How many chances can one guy get?

Surely there is a fit cricketer in Australia that is a better option to open the batting than him.
With Pucovski unavailable

Either go with experience in Khawaja or back in a youngster like Hunt or Street.

But Harris just can't play in the 3rd test - easy wicket for the poms.

Reckon Warner's got away with one there... For me that's clearly pad first. The ball tracking will be interesting...

There you go, pitched outside leg! Didn't make a difference. Oddly given the "inconclusive" verdict England probably keep their review there, which they wouldn't have if the ball tracking was shown...

Just checking the Sheffield Shield stats for the season

Khawaja 460 runs at an average of 65.7, the guy is clearly in form - he can bat anywhere in the order really so think he maybe the best option in the 3rd test.
I've been pushing for Khawaja to open all summer , but after he didn't open in the Australia A game , I think they need to give Hunt or Street the opportunity and see what they can do.

If not one of them , possibly Renshaw.

Cummins came into close contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid.
I must admit, I think Australia is over playing the close contact bit.
Sometimes it seems like, if me and someone who later test positive to Covid, were both at the MCG, but never within 150m of each other, then I'm gone for 2 weeks.
There has to be a better system.

Cummins wasn’t even a “close contact” I understand. He was a close contact of a close contact (ie Conway), which if in Vic or NSW, they don’t need to isolate at all but in SA they do. What a world we live in!

Certainly agree.

People arriving in SA now from interstate (my mum returned yesterday) have to get a Covid test within 24 hours but are free to roam in the community until their results come back , if it is positive they then have to isolate , meanwhile they could have infected others.

They need a "holding" area at the airport until people's test results come back.

Assuming Cummins is double vaccinated , he returned a negative test , but still has to isolate for 7 days , leaving the state on the 22nd.

The person Cummins came into contact with last night was from Sydney (arrived in Adelaide yesterday) , knows him from club cricket , apparently shook hands at the restaurant.

Think I have seen/heard 3-4 different versions now , still don't understand why Cummins is isolating if he returned a negative test though.

The penalty for slow over rates needs to be revisited. Some teams/Captains blow their nose at lost championship points. Suspending the Captain was harsh...... in some cases. There's just not a lot of incentive to push through them right now.
Lost match payments? Hah!!! Match payments are a small fraction of most players earnings these days.
How about fine them 200% of their match payments, or better yet 5% of their TOTAL yearly income?!
They'll bowl 90 in 340 minutes, if that ever came in!!!!

I actually think the penalty relating to the WTC makes a lot of sense, in an ideal world at least. I guess for it to really matter though two things need to change:
1) Every ranking on the table should have a different prize money level, and the difference between them all should be significant. Make there be large incentives both to the players and the boards.
2) Promotion / relegation. This really should have been a no brainer when the WTC was first set up.

lol they can't even have a system where each other team plays each other (let alone the India v Pakistan situation).

Think the original idea was a 7-5 split , but India was worried if they got relegated , then "conned" their "friends" to vote against that proposal , not knowing that India were never going to agree to 2 Divisions.

Certainly was pointless given Afghanistan & Ireland test status when they (and Zimbabwe are not involved in the WTC) , they were both playing more first class cricket when the ICC Intercontinental Cup (4 day cricket) was operating , now that has been scrapped.

The ODI League is also bring scrapped so another pathway for the Associates to aim for has been closed.

Don't mind the prize money idea but I am sure India generates the majority.of $ for the ICC so not sure how that would be work.

Still won't surprise me if the WTC is scrapped altogether and Australia , England & India (possibly South Africa) play more and more between each other.

There is a simple solution. A bowl clock. Given the bowler a designated time to start his run up. If he hasn’t that ball is a no ball. Works in basketball, tennis, AFL football. Want to reset the field; call a time out. Given the captain a limited number. This also works in other sports.
