Probably a wait and see on preseason… but what are thoughts on some of the blokes from 2020-2021 who were top line who played zero games last year?
Thinking specifically:
Simmons
Leonard
Williamson
That come to mind quickly

Not sure to be honest:

Going through my spreadsheets and comparing the 2022 vs 2021 starting prices .....
- the following players didn't receive any meaningful discounts from playing 0 games last year ..... frustrating as it is ...

Leonard (2022) 13,880,000 vs (2021) 13,990,000 [-110,000]
Williamson (2022) 13,820,000 vs (2021) 13,930,000 [-110,000]
Murray (2022) 10,450,000 vs (2021) 10,530,000 [-80,000]
Simmons (2022) 11,140,000 vs (2021) 11,230,000 [-90,000]
Wall (2022) 8,870,000 vs (2021) 8,940,000 [-70,000]
Wiseman (2022) 6,380,000 vs 6,430,000 [-50,000]

As compared to the following players injury affected during 2021 finishing price vs 2022 starting price ....
- Both got a decent discount ....

MPJ (2022) 6,270,000 vs (2021 - 9 games, 12 ave) 8,910,000 [-2,640,000]
Sexton (2022) 6,280,000 vs (2021 - 11 games, 12 ave) 7,740,000 [-1,460,000]

Edit: no discounts applied as per the follow up discussions with @Connoisseur ...
- both are priced related to their season finishing averages (~12)
- apologies for any confusion I might have caused ...

Weekly update on how the SCS leagues I've created are progressing heading into this season ...

- The SCS NBA 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 leagues are generally our stacked 10 team leagues by invite only aiming for the title .., might put another one together this year if we have enough interest (still have scope to do so) ...
- I plan to give all the leagues a unique name this year in stead of 1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5 .6, 7 etc as the number means nothing aside from the order that I created them in ... will do that once each one is full though to avoid any confusion

The biggest thing is that we don't want any "ghost ships" ....

SCS NBA 2022 - 23 (333862)
- This is just a SCS group that anyone can join
- Note I'll be tracking the weekly scores for anyone that joins ...
- link to join is https://sportsdeck.com/nba/dreamteam/?action=join-group&code=333862

SCS NBA 1 (no code)
- This is a 20 team league that has finished 2022 (8th), 2021 (1st), 2020 (6th) ...
- This is the league that I'll be actively tracking weekly player ownership's for as per previous years ...
- still got enough open invites from last season yet to rejoin and a waiting list that I can easily fill it with
- will let it run for another week before actively recruiting to fill it ...
- 3 spots left

SCS NBA 2 (no code)
- 10 team league that has finished 2022 (4th), 2021 (2nd), 2020 (1st) ...
- still got two open invites from last season and will let it run for another week before actively recruiting to fill it ...
- 2 spots left

SCS NBA 3 (have renamed this league as SCS Flash Point)
- 10 team league that has finished 2022 (7th), 2021 (9th), 2020 (3rd)
- It has been rejuvenated for this season

- League full

SCS NBA 4 (no code)
- 10 team league that was created last year that were the Runners Up (2nd)
- Still got one open invite from last season (@KLo30)
- 1 spot left

SCS NBA 5 (no code)
- 10 team league that was created last year that are the reigning Premiers (1st)
- Still got one open invite from last season (@KLo30)
- 1 spot left

SCS NBA 6 (no code)
- This is a 20 team league that was created last year and finished 3rd
- still got three open invites from last season and will let it run for another week before actively recruiting to fill it ...
- 2 spots left

SCS NBA 7 (no code)
- This is a brand new 10 team league that has been created this year
- no open invites at the moment but have a short list depending on who joins other leagues first
- 1 spot left

I am in three other leagues as full disclosure but I've always been in 10 leagues ... I'm fully locked into two of those ...

Edit: thanks to all those that I've recruited thus far for various leagues this year ..
- I'm sure that I'll be sending out some more invites in the coming weeks .... nothing new and pretty keen to create another 10 team league from scratch ...

So what are peoples thoughts on the new rules this year .....

5 Boost trades but the wording is pretty vague ...

- I'd assume that once a player is involved in a match for a round that they are locked out ....
- But .... can I replace a player that has played and had a poor score .... I doubt it but you never know ... (could have VC / C and bench player implications)

- I'm probably reading too much into it ...

An extra five trades on top of the usual amount. Any five rounds throughout the season (of our choosing) we are able to use four trades ( just like in AFL Supercoach) instead of three.

As for the trade update, you cannot trade a player once their match has started. Same treatment as AFL Supercoach.

Thanks ... that would be the logical take on it ...

I guess my confusion is the following wording:

"It can be activated right through the game week, all the way up until the start of the last match"

- Ie .. who wouldn't be locked out by then ??

MPJ and Sexton did not receive a discount as Hachimura and Suggs both played 40+ games averaging 11.9 and are priced between $6,270,000 and $6,280,000. I think you were looking to compare their 2021 starting price to their 2022 starting price rather than their 2021 ending price to determine the difference, given that ending price has no bearing on the following season.

MPJ 2021 Starting Price= $10,880,000
C Sexton 2021 Starting Price= $9,700,000

No ... in both those cases it was their ending prices I utilised ....

The starting price for Sexton (2021) was ~9,700,000 and his ending price was ~7,700,000 ...
- he scored 10, 31, 4 in round 1 and thus had an immediate price change ...
- 2022 starting price is 6,280,000 (about a 12 ave) so about right by your calcs ..

1664612159723.png

The starting price for MPJ (2021) was ~10,900,000 and his ending price was ~8,900,000 ...
- he scored 24, 2 in round 1 and thus didn't receive a price change after round 1 ....
- 2022 starting price is 6,270,000 (about a 12 ave) so about right by your calcs

Pretty sure I have got this reasonably right (price wise) but happy to be corrected ...

Edit: so both priced about right based on last years finishing average ....
- my apologies ... that took me quite a while to sift through and work out ...
- I have amended my previous post to reflect this ...

Depends on your risk appetite but my preference would be to wait a few rounds before jumping on most of the above.

Williamson should come under consideration between RD11-RD16, when the Pelicans have five of six rounds playing the max of four.

The dual position status of Leonard should come in handy throughout the season given that SG and SF are usually the most difficult spots to fill. Make sure to be aware that return to play and return to performance are two different concepts and to temper expectations for his return. Load/injury management will be a high priority for Kawhi throughout the season if they are to make a deep playoff run.

With the Nets early run of doubles, Simmons would be the player of most interest, as the Nets should be keen to integrate him in the lineup. A potential for high assist numbers with Durant and Harden, as well as the possibility for big minutes at the PF or Center position boding well for rebounds, etc.

Tend to agree ....

My initial thoughts before PS games would be not to start with any of them ...

None are at a discount and all carry a potential B2B game and managed time restrictions risk early on ....

- Simmons is coming back from a year off and back surgery .... some upside to his scoring abilities but a huge risk early on

- Leonard coming back from a year off and has historical knees issues .... I see him as a finals player that will be managed

- Williamson .... can score well and possibly has some upside but the management risk is too great for me to initially consider ...

Hey lads, new to NBA Sportsdeck this season but am a long-time AFL Supercoach player..
Was just wondering if anyone had any access to players' Sportsdeck scores from the preseason games?
If not, is there a specific set of scoring rules which apply to sportsdeck (like AFL fantasy), or can it not really be calculated from raw statistics?

Cheers guys!

Although not SD scores they are still fantasy scores and stats.
Don't think they count missed shots if i add the points up manually on their.

I wouldn't rely too much on PS scores ... aside from role changes ...

- generally speaking we are looking at PS rookie roles and scoring potential ....

Yeah of course, especially with the lack of minutes to stars, but just good to get an indication if anyone stands out.
