Just looked and I could do Clark > Hollands and Curtis > Jackson. Would then have Jackson as permanent ruck and forward cover for the year. Then next week Wehr > Massimo and McCartin > 510k defender to finish team with decent cover and 2 trades (not ideal I know). Thoughts?

Jackson is appealing as cover given I’ve got English R1, Preuss R2 (Teakle R3) as well as Butters up forward.

This is similar to what I'm doing. I've also got the Eng-Preuss-Teakle ruckline, with Butters and DCameron forward. I have 160k in the bank, so can do something like Greg Clark to Jackson. Covers all donuts this week (relying on McComb and Curtis though), and leaves Jackson as mid, ruck and forward cover/loops for the rest of the year thanks to all the dpp.

I do expect Jackson's scoring to crash back down when Gawn returns. But the next few weeks holding Butters/English/Preuss are the most important, and hopefully when his scoring will be at its best.

Does he also effectively cover all your mids too? If all your forwards are m/f and you have Rioli or someone on the mid bench.

Just Butters to Miller this week.
I'll be holding out for Steele to come back, so either Hobbs or SDK will be on field as my 22nd player until that trade happens.
Will be waiting for at least 1 or 2 games from Steele to a) make sure he's ok, and b) let his price drop with his high BE.

To be fair I'd just suck it up and go Witts. Clearly #1 ruck for the year. You're going backwards by not having him.
You're right, especially considering there's a high chance to be stuck with Jackson

All rucks are starting from 0 for this round onwards for the remainder of the season so the prior form of Witts should not have a large influence in decision making as the points are gone. Three consecutive rounds of 0 marks and relying on 35-40% HTA is a concern at close to $600,000 if the cash saved can be used to upgrade injured players if the bench is full of deadwood.

Poor logic.

The prior scoring ability of any player should have a large influence in decision making because it's the best indication we get of a player's scoring ability.

It should not be the only input, but in terms of past information correlating with future results SC scores is probably the best (without performing the statistical analysis required to answer with certainty).

This is a fair point and trade-o*** are necessary to consider for any given trade. Zim^zuM is best positioned to decide if the cash saved will deliver. I'd go with Witts for the reason detailed, and save money on other lines given how far his scoring potential has been over other players.

In isolation yes but situational needs and a multitude of other factors should also come into consideration receiving similar or greater influence dependent on the coach.

Both a valid points imo. I think witts past scoring suggests he outscores anyone else in the ruck including English as English misses obviously.

It's a matter of figuring out how the lose change works though. In one sense it allows a better mid upgrade later... but knowing SC it never works out like that. And in the end I end up with 0 trades and 150k in the bank anyways

McGovern, Butters & Curtis to Bont, Jackson & Clarke, Hewett to def.

Hopefully Preuss & English come back next week , at least one of them would be good.

Jackson then becomes F6/7, R3

Would appreciate any feedback for my team. I currently have the Preuss/English/Teakle dilemma like many others which needs to be addressed. Have considered Preuss to Blicavs/ROB as something different, or I could go S.Darcy. To fund this I would go Rosas to Skinner/Voss in the hope to create a floating link for Himmelberg. The other option I have is to hold firm and cop Rosas score this week and reassess next week and hope English returns, and maybe grab Darcy after his fall in price. Another option is to Trade in Bont and a rookie for Preuss and Rosas, keeping Cameron in ruck

My trade would be :-

Preuss > Heeney via Teakle, English back next week or the following week.

Probably not a direct answer to your question, but as an observation, I think sometimes people spend too many trades trying to set up cover, rather than using the trades themselves as cover when it’s needed.

A few rounds back, someone like English may have been appealing in part for his DPP to cover the ruck line (obviously there were other appealing attributes as well), but now he’s not there when you need him. If you do the trade later, at least you have better info on who is fit and in form at the time you bring in the cover.

For me the tradeoff shifts a bit when the remaining number of trades gets very low. In that case I think there’s a premium on the trades themselves, and the appeal of using one to establish DPP cover goes down a bit.

You should be able to get a decent DEF for 510k if you do go down that path though.

Here I was thinking I was sitting pretty. Zorko as cover on M9, able to be looped next few weeks. Taranto as F7.

All of a sudden, English gone, Zorko gone, Preuss gone. Geez. Ah well.

Its a nice side, very good cover compared to most/ more equipped to cope with this week's carnage that the vast majority that's for sure.

Preuss the only one needing immediate attention - who are you looking at there ? Jackson I am assuming is an option you are looking at with English back either next week or the following week, Taranto to F6 when English available?

How long is Butters out for, and what do people expect Jackson to score with Gawn sidelined?

I'm gunshy on going Butters to Jackson. Feel like watching this week to see how he goes but that means fielding supersub Rioli.
