Is anyone else considering trying to get from our ideal R1 team to our ideal R2 team in just two trades? Leaves flexibility to rid our team of an injury / unexpected role change / mistaken punt to that unexpected R1 breakout contender in R2.

I know we have the boost this year to take advantage of this, but R2 feels very early to be doing this given the fixture in the opening two rounds.

Not something I’m considering personally. Looking at the schedule, only round 9 stands out as a round to utilise the boost.

Leaves 2 boosts leftover. Pre-season to post round 1 is where we learn the most information and the most will change with what we know. Really won’t bother me burning one early. Also, not sure if it was the same in AFL SC but in NRL SC the most favourable tactic was burning the boosts early.

Not sure if it will be my ideal Round 2 team but thinking :-

1 trade for a Scorcher
1 trade for a Donut
1 trade for a Neser (or Mujeeb price type)

Hoping to use the first boost Round 3

Mind you my proposed Round 1 team could completely change depending on results of the first game

The way I’m structured up atm I should be able to go Short and Boult to Marsh and Richardson. Where the coin might be tight is Lynn to Salt, but if Larkin fires in game 1 as my loop, I’ll start Salt over Lynn anyway so there’s a chance I’ll be able to do my preferred moves in 2 trades

Everyone is talking up Jhye Richardson which is understandable on his ability to put out big scores at his price but I'm not sure he's a must with his injury concerns ATM. Fully fit he's the 1st player picked but unsure with his current fitness? What do we do with Marsh if Faf gets drafted by Scorchers?

Why does R9 stand out?

R12 & R13 stand out to me.

I would say that the AFL was the same … using boosts early was the best approach. That was always liable to be the case if Covid wasn’t a major issue/if serious injury carnage didn’t hit, and for the most part it didn’t.

I think BBL may be slightly different in that trades are typically used more to maximize DGRs (which don’t provide a compounding benefit) as opposed to cash gen (which does). With that said, I think that early cash gen is underrated in BBL, so if a boost was used for that early on, I suspect it would be a productive choice.

Great point. I also want only 2 trades to prepare for round 2 in case a Striker that I was planning on selling goes massive though that would be a luxury conundrum to have

R12 & R13 stand out to me.
Round 8: Hobart, Sixers dgw
Round 9: strikers scorchers stars dgw, Sixers blanking, think Aus players become available too

Round 12: has two sgw proceeding it, so don’t see any issue prepping for it personally. Will still have scorchers from round 9 too.

Round 13: probably a good round given scorchers on the bye. But I imagine one Hobart guy may be held from the round 8 dgw. Might have to bench a scorcher but not a massive issue.

Good point re the Australian players returning, which makes R9 relevant, but I would want to add it to R12 & R13.

I thought that you may have been focusing on Scorchers to get ahead on Scorchers for R12, but the number of Scorchers in our team in R9 will actually have no influence if we want to maximise DGR players in R12 & R13. The fixture looks a little deceiving in that way.
