Hugh Greenwood

Greenwood featured in 15 of 22 games for the Suns in season 2021 and one of the 15 games that he featured in he suffered a knee injury and didn’t get a disposal in Round 17. When taking that into account, it’s incredible that he averaged the second most contested possessions of any Gold Coast player, with an average of 12.07 per game.
What was even more incredible was that he averaged the most clearances of any Suns player in season 2021 with an average of 6.20 per game. He also averaged the most centre clearances of any Suns player with an average of 2.27 centre clearances per game, which was more than Touk Miller.
Last but not least, Greenwood worked hard defensively, as he incredibly averaged the most tackles per game of anyone in the competition with an average of 8.6 per game, inclusive of Round 17, where he had none!

Huge mistake in not signing him up
I personally think he was on the outer with Stewie Dew, Greenwood was played sparingly at times last season and couldn't understand why. I wasn't sure if he was managing an on going injury.

I think Gold Coast should get no further AFL assistance from now on... Too many bonehead decisions coming from them for the AFL to keep supporting them. They let Jarryd Lyons walk to Brisbane for nothing a couple of years ago too and he's been phenomenal for them.

Why should every other club have to suffer with their draft picks getting pushed down the order... when Gold Coast keep doing stuff like this.

They said they would redraft him, hopefully another club picks him up first.
Plan appears to have been to get Greenwood & Thompson back in the draft (plus 1 pick to satisfy the 3 pick rule) then McLennan back in the rookie draft.

Think they need a new plan.

Not sure how delisting 2 players and then redrafting them equates to 3 actual list adjustments in any case.

I guess plenty of other clubs have delisted players to then redraft them.

Look, I follow Carlton, I've seen my fair share of strange list decisions, but I've never seen a team kick an own goal quite like this.

Touk Miller's back is going to break from the strain of holding that team up every week...
Its like they didn't learn from the Jarrd Lyons decision ...

So thats 2 mature body/ inside mids who are great at tackling/ winning the hard ball, that they have let go for nothing

Ridiculous decision to take that risk, leave him vulnerable to be taken by another club - you delist players & commit to taking them in the rookie draft that you know other clubs wouldn't be interested in/ essentially depth players. You don't do that with one of your most important players, kudos to North for taking advantage of the situation & pouncing, the Suns deserve to get smashed in the media for their diabolical list management.

This what we need. How was his PIT? Or was that irrelevant as he had done his job?
Probably falls down to the 90-95 range avg on PIT.

Ideally I would have traded him around the byes when he reached 500k but ended up being forced to hold as Cripps was a bigger trade out priority…. Still was a great win for his 320k price!

Does losing a hard tackling mid make it more difficult for Touk to keep rampaging along? Was really liking him as a starting pick at this early stage
GC midfield now becomes the first big talking point of the summer - more CBAs for some, is it good for Touk, is Rowell a lock....it gets my SC planning neurons firing for the first time in the pre-season!

My early gut feel is it makes Touk even more important in there and he firms for my starting team.
