Hello again, it is back :)

The Lock and Load Comp - V

ENTER HERE:
ENTRY DATES:
  • Team submissions start now - It is possible to enter a zillion times, however, only your last completed (legal) and submitted team prior to the comp entry window closing will be considered as your official entry. That means you can enter or redo your team right up to the final siren of the last game of the 2nd round.
  • Hot tip! Good to plonk a place setter in now in case you forget once the season starts,
  • Comp Final Entry date end of Round 2's last game - (should be Sunday, March 27th final siren of Freo v St Kilda)
RULES:
  • Select your 30 players - the same as you do in SC under the salary cap. This includes 8 defenders, 11 mids, 3 rucks, and 8 forwards. No need to separate bench players as all players are "Live".
  • Submit your team here: https://forms.gle/ZF8eEGLBxPt6Wtcd9
  • Your highest scoring player will score double captain points.
  • Your highest 16 scoring players count towards your total score for the round, regardless of positions.
  • There will likely be three comps - total points, a Cup, and the H2H competition. The total Points Prize Comp will run from Round 3 to 23 and the other comps will occur during the season depending on the number of teams entered and other factors. You will be notified in this thread.
  • Lastly, the competition has no trading (got to keep my sanity)! Just 'Lock and Load' and follow your team selection through the year here.
Prizes and Cost:

No Costs and no prizes - apart from the honour and glory of owning the title (... and your opponents)!

Everyone is putting me to shame here, I was planning to have my MPM comp up this weekend, just have had other stuff come up. Looks like mine might be the last comp to get going this year now at this rate. Oh well, someone has to be last. I do like the forms idea you have for entries, I might have to look into that for next year myself. Seems much easier for bracket entry for the person running it. I probably said the same thing last year.

I'll definitely be entering this comp, as I really like this competition, one of my favourites which I ripped off for the MPM comp last year, but I'll probably leave entering to the last minute as usual. Strongly recommend people give this one a go - zero effort once you have put a team in (which doesn't take too long), BS does all the work for you. He even does mid round score updates, not all comps do that! Maybe this year if I can work out how to do an update in under half an hour. No promises.

I was waiting to promote my 'InterChange Comp' a bit closer to the start of the season. But mine is a bit different I suppose, as it doesn't require any pre-planning, as it just uses your SuperCoach Team's weekly score.

Ya! I am looking at putting together and readying my team for your comp right now. I like the two from each team limitations. As for my comp updates, only takes a few minutes as I am always checking the scores anyway. The main work is set in the first week or two. And ensuring the vlook up files have no shenanigans etc. Although, maybe I will try to give less updates through this season.

Also, Google Forms works ok for me. However, I wonder If I am hindered by the fact that I need a VPN to use. Certainly copying and pasting the player data is a godsend and time saver. However, as I plonked the rucks and forwards Q's in, google forms slows down massively. Therefore if an error is made with question input, it is massively annoying to fix because of the delay in syncing the webpage/form.

ok - will go investigate my MPM team now. Cheers

Cheers!

Thanks for organising the comp @Beijing_Sting
I've joined - BTW couldn't find Tim English in the list of fwds.
Looking for some tips from those who have tackled this before - is the strategy here much different to setting up our Classic teams?
thank you.

I took the data from the couriermail, so I'm pretty sure there will be more missing players. So big thank you for letting me know, I'll investigate in the morning... Once we are in the year of the Liger. :)
Cheers

Edit:

Welcome aboard - English is in there now, but annoyingly he is at the bottom of the list for the first 4 forward selections. Google Forms is too slow and challenging to move him up past 15 slots... So, he's in the right spot for the last 4 Fwd selction spots. (see screenshots below) Silly Google forms (or maybe me for using it)

Strategy and rucks? I believe that last year was the first year ever a team won it without Gawndy... So probably, reading the changes form rules and styles of play with the game in the first two weeks is probably important. Last year's winning rucks were Flynn, Hickey, and Meek (I think that's what I had) ... A complete 360 from Gawndy in previous years.

In the early years, I had some pretty cool teams. Like the time I went with minimal Bye players from one week - effectively removing a thrird of the comp form consideration - What was I thinking, right?) Anyway, you get a couple of weeks to guess any trends and reflect on rule changes. Last year, I went heavy in defence (I think) and clearly lite in rucks. Only 1 of the top 5 had Gawndy last year from memory.

The others proabably have more hot tips, but yeah, looking at my team form last year, I defo got lucky with a couple of breakouts.

I only had one repeat premiership player - Ridley, so that's interesting.

Cheers

Easy fix for Part B (Forward 5-8):

Thanks BS - have always wanted to know how the starting team would perform relative to others.
I have submitted a team but need to correct it to include J Tsitas & P McCartin which weren't yet available in the Google form

Thanks again.

Thank all, I have plonked them both in ... but at the bottom of each list rather than in their priced order. It might be just quicker to rebuild the whole question database at the beginning of the season rather than plonk each one in... The limitations of google forms is annoying.

Just wanted to absolutely double check on rules :)

Definitely, locks in for round 3 as the first round of scoring?

No limit on number of players from each team?

Cheers :)
You can pick all Lions players - no limitations! Just the same limitations as you would normal Super Coach. Iuse excel to quickly check teams on the Monday (probably Sunday) after final submission.

So yes, get your final sent team in by the siren of last game (I keep only the last entry form downloaded database, so you can enter a zillion times) - generally, if a team has miscalculated (it happens) and is overpriced, I will contact you immediately to sort out before the start of week 3 ... but if I don't hear back directly and before the beginning of week 3, I do some surgery on the team that makes it quite fair to those who submitted teams correctly. Think I have only had to do this once before - from memory, I remove the highest-priced players and place in lowest priced players until the team fits (is pretty yucky and this creates a rather extreme price gap - the resultant team will end up being a distinctly disadvantaged team, but you never know your luck, right?).

Yeah - it is fun for me - which is why I do this. The data others provide is really eye-opening too.

Just added my team, with a couple of changes due to the wanted player not listed.
Are you able to swap :
Campbell Chesser to Finn Maginness
Oliver Dempsey to Jack Hayes
Tks :)
lol - Just seeing this now. Man - I need to do better with my team lists.

Jack Hayes $102,400 DEF/RUC ST KILDA is in there at the end of each list

I'll go sort out Finn Maginness now too. I reckon the best bet is to redo your team after you see the first couple of games... but - you never know, you might have got the best combo already. Cheers
