 9, Dan Ric 21, Mazepin 29, Schumacher 31, Latifi 37, Stroll 38, Alonso 40, Leclerc 42, Ocon 59, Perez 64, Tsunoda 68, Bottas 75, Hamilton 88, Norris 99, Sainz 104

Teams: Williams 19, Alfa 29, Aston 32, Haas 35, Red Bull 40, Alpha 65, Alpine 73, McLaren 77, Mercedes 99, Ferrari 106

Is this as cheap as Red Bull will get?
With the results from Great Britain now dropped and Hungary about to be dropped, Max (who actually increased by $0.5M this round) and the Red Bull cars are about to start going back up. And not by small amounts either. Both could go back up by $2M+ next round. If you are missing one of those pieces, you will likely need to prioritise trading them in this round.

Do we know who the number 4 driver is yet?
There still isn't much separating Perez, Norris, Leclerc, Sainz and Gasly. It could come down to form or penalties and we may still be trading this position throughout the last few rounds of the season. Gasly is the safest option this week BE wise (also he won at Monza last year) and Norris presents terrific value at around $10M in two rounds time.

(Maybe the best option would be Gasly in a Red Bull car but we have to work with what we have.)

Is it too late to catch up to the top 25 teams?
Not at all. Most of the top 25 teams have a current team value between $170M and $175M. That's not at full premium level which currently requires about $195M. And as the Red Bull's increase in value, it may not be that easy for the top 25 teams to make up the missing money. For example the current top team contains Ferrari, Alonso and Ocon, and maybe they don't have the funds to upgrade them.

If you have funds for double Red Bull, double Mercedes, Max and Lewis in your team, you'll go straight past a number of teams very quickly.

Trades
It's another sprint qualifying round so make sure to get your trades in after FP1 on Friday.

If you've been gaining cash from Ocon/Alonso and Alpine, its time to sell. There isn't much value in the teams outside of Red Bull, but Russell, Vettel and Gasly are all drivers with good money making potential this round.

I'll be looking to upgrade Ocon and whilst I could afford either of Perez, Norris or Leclerc now, I'm also considering getting Gasly for one round and making sure I've get extra funds for any unexpected trades required later in the season.

Out: Ocon
In: Perez/Norris/Leclerc/Gasly

Max C, Hamilton, Bottas, Perez/Norris/Leclerc/Gasly
Mercedes, Mercedes, Red Bull, Red Bull
Bank $0.5M-2M

Thank you. I think there are some pretty good rounds coming up for many of the coaches in our league.

You should join up to the league here. Code is 198577. It just makes it easier to track how the coaches here are going.

How long until the Russell switch is confirmed? Any chance they bring him across early for the rest of the season? Could be a bargain if he gets the Mercedes drive for the rest of the season...

The worst kept secret is out...

Also AlphaTauri confirmed unchanged for next year but that shouldn't surprise anyone.
Russell will get a price boost for 2022. Can't have a Mercedes driver starting the season at $5M. But he will still be cheaper than Max and Lewis so there is a good chance he will be starting in a lot of teams.

George and ocon out this round
Ins will either be leclerc/perez or bottas/vettel. Will have to wait on P1 results.

Reminder that lockout is tonight as well given its a sprint qualy weekend.

Confirming that the rules applied will be qualy and race points given based on the Sunday starting grid?

Also, there continues to be increasing noise around Zhou getting the second Alfa seat. Apparently bringing $30M of backing with him.

I know pay drivers are not new to the sport - but all we can hope for is Piastri wins F2 from here. If he does so, he would have matched the feats of Russell and leclerc in winning both F2 and F3 in their rookie seasons, and arguably surpassed their feats given he also won formula renault in 2019. Given both George and Sharl are regarded as generational talents it feels an absolute travesty that this is the situation.

Fingers crossed he gets a good result at Monza. I'm optimistic - it's Premas home race and he showed incredible pace in F3 here last year with a memorable drive through the field.
