Prolific power scorer when on song, one of the fastest throwers on the tour but this can also be a detriment as his doubles more often than not desert him in key moments. Considered retirement in 2016 citing a back problem which is still causing issues.

Callan Rydz (Bedlington, England)

A very bright future ahead for Callan illustrated by his form at the major ranking events over the past 12 months. Quarter Finalist at his debut appearance at the World Matchplay and a Quarter Finalist at the 2022 World Championships, in which he defeated Brendan Dolan and Nathan Aspinall without dropping a set as well as defeating the firefighter from Arbroath, Alan Soutar, 4 sets to 1 before losing to eventual champion Peter Wright.

Highly owned player in the PDC Fantasy Darts game for the World Championships and I would not be surprised to see those same coaches go back to the well again for the UK Open.

As we are heading into more events with more players it’s easier to keep it in average order. It’s still easy to see who’s in the Prem. I’m still going to cap it at ~30-40 players because it’s too much work to go to the guys playing a couple of times a year.
I’ve got an updated version that I will post up later that is easier to follow than the previous.

Glen Durrant (Middlesbrough, England)

Three time world champion in the British Darts Organisation (2017, 2018, 2019) before moving to the PDC in 2019 with a fantastic initial 24 months in the PDC involving Semi Final runs in the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix as well as winning the Premier League in 2020. Evident by the above stats his average has dipped considerably, struggled to win matches and defend his prize money under the two year ranking system. Hopefully he starts to recapture some of that form but it is a risk I would not be willing to take, until we see considerable improvement over the course of Pro Tour and televised events.

Chris Dobey (Bedlington, England)

Player stats:


Features at 6th place for 180’s per leg and average over the past 12 months highlighting his ability to beat all on any given day but has yet to take the major scalps on the TV stage. Won his first PDC Players Championship event last year and the friendly rivalry with his cousin Callan Rydz should hopefully bring out the best in both in the coming years by trying to one up each other. Three last 16 finishes in the past four stagings of the UK Open and could add to this tally in the upcoming 2022 edition.

Darren Webster (Norwich, England)
Age: 53
Current world ranking: 110

One of the players I am most excited about for this tournament and a strong chance to receive captaincy duties in the early part, dependent on where we start or split. Reached the heights of the top 16 in 2018 (13th) but elbow and back injuries resulted in Darren taking a lengthy break off and then the emergence of the pandemic resulted in him losing his tour card at the end of 2021 but thankfully regained it at Q-School this year.

"I've been here for 20 years and I'm back!" said Webster. "I've gone from 0 to 32nd twice, nobody has ever done that and now I'm going to do it for a third time, trust me.
"Before Covid hit, I was 13th in the world. Suddenly it all went, I had tennis elbow and didn't play for six months.
"In the last two months I've practised more than I have in two years, and in the last four days I've been doing three sessions a day on my own.
"I kept trying to keep totally in control of myself all day, and it's paid off."

Responsible for one of the highest quality set of darts ever at the World Championships.

The protege of Phil Taylor and a two time champion of the world has found it hard going over the past few years falling outside of the top 32 for the first time since 2004, after spending a decade in the top ten between 2006 and 2016. With the increasing quality and competition, he has not be able to consistently perform at high levels and treat us to ridiculous performances like the below.

Raymond Van Barneveld (Den-Haag, Netherlands):
Age: 54

Player stats:


Five time champion of the world (1998, 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007), two time UK Open champion (2006, 2007), a Premier League champion (2014) and one of the most decorated players in the sport. Retired after the 2019 Premier League but rescinded it a day later until he then retired after the 2020 World Championships. Raymond returned to Q School in 2021 and won his first tile at the Players Championship 3 event last year which was his first title since the 2014 Premier League. I might be a tad biased due to Barney’s status as one of my all time favourites but I belive he can make a deep run in this tournament by reaching the last 16.

World Youth Champion in 2020 and ranked second on the Development Tour Order of Merit. Very bright future ahead, evident by the match highlighted in the previous post as he boasted several high checkouts as well as throwing 6 180’s.

Player stats:


Uncanny resemblance to Sloth from the Goonies and his unorthodox rocking before releasing the dart is very hypnotic. One half of the winning Scottish team for the World Cup of Darts in 2021 and has previously been selected as a challenger for the Premier League under the old format. Spent 2015 to 2019 hovering around the top 32.

Silky smooth throw a paramount reason for his longevity in the game. 1996 World Champion and just recently recorded his 31st consecutive appearance at the World Championships. First time since 2003 that he has been ranked outside the top 33 at years end and if he is unable to climb up the rankings and keep his tour card, then the World Seniors Tour beckons.

Kim Huybrechts (Antwerp, Belgium)

Received a spot in the 2015 Premier League in large part to his performance below at the 2014 Grand Slam of Darts but unfortunately has not been able to perform at or near this level as often as he would have hoped. Ranked inside the top 24 throughout 2012 to 2018 and if he can play at a level similar to that against Price at the most recent World Championship, then he is capable of climbing back within the Top 24.

We are still putting the finer details on the exact team sizes and a few other bits and pieces behind the scenes. All will be revealed when the UK Open entry drops hopefully in a weeks time. What I will say is that minimum team size will be 12, with the possibility that we extend out to 16. The event won't be salary capped, rather colour coded by rank brackets. So as a head start for everyone here are the brackets.
If you start to piece together a team then it's probably best to work off 3-3-3-3 from each colour selection (extending out to 16 is more likely to affect yellow and green selections).
Please don't place entries in...these will not be accepted.
