I think we will have a lot of novices who will be playing to make it up to the 12 players. The more the settings get away from QB, 2xRB, 2xWR, TE, Flex, K, DST standard leagues the more they will be disadvantaged, and less likely to succeed and return the next season.

We've managed to get one draft league up over the years, and that was a hard struggle. I like us to get to the point where we have multiple redraft leagues and a variety of formats.

To do so, I think we need to keep it simple at first and build from there.
This is pretty reasonable @KLo30 - I think superflex / 2QB may over complicate the draft, but keen to hear what your thoughts are on swapping DST and/or K for a extra standard WRT flex spot?

Do a mock draft with the existing set-up, by the time you get to R4-5 the Wr/RB become a bit uninspired. I don’t think it adds much, and I like having a “complete” team with K/DST. My 2 cents.

The novice players don't have the knowledge of the depth players at draft time, so the deeper the draft goes the more it advantages those of us who more into the game and do the research and mock drafts. Those depth players end up being the waiver wire pick ups, which the novice player will get to know week to week during the season after injuries and break outs. If the draft goes deep, most of these players will be unavailable.

If we were playing with all experienced players, then I'd have no problems with the extra flex positions and/or superflex. I think after a year, the novices will have got the hang of it and we can add the extra flex positions.

The other thing to consider is that most of the information readily available is for 10-12 standard leagues. Draft and then weekly waivers.

Sleeper determines who is on the IR (or not). I believe this is also reflected from the NFL team lists when they’re submitted. Pretty straight forward much like AFL (I think)

Draft trading is allowed but from a starting year (for us) I would say keeping all draft picks as is would present fairer (for everyone).

I was pretty non-committal about FAAB in my first year of playing but it actually grew on me. Basically after each round there is a window for coaches to bid a certain $ (up to them) on players they want to bid $ on. It presents fairer because some may place higher (and lower $) bids based off how they value a certain player (and their performance in the previous round). May take a week or two to get used to but I can vouch for it being a fairer system, as all coaches get to bid for players (Using the standard waiver system it often disadvantaged players that utilised the waiver system more than those that didn’t). After the auction/bid period concludes (usually on Monday) all the other players are unlocked (to free agents) until their game the following week

Not sure if this makes sense but hope the explanation is reasonable clear

In terms of doing a pre draft order it is possible, in your draft room you can ‘queue’ players based off your preference. It then becomes your cheat list which you can flick back and forth. In the default players section click the purple page (add) button next to your players name and they’ll jump into your queue. You can adjust positioning once they’re in your queue list as well (edit, adjust etc)
Thanks for all that.
Looks good to me. Even the FAAB. But a question: do we get a set $ amount for FAAB which is meant to last the season? Or is it something else?

On the pre-draft list:
I go to the league page, click on "players" and get this:
Sleeper league players.png
Am I in the right place?
When I click on the "+" to the left of a player nothing happens.
I can add players to my"watchlist": I click on their name then in the resultant pop-up on the star to the right of their name.
Is my "watch list"my "queue"? If not, where do I find the queue?

Sorry if I'm being slow.

You'll get a FAAB budget for the season.

Haven’t been on the desktop version (on the app). Perhaps click draft in your screenshot?

FAAB is $100 for the entire season - I generally find most of your quality waiver targets will be picked up the first 5 rounds

Also, surprised no one asked about the draft order

When we finalise the league (12 teams or 14) - currently at 10, I’ll do a 100 yard dash with everyone’s names on it (there’s a site for it)

Whoever finishes first will get pick 1 & second will get pick 2 and so forth

Generally been fair with this system - so hopefully you guys are ok with it!

EDIT: I should have been clearer, draft slots 1-12 will be determined by the dash. Standard snake draft is still what we’re using

If you have a look in the mock draft room you’ll see what I mean

Us (coaches) will have a better idea of who we’re able to draft only after we have our draft positions

Standard snake draft for a 12* man league is:
Position 1 - pick 1 then pick 24, 25
Position 12 - pick 12, 13, then 36 etc

Copy, and no problem with that . I thought once we had a full league, when we started the draft, the algorithm would randomly assign the draft position and everyone was on the clock

It’s definitely beneficial going into the draft knowing your position beforehand, otherwise your mock drafts will be impossible to run. Slot 1 v Slot 12 is very different as your range of players available will vary significantly

We can set draft position well before the actual draft night - so everyone can be prepared. I hope this will be beneficial for everyone as well 🙂.

Still on the look out for another 2 (or 4) coaches/teams. Currently 10 teams in the league atm!

Agree with @kennychao on this: knowing your draft position well in advance of the draft really helps in preparation.
At pick #12 you know your are not going to get any of the top RBs/WRs but you will get two chances at the 2nd tier ones.

@kennychao
I've tried to contact a couple of guys who've played RDT fantasy with us, Don't know whether they'd be interested or not.
