Substitute Mahmood in for Milne and the BBL11 Thunder team feels like it is going to be very similar to the BBL10 version. Outside of who takes Ferguson's spot at 3 (we all seem to agree on Davies getting first shot), it doesn't feel like there will be many new, cheap options to select there for round 1.

(Though we probably all said that last season and Sangha and McAndrew were unexpectedly named round 1.)

Depending on which way they go with their 3 OS signings I wonder if they look at Ferguson as a possibility to cover Head's absence.

Weatherald , Renshaw , Wells still look solid enough on paper.

Hopefully they don't include a back up WK as part of the Ashes Squad and Carey (Inglis) is released back to the Big Bash after the Australia A game.

Big things were expected from Scott at the start of last domestic season.

A shame you weren’t around before the pre season last time round, I’d been talking about Sangha before he was even in their squad the year before!

Brisbane Heat look almost as bad as the Strikers for Round 1 now! Will they get Denly, Gregory or Lawrence back to play?
They are surely signing Wildermuth, unless he is on the move (to Adelaide?)
Reckon they need Laughlin, despite his age. Their bowling stocks are low.

Here's what I'm tracking for Heat

1 Chris Lynn 55(13g) $158k
2 Max Bryant 38(14g) $108k - not yet signed
3 Ben Duckett 0(g) $125k
4 Sam Heazlett 31(9g) $89k
5 Tom Cooper 16(5g) $63k
6 James Peirson 29(17g) $82k
7 James Bazley 31(8g) $88k - not yet signed
8 Jack Wildermuth 50(12g) $142k - not yet signed
9 Mujeeb Ur Rahman 67(8g) $191k
10 Xavier Bartlett 31(15g) $90k
11 Ben Laughlin 22(8g) $63k - not yet signed

12 Matt Willans 0(g) $42k
13 Mark Steketee 49(16g) $140k Test Squad?
14 Mitchell Swepson 55(6g) $156k Test Squad

I'd hope they have a few younger players they may be able to bring through instead. It was the sub 30 year olds like Marnus (even though he only played the last few games), Bartlett, Wildermuth, Peirson, Mujeeb and Bazley that got them into the finals (and a return to form for Chris Lynn).

This is where I'd love to see a draft setup or a big trade period just a few weeks out from the start of the BBL. We are all trying to find a spot for Matt Gilkes in the Thunder line up but he'd be a walk up starter to that Heat top 5.
